This is a bare bones hotel that has few amenities but in a convenient location that is close to Checkpoint Charlie. Only bone I have to pick is there is no air conditioning and a couple of nights we were here it was over 31 C. Although some have commented on the rude front desk I think it's just the... More

The hotel was in a decent location... Just a 7-10min walk to the nearest metro/subway. The room size was very accommodating. The beds were super comfortable. To get in the hotel late at night when the front door is closed, there is a side door to the left (when standing looking at the front door) you use to get in.... More

It may be basic but the rooms are clean and spacious, the welcome is warm and there is plentiful food at breakfast. It is well located for sight seeing and is excellent value for money. I would definitely re book if we go back to Berlin - such an amazing City. We had such a good few days celebrating the... More

This is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in. The former DDR middle aged female receptionist with blue eyeliner and eye shadow should do a course in hospitality management and learn that her guests are not political prisoners in a Stasi institution in former East Berlin. Moreover, the bathroom had not been cleaned when I first got to my... More

This was our second visit and we were not disappointed. Our 5th floor room was small but had a balcony and was spotlessly clean and perfectly adequate for our 6 night stay. The breakfast is self service, there are the usual cereals, juices, hot and cold meats, cheese and eggs as well as a choice of teas and coffees. I... More

Ok. So this is not the best hotel in Berlin, but for the price, it is pretty good. The rooms are large and spacious - but maybe a little bare. There is ample hot water and the beds are comfortable. The best thing is the breakfast which (considering most European hotels) is pretty exceptional. Tons of food, hot and cold... More

The front service was run by one person who's communication skills were very poor, very unprofessional and ignorant when asked for help. Management was not available to discuss any problems. There was no internet service In the room I was told to use it in the front entrance. They supposed to have airport shuttle but they didn't have it available... More

This hotel is fine if you want somewhere clean, convenient and cheap in Berlin. The breakfast was more than adequate with mainly cold but a few hot items, the beds were comfortable and the shower powerful. We found the reception staff to be polite and helpful and they phoned a taxi for us to get back to the airport. We arrived... More

If you simply must run a mediocre hire, then at least be nice about it. Checked in yesterday and was greeted by the most unpleasant youth who appeared he'd rather be anyplace other than the "LebensQuelle." Thankfully I'd prepaid online so our exchange was brief. I was silently handed my receipt followed by a sketchy description as to how to... More

The location and price was really good and for this alone I would recommend going here. We stayed as a stag party of 8 so it was perfect for our needs as somewhere purely to sleep and shower. Three of our group had breakfast one morning and said the food available was strange - gherkins, hotdog and goats cheese to... More

Staying in Kreuzberg

Neighborhood Profile
Kreuzberg
Berlin's revolutionary heart and immigrant roots can both be found in Kreuzberg, but this central neighborhood is beginning a new chapter. In the 1950s and 60s, Turkish guest workers settled around Kottbusser Tor, while in the 1980s and 90s, rambunctious squatters and artists gathered to live a carefree life here. An old hospital even became a hotspot of riots between squatters and police. Today you can still find the best kebabs in town and many underground clubs, but a lot has changed as well. The hospital has been transformed into an art center, and increasingly you will find new urban cafés, restaurants and designer shops. Rising housing prices and gentrification threaten the spirit of this area along the Spree River, but the neighborhood’s legacy is upheld by a very engaged community fighting to preserve its rebellious identity.
