The Mandala Hotel boasts a stylish and serene atmosphere with spacious, modern rooms that have won over many guests. While the hotel's cleanliness and high standards are frequently called out, opinions on service are mixed—some guests encounter exceptional staff, whereas others face inattentiveness.
Nestled in the prime location of Potsdamer Platz, the hotel offers convenience to public transport and local attractions. Although praised for its amenities, including kitchenettes and a luxurious spa, some travelers consider the pricing for dining and extra services steep.

Detailed Reviews

The hotel is centrally located at Potsdamer Platz with restaurants, shopping centers, bus and subway very close at hand. Garage is under the hotel.
The hotel has a small lobby with very professional reception staff. The rooms are large and nice, even in the lower room categories. Bonus that there is a kitchenette with hob, fridge, sink etc. If you need to borrow pans etc., the hotel staff will arrange it. On some floors there is also a laundry room that can be borrowed free of charge.
Since there are a number of tall buildings around, it is not certain that the rooms always have the best view. Our room faced the Sony Center and had a perfectly fine view. The rooms are fairly soundproof, so you don't hear much of the traffic.
The room had everything you would expect: Large bathroom, TV, safe, large walk-in closet, kitchenette, desk and chair, armchair and footstool, etc.
The breakfast restaurant is an experience in itself with its sky-high level of service. There are not many tables here, but the staff solves this anyway. The breakfast buffet includes cold dishes and cold drinks. Coffee and tea are served at the table and orders for hot egg dishes, pancakes etc. are also taken there. The hot food was exceptionally good and fully adapted to the guest's wishes. Dishes are quickly removed from the table by the service-oriented staff.
The hotel's location also makes it possible to reach the central city and sights such as the Brandenburg Gate and Unter den Linden within walking distance.
A very nice hotel that is highly recommended!

I stayed for 5 nights in this hotel. The location is ideal for many tourist sites and for public transport at Potsdamer Platz. The reception staff are charming and very helpful. The rooms are stylishly furnished and spacious. I booked a studio, which had a nice desk, bathroom and a little kitchenette. It would be very suitable for a solo business trip if you don't want to eat all meals out. I self-catered except one dinner in QIU, which was nice and not too expensive. (Hotel breakfast cost 30 Euro pppd and a dinner menu in their 2 Michelin star restaurant costs around 250 Euro!).
My first room was over the road. The main problem I had was that it was so hot in the room that I couldn't sleep well. I had turned off the radiator as soon as I got in the room and opened both windows...but they only open a little and the road was noisy, too noisy to leave windows open at night. I couldn't find any air conditioning controls in the room (it seems heating/cooling is controlled centrally). In the morning I asked reception to check what they could do to cool the room down. That evening they told me there was a problem with the aircon, which they were trying to get fixed, but they offered me a room at the back of the hotel where I could leave the door to the balcony open to cool the room down. I accepted this gratefully. It was still too hot, even with the door open all day and all night - which was a bit of a security risk - but much more pleasant and to have the small balcony in the sun was an advantage.
I would also say that the studio would not really be suitable for a couple because the bed was too small (only queen size rather than king size) but maybe I'm spoilt. The bed was also too hard for me but that's personal choice or achy bones.
So potentially a very nice hotel if they can fix the aircon. I would use it again if I needed to be in Berlin.

The reception and housekeeping staff here are particularly friendly and helpful. On my bookinbg form I had asked for a room with no one over me and they put me on the 10th floor. I had asked for a room as isolated from other guests as possible and I got one away from lifts and stairs and which shared a wall with another room on one side only. Housekeeping provided me with a yoga mat, a coffee machine, and some cooking utensils. The hotel is perfectly placed for the Kulturforum (8 minutes walk away) and for getting into Berlin centre: the 200 and 300 buses stop outside. The M85 to Hbf also stops outside. There is a Rewe supermarket round the back and I made daily use of the room's hot plate and fridge. The bed and linen were blissfully comfortable and the bathroom with large tub with shower over were welcome after long days out. The standard of cleaning was the highest I have ever exoerienced in any hotel anywhere. Although this was The Mandala's most modest room, it was essentially a bedsit: it included everything - sofa, television, a safe, a dressing room, and a balcomy - for a stay longer than my 5 nights. A great pad in Berlin.

Dear Katie, Thank you very much for sharing your great experience about your recent stay at THE MANDALA HOTEL. We are delighted to hear that your entire stay was to your complete satisfaction and that we could convince you with our service. Especially your comments about our employees pleased us. Our staff works hard on fulfilling all of our guests’ wishes and comments like yours give us an additional motivation for the future. Many of our guests appreciate our location as most of the tourist attractions are just a stone's throw away. The "Berlin Wall" is directly on Potsdamer Platz, the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, Checkpoint Charlie, the Martin-Gropius Bau, new National Gallery of Mies van der Rohe and many other museums. Your positive words regarding our cleanliness as well as the comfortable bed and linen are well received. We acquire our mattresses from a German mattress manufacturer, which offer our guests the highest level of sleeping comfort. We are very pleased that this has become so evident in your case. It was our great pleasure being your hosts and we are looking forward to welcoming you back in Berlin soon. Yours sincerely, THE MANDALA Team

I had such high expectations before we have come to Mandala.
First is so little reception and so small lobby.
The rooms were great but a bottle of water even costs money via the minibar. It's the worst no shower cabin, If you want to shower then have to step into the tub and terribly dangerous to get out.... No real soap .., you have to press on the right side of the mirror so stingy. The breakfast is expensive but okay.
Location, friendly staff, large rooms and good breakfast..., the rest is not five star...,

The Mandala is swanky and sophisticated and is located within walking distance of all the major sites and great shopping. Our room was spacious and bright, quiet and comfortable, and had a nice terrace to relax on in nice weather. The bathroom was large and had a big tub which is necessary since my husband is an above the knee amputee and bathes instead of showers. While my criticisms are not deal breakers, I wanted to mention them here for the hotel’s information. First, there are no USB ports. I would have expected a modern and upscale hotel like the Mandala to have these. We brought one international converter to charge my husband’s prosthetic leg. We needed to ask to borrow one from the hotel to charge our electronics. The shower/ bathtub had shampoo/body wash attached to the wall accessible for those showering. However, it was out of reach for my husband while bathing and couldn’t be removed from the wall to be placed within his reach. I had to ask for soap to leave on the side of the tub. Also, there were no washcloths in the room so I needed to ask for those as well. There are lights the guests can use to indicate do not disturb or to service the room. The first day, we indicated when we left for the day that we wanted the room serviced. We came back about 6 hours later and the room had not been cleaned yet. We asked if it could be cleaned when we went out for dinner and were told it was too late. The next two days, we indicated do not disturb and both days the housekeeper rang the doorbell to clean. Clearly, the housekeeping staff does not heed the indicator lights outside of each room. Would I stay here again, yes. And would I recommend the hotel to others, absolutely. It really is lovely but, as noted, just a few minor tweaks would make it even better.

Dear guest, Thank you very much for your kind words about your stay at THE MANDALA HOTEL. We are very glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay in our hotel so much. Your praise of the quiet atmosphere in our hotel delights us exceedingly. One of our most important goals is to establish a peaceful environment in the heart of Berlin in which our guests can fully reenergize after a tiring day. As our hotel is in a constant state of optimization and modernization, your advice on the USB ports is much appreciated as well and we are always happy to receive suggestions through which we can improve ourselves. The fact that our cleaning service was so deficient bothers us deeply. It is important for us that our service work functions impeccably. We will train our staff again to prevent such complications. It was our great pleasure being your hosts and we are looking forward to welcoming you back in Berlin soon. Kind regards, Your THE MANDALA Team

We had four wonderful days at the hotel service and friendliness is very important here. Breakfast very good with freshly prepared egg dishes my personal highlight eggs Benedict and peppermint tea with fresh peppermint leaves. The spa is also beautiful. The only criticism in the sauna was missing an hourglass. Location Potsdamer Platz excellent from here we could reach a lot on foot and the public transport S-Bahn, bus and tram are also available. We will come back!!

Subway station is supper close so you can zip all over town we also took the train to Cologne super easy. You can walk to most of the big site and take the subway back. We spent 4 days at this hotel but cannot think of a single criticism.
On arrival the reception was friendly and helpful. Our room ( a management suite ) was well designed extremely quiet and very comfortable. The hot water was immediately hot and the cold water extremely cold. The beds were comfortable and the tv worked well. So what’s not to like ?
Downstairs the dining room was pretty impressive with a service to match. The breakfast was comprehensive and as good as any I have experienced.
So there it is. A very good hotel where attention to detail is a clear priority.

Great location (especially wrt start/finish of Berlin marathon). Starting to be/feel a little dates but the rooms/suites are large (huge) with so much space. Bed/comforter/pillows all fab. Rooms facing inner courtyard are quiet and have a small deck. Lots of closet space. Small refrigerator so helpful to have. Staff were welcoming and willing to help. Breakfast was worth it-- tasty pancakes with berries, eggs made however you want/like them, and fresh fruits/breads.

Centrally located in Potsdamer Platz the Mandala was an ideal location to access all of Berlin's excitement. From the moment we checked in, we were amazed at the wonderful service. Our suite was large and modern with every convenience. When we asked if it was possible to have a coffee machine in our room, the desk brought up an excellent Illy machine and a bag filled with capsules. The restaurants were a real treat. Although we only tried Farci for breakfast, it was wonderful, set in a beautiful garden and with the service one would expect from a 2-star restaurant. Dinner at the more casual Qiu was also wonderful. WE would certainly stay here again on our next visit.
