In the Savoy the traveller will find something very rare in Berlin: Tradition and Style. Built in 1929 it's the only one of the ancient Grand Hotels in the city not to be destroyed in World War II. So nothing is fake, it's all original...More
Just returned from Berlin, Germany and the Savoy Hotel was quite nice. Be prepared that most Berlin hotels do NOT have air conditioning! The Savoy only has room suites on the 6th floor with air conditioning. We upgraded directly with the hotel. Our suite was...More
The Savoy is a very nice hotel with antique furniture but still a kind of trendy look. Rooms are very spacious but most bathrooms are in urgent need of remodelling (the existing ones are dating back to the 60s!). The staff is very friendly and...More

Nice hotel, competent staff, great breakfast. But the rooms on the front, which faces East, were broiling in the heat. No a/c, no ventilation. My room was 98 degrees when I entered it, and it never got much cooler, despite leaving the windows open. Plus...More

Breathe in Berlin’s royal past while walking through the gardens of beautiful Charlottenburg Palace, which lends its name to this well-heeled neighborhood. Here you'll find some of the oldest homes in the city: upper-class apartment buildings with ornate facades and marble-floored foyers line the cobblestone streets. Stroll by sophisticated restaurants, through little parks, or around Lake Lietzensee. Window shop
down Kurfürstendamm, the most renowned high-end shopping street in Berlin, where you can find all the big designer names. In the evening, visit one of the old theaters close by Zoo Station which were nightlife hot spots in the 1920s, or dine in one of the many international restaurants around Savignyplatz before heading to other parts of town for a night out.

Hi Darryl, you've already received pretty useful answer above. From my experience - using the train on my way from the airport to the hotel and a taxi from the hotel to the airport, I could only add that taxi is more comfortable way of transportation - and it is not super expensive - The cost was 30 EUR, if I recall well.
