We stayed at The Westin Grand for a long weekend break and loved every minute. The hotel is perfectly located for all the major tourist attractions and is close to the main train station - from the airport - it takes 26 minutes. The rooms are good - even though ours was a bit hot - we had to open...

Four of us visited Berlin and stayed at the Westin Grand for 2 nights. The hotel is wonderfully located within easy walking distance of many of the main sites and right next to the U-Bahn for sightseeing slightly further afield. We were 2 couples and both our rooms were very comfortable and warm, perfectly clean and exactly what you need...

The Westin Grand is ideally placed for sightseeing and particularly for the Komische Oper Berlin which is next door. The rooms are comfortable and well presented and the meals in the restaurant and bar are not exorbitant. The Concierge and Reception staff deserve a special mention for being so helpful and charming ....and now we come to the breakfast. THAT...

I stayed 3 nights in a Linden Superior room on the 6th floor with views of Unter den Linden. Best location and the staff here are some of the friendliest & most professional I've ever encountered. They serve a good hearty breakfast and the corner lobby bar is awesome! Quite a few cool bars and restaurants close by as well.

From the grand foyer to very comfortable rooms, this hotel was great. Great staff, wonderful breakfast with your usual array of food plus fresh smoothies and juices, there own honey, eggs done to order any way you wanted and breads of all kinds. Location was great for the tourist hot spots and with a 15-20 min walk different directions you could reach a lot...

Excellent location for walking to Check point Charlie, Reichstag, Brandenburg Tor and Alexanderplatz. Ideally located for using U, S and RE trains to venture further afield. Superb rooms, well maintained, pool and fitness suite also available free (extra for sauna). Excellent restaurant well priced. Expensive for hot breakfast (€30 each) but cold is only €16 and there's plenty of choice....

Maybe it wasn't the best idea to start the business week with a Sunday late night arrival in Berlin. The hotel which I usually appreciate for centrality and reliability felt deserted on a cold February evening and staff were somewhat lackluster. I slept well, realized that the shower was really soso and left in somewhat dull spirits. Out of previous...

Now I don't want to be too negative because it isn't a bad hotel, just to expect a lot more for what was a very expensive night's stay. The hotel is very central and grand when you walk in - big lobby, grand staircase up. But it is massive, impersonal and all feels a little dated and out of touch....

It can be difficult for such a large hotel to have a personal feel but the staff here could not be more attentive and thoughtful. The beds are great, and housekeeping faultless. One slight let down is the exceptionally slow lobby service. We waited 40 minutes for a tea order in an almost empty lobby, and the order came wrong,...

I was disappointed with this property. I found the room dark and dingy, albeit quiet even though I was overlooking the road. The towels were almost 'large handtowel' size (I am not a big person). Unacceptable for a five star Hotel. When I washed my hair and needed two towels, I used the dressing gown for drying. I did not...

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
