Great Hotel, very central to going off to see the many attractions that Berlin has to offer, including museums, cathedral, churches, monuments and zoo, which is fantastic, especially the aquarium. A cylindrical million gallon aquarium, called the AQUA DOM, with more than 1500 fish is...More
We stayed in this hotel because it was close to Museum Island as we were in Berlin primarily to see the art and artefacts in the group of world-famous museums that are within 2 minutes walking distance. It was a great choice as we were...More
I actually stayed at this hotel in April 2012 to celebrate my boyfriends 30th birthday. We really enjoyed our stay in Berlin. The hotels location is excellent, we paid a little extra on arrival and got a room overlooking the cathedral, which was well worth...More
My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights on the first leg of our honeymoon.
The hotel reception is impressive; the fish tank is fab and we saw a diver in there the day we checked in. If you want to take the lift...More

The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given
way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
From Tegel airport, take the TXL bus to Spandauer Strasse/Marienkirche (20 to 30 minutes ride, no need to change bus). Cross the street an walk back in the direction you came from for about 300 meters.
Taxis are readily available, not sure about shuttles. We got the train from schonenfield airport to Alexanderplatz station which was 1 straight train and a little walk and it only cost about €3.50 each way!
