Since 2001 we’ve been standing proud on Rosenthaler Platz, the mothership of The Circus overlooking one of Berlin’s busiest squares. You’ll find us in the heart of a lively nightlife and cultural scene in the centre of Berlin and within walking distance of many of the city’s famous sights. There’s always something going on thanks to our regular programme of tours and events to help you experience the best of Berlin, and not only do we have our own microbrewery producing excellent craft beer but The Circus Hostel is also home to the one and only Hoff Museum, dedicated to the man himself.

Great hostel, very well thought out and very clean! (No cooking on the other hand, to take into account)
Duvet, pillow and sheets provided, no towel, usb plug near the beds, small discreet lights under the eubles so you can see the night without turning on the big light. Well maintained shower and toilet

We hesitated a little bit before choosing a hostel since we are not that young anymore. We were in Germany to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. But we like young peoples and lively places so we booked a studio on the 5th floor. We had space and we could make our own breakfast since we had a kitchenet. The hostel is very well located in a lively and pleasant area. The staff is kind and smiling. The room (studio) is a nice size and very clean. The bed was very comfortable. A really special note: The hostel having been informed of the reason for our trip by a member of our family, left a kind message, with beautiful postcards and chocolates to mark our anniversary. We were touched by this kind attention

A Hostel really top, I absolutely do not regret my choice! The Hostel is super well placed, with a metro station right in front, and you can do plenty around on foot. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the toilets and showers are very clean. The toilet is separate from the shower rooms and there are several per corridor so I never had to wait. Bonus for USB port jacks right next to beds to charge your phone.
Only small negatives: there is no kitchen so you have to take this into account in your budget. The Hostel is well located but overlooks a large square with a lot of traffic including the tram which makes a lot of noise, but this is the Award to pay for being in the city center... Grab your dock balls and you'll be fine if you don't sleep too lightly. Finally the breakfast offered every morning is 9€ now so a little too expensive for my budget.
Apart from that it was perfect, I recommend it 100%!

The rooms were clean and modern with full length mirrors and large lockers. I was in a 6 bed dorm and there was plenty of room for all of us. The location was great and could walk or get public transport to all of the sites quite easily. Staff were helpful and friendly.

Situated at U-Bahn Rosenthaler. You can catch a train from Brandenberg Airport which costs €3.50 and be there within 45mins.
Online check-in enabled smoother check-in at desk. Towels are a €1 to rent. They also have a fridge whereby you can purchase drinks.
I stayed in a 6 bed dorm which we fortunately had to ourselves. Bunk beds are well built, providing privacy and a shelf with USB points and light.
Showers and toilets are separate but clean and functional. Amazing water pressure!
Basement bar has cool vibes with great beer and cocktails.

Only complaint: the cafe/breakfast area. It’s open to general public which may provide difficulty when queueing or getting a seat. Breakfast was good value for €5.

Beds aren't that firm. Seem a bit springy. There are USB ports but not sockets into the headboard, if you have a type C only and a travel adaptor, then you got no choice but to charge in the corner of the room. For a 10 bed room, this didn't have a bathroom attached so instead is a walk down the corridor. Room itself was clean and tidy, located opposite a metro station with plenty of choices of eateries and groceries, along with nice cafes. Showers are cubicles, the extract fan wasn't exactly functioning. Easy check in and check out, they don't charge for lockers to store your luggage - handy when you have an evening flight or you land early before check in time. Towels also priced very reasonably. Probably the main negative was that it's in a busy spot, so you would hear a lot of background noise from people drinking outside especially on Friday & Saturday night along with the sirens so would recommend a pair of ear plugs. Overall a decent stay though...

Lots of fun people even though it was during low-season. Stayed in a mixed dorm, feel like we were placed with people the same age as us which was really appreciated. Very friendly staff in front office and the bar! Good and free activities organised by the hostel everyday to meet people and be social.

So happy you had a good time with us and took the opportunity to interact withyour fellow guests. Travelling has always been about two things. Obviously one, about seeing the sights and secondly about hanging out with fellow travellers from all over the world. Over the years we have actually had quite a few "Circus marriages" i.e. guests that met while staying with us and in the end getting married. (We have quite a few "Circus children"). Of course that is from the olden days before Tinder ;) JJ

I couldn’t be more grateful to the cleaning staff at this hostel. I love to travel but my autism often makes it difficult staying in hostels, everything was so clean though I actually enjoyed my showers every day! I’ve never felt so comfortable in a hostel.

I also really appreciate that I could open the windows in the dorm, which I haven’t been able to do in so many other hostels. The shower was also a proper high pressure shower that ran for as long as I wanted it to, I didn’t have to keep pressing a button to turn it back on!!

The place wasn’t too social during the day, a few great social areas but they were mostly occupied by people working on laptops. Up until around 7pm it actually felt more like a hotel, which is either a good or bad thing depending on what you’re looking for. The bar downstairs was a great place for meeting people in the evenings though and everyone in my dorm was super friendly, I loved Karaoke night! As long as you have the confidence to say ‘hey, are you going out tonight’ you shouldn’t have any problems making friends haha!

Thank you for a great stay!

This quirky hostel became my father’s four day base whilst exploring Berlin. He slept in a quiet, single room which had plenty of space, a comfortable bed and was nicely laid out, but it didn’t have an en suite. The shared bathroom was clean although there was no soap in the toilets. The staff were friendly and very helpful, especially with his questions about public transport. There wasn’t a self-catering kitchen but a free and substantial breakfast buffet was available daily from 0800-1300.

Me and my boyfriend stayed in the hostel (if you can call it that, its way swankier!) for 4 nights recently. We booked a double room with shared bathroom. We checked in early and as the Hostel was quiet being early jan we got straight into our room at about noon which was really convenient for us.

The room was spacious for a hostel, with a console are to hang clothes, put toiletries on and books etc. At the end of the bed was a stool and a seating area with a table attached to the bed so we could have a drink and look out the window. he bed itself was a raised platform with the (comfy) mattress sunken into it, almost like a Japanese style bed. I had no problems with this but my BF having. bit of a bad back did struggle to get up for a pee at 3am!

The rooms decor was modern and stylish with nice big mirror. It was a bit dark for doing makeup/contact lenses so I usually went to the shower room.

The toilets and showers were plenty and very near, the ladies for me was right outside our door. The shower and toilets were impeccably clean. We rented towels for 1 euro each.

The location is great, you're right on the M8 and M1 tram with a Ubahn outside too. you've got a direct line to Hauptbahnhof too.

The surrounding Rosenthaler Platz had small late shops for chocolate bars and beers and a great Turkish place we got delicious Kebabs!

Hi, if you can pay a few bucks more they do have single rooms available. I reserved a single room with a private bathroom months in advance because I didn't feel comfortable with that kind of situation myself. It's so much better when you have some privacy.

You could always get a private room or a private room with shared showers toilets ect. I visited during the summer and saw kids in the hostel with parents but maybe they had their own room.

Forgot to say... The Circus is in a really good district of the centre & they do free walking tours ever day, which take in many of the important sights.
