This is an update on my earlier review of this hotel. I feel the need to do so as I think this hotel is in desperate need of arriving in the 21st century. The rooms are modest, but ok - however, the internet is not free and above all, after paying € 12.50 for a day, I'm confronted with ridiculously...

Its a regular business hotel for business travellers, small reception but check in ok, just 2 floors of hotel rooms, breakfast for 14,- eur, but very good with good choice. Rooms have standard furniture, but nice and clean! Close to undrground (3 minutes walk)

Loved my 3 days stay here. The stadtmitte station is next door, so connecting to Hbf or Tegel is just one connecting train away. Breakfast was brilliant. Near to all important tourist places like check point Charlie , Berlin wall monuments etc. staff were kind both at check-in and also at breakfast area. I needed iron box to press my...

The hotel is on two floors of enormous concrete building, but don't by put-off by the exterior, the rooms are large, with simple but modern equipment and are quite comfortable, my room – facing Markgrafenstraße - was also surprisingly quiet. Reception staff is very helpful and friendly and location could not be better, few meters from the Underground and centrally...

Our German friends recommended this hotel for our first visit to Berlin. Very well located close to all the main sites etc. Clean and comfortable for tourists who are not going to spend much time in their hotel room. For breakfast we went out each morning to Gendarmenmarkt which is a beautiful setting nearby. We plan to go back to...

This is the second time we stayed at the city hotel at the Gendarme markt its biggest advantage is the location. It is in walking distance of many attractions such as Unter den Linden, Brandenburger Tor,Checkpoint Charly, the Gendarmenmarkt and a subway station is just around the corner. We spent only 76 Dollars a night, very reasonable for a hotel...

CityHotel is one of those places you stay at if (like me) you're going to the city, not the hotel. It's basic accommodation at a fair price. 120 Euros per night when i was there. CityHotel is nothing to look at, inside or out. It's in the former East Berlin, and it certainly looks it. And at 14 euros i...

We got a good deal on this hotel and chose it primarily because of its location. It's right in the center of the city, near Checkpoint Charlie on Leipziger Strasse. There are some nice (but expensive) restaurants nearby, as is a supermarket and Underground station. The hotel has very dated decor for such an expensive part of the city (mind,...

Don't bother staying here, there are many better hotels in Berlin. The room is tired and shabby with dirty marks around the room and paint chipping and pealing from the wall beside the bed. The bed itself has two single duvets on a double bed, when i asked for a double duvet i was rudely told i should have requested...

The location of this hotel is great - right in the centre of most of Berlin's attractions - and it is very good value for money. The rooms are fairly basic and noisy unless you can get a room at the rear of the hotel or you are happy to keep the double glazed windows shut for the duration of...

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.

“I had room 217 which was big enough for 1 person, beds comfortable. Very quiet. Room was warm enough with 3-4 degrees C outside. No internet service in this room.”
