Myself and two friends stayed here for three nights and weren't expecting much, but were still sorely disappointed. We were offered to pay a deposit to rent padlocks for lockers in our room, however even when they were 'locked', they did not work, and when asked about this by other guests in our room, the staff replied with a grunt... I didn't like it much except for the fact that I met great people there. The wifi doesn't reach the rooms and I couldn't charge my phone because the sockets were too far away. Not all the bathrooms worked and the sheets weren't as clean as you'd want them to. The showers are fine; you have to keep pushing the... More

The place itself is fine. The pillows and blankets in the dorm might put you off a little as you step into the dorms as they are pretty weathered but the sheets and stuff are super clean so it's fine. There is a nice common kitchen with a big fridge and they even got an oven for that frozen pizza... More

We chose this hostel because it offered one of the cheapest private rooms at the time we were visiting. For out money, we got an exceptionally large room that actually had a dining table and kitchen as well as en suite. We were very pleasantly surprised. The room was a little scabby in terms of the furnishings, sofa stains, and... More

We stayed for two nights. Unfortunately we just came from the Poland, Hungry & the Czech Republic which had higher standards of accomodation for the same price. Pro -location close to a station which is easy to get to and from. 35 minute walk from Alexanderplatz -cheap -friendly people (staff and guests) Con -rooms are cleaned with quick once over... More

Good place to lay low, have a short rest, morning coffee and spend the rest od the day exploring Berling, because there's no point staying in a hotel/hostel when you can go out. Common bathroom, cheap simple rooms, park across hostel, peaceful neighborhood. Near to U station from where you can go to Alexanderplatz.

I stayed at one of their apartments with 3 other girls. We stayed in Berlin for only 2 nights but wished we could've stayed longer- we all fell in love with the hostel! Staff was so very friendly and helped us however they could. The apartment was roomy and there was so much space! And the kitchen was well-equipped. Really... More

I was quite skeptic as I arrived, because the room looked really dirty and was pretty smelly. The only bed that was free for me (which was a bunk bed although I got offered an upgrade, for more money of course, for a single bed) was in a scary condition. I was disgusted by having to make it. Thankfully the... More

Very friendly hostel. Staff is helpful and the neighborhood is amazing, felt very safe and confortable. Once a week there is a street fair close to the hostel, with lots of local foods and fruits. There´re some nice electronic music bars close too.

I´ve been in a private room with ensuite bathroom, it was a big room with a nice kitchen. Nice staff, good location, near supermarkets, train, restaurants, everything you need in a hostel and it was quite cheap, nothing to complain about it.

Staying in Prenzlauer Berg

Neighborhood Profile
Prenzlauer Berg
No Berlin neighborhood has undergone a greater change than Prenzlauer Berg. The artists and non-conformists that defined the district’s intriguing subculture in the 1980s and 90s have been replaced by a young, hip crowd that frequents the many cafes. Where there were once run-down houses in the shadow of the Berlin Wall, there are now designer shops. Beautiful old homes have been modernized and renovated, and on Sundays, thousands turn the park next to remnants of the wall into a playground for street artists, musicians, and flea market shoppers. This attracts young urban families who enjoy the balance of big city life and small-town comfort. Meanwhile, trendy, young, upper-class visitors from all over the world are attracted to the local high-end shops, cafés, and sophisticated bars and restaurants. The merits of this transformation are a favorite topic of debate around the city, but it makes for some of the best people-watching Berlin has to offer.
