During the check-in process, the price of my stay plus a security deposit of 50 EUR was locked on my credit card and I was told that upon checkout only the agreed-upon amount (per booking) would be charged from the locked amount and the deposit amount would be released and returned to my account. What happened instead is that the amount stayed locked and the price which I had to pay was charged additionally. The hotel claimed that they released the block so the amount would return to my account shortly. But I got the confirmation from the bank that they actually charged the deposit amount as well. So they charged my DOUBLE plus 50 EUR

If like me you arrive into Berlin at Brandenberg airport (BER) the quickest way to reach the hotel is to take the fast train to Berlin central station, and from there connect to the metro starting at Hauptbahnif and finishing either at Kurfürstendamm on the U9 line or Uhlandstr on the U1 (though that was was out of service for repairs on September 11 2022. As of September 2022, face coverings are still mandatory on public transport.. The hotel is an easy 5 minute walk, the hotel lobby is massive, ideal if many guests are checking in or out. check in was handled efficiently from 1500 and I was on the 4th floor in room 425. There are 2 lifts to use. The room itself is on the small size, there is sufficient A/C, but you can open the window if you desire. The room has a mini safe, a fridge, and a TV with a very good range of channels. The double bed is really comfortable and I managed a good nights sleep. The bathroom has a shower inside the bath and the usual condiments.. There is a swimming pool, which opens from 0800 to 2000, a really good way to start the day..it’s a good length too..There is a different lift to take if you use the pool, rooms are equipped with bathrobes and slippers which are advisable to take to the pool.. I didn’t take breakfast, as it wasn’t included in the rate, and was a little expensive otherwise, you also can dine here and there is a bar. All in all a very good priced central location property - well worth a visit if you find yourself in the city…

The Bristol hotel is not a new hotel anymore but has tradition and an old charm. The location is very good in one of the best areas of Berlin is also near the Zoo and a tube station is a few minutes walk away. There are a lot of shops, bars and restaurants nearby. Inside is clean and gives a good impression but needs renovation. The staff was friendly, polite and efficient. Room and Bathroom are a little dated and worn but comfortable and very clean. The breakfast was excellent, the food quality and the wide selection are very good, w/ pleasant service Parking fee 25€ day. Our overall experience was very good and I would recommend this hotel.

When travelling, we try to avoid hotels as much as possible and use apartments as it’s easier with children in tow! However, this place was amazing! We arrived very early to check in and although they couldn’t accommodate us immediately, they asked house keeping to clean our room next so we only had to wait an hour. The breakfast was superb!! It had everything you would want and kept us full all day until dinner (that included our two young children as well who would usually want feeding every few hours!!) The staff on the desk, at the door and serving breakfast were always friendly and polite. Nothing was too much trouble and they made a big effort with the kids. We stayed in a family room which had two big bedrooms and two bathrooms. They were a little dated and the decor was not to my taste but they were incredibly clean and very spacious.

We had booked a family room/junior suite for 8 nights and had high expectiations to the hotel after looking at pictures of the rooms and knowing it was a 5-star hotel. The room was spacious for 3 people with a walk-in closet, desk, minibar and shelves. We got only 1 bottle of water for 1 week, though.... normally you get 1 bottle per person per day in a 5-star hotels. What the pictures does not show you is the bad smell of sewer in the room or the worn paint in the bathtub etc. Also there was no sound insulation between the rooms. The breakfast buffet was nice and the cafe was cozy, and the staff friendly. The pool area was quiet and nice. Upon departure we realized that we had been charged almost double price of what was confirmed through the booking initially. The excess payment was returned after some days. But if we had not been attentive and looked at the printed bill, we would may be not have seen this... We paid more than 200 EUR per night including breakfast, which was a too high price for what we got. The hotel may have been very cool and fancy in its early days, but it surely needs refurbishing in certain rooms. Not value for money, but a "historic" place to stay. Other rooms in the hotel might be more up to date than the room we had, of course.

Very nice hotel and central. Parking nearby. Room a bit warm (top cooling not working well enough when it is hot outside). To enter the bath (to take a shower) the step is too high, so not the best/safest for old people. Overall we had a good stay at a fair price.

A grand old lady with some lovely art deco interiors and touches. All staff were warm, friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and comfortable. Beds and linens very comfortable. Bathrooms spacious. Water pressure possibly the best we have experienced in a hotel. The area is very nice, quiet and feels safe. Breakfast options great and plentiful. A little let down in a couple of minor points such as single duvets on a double bed, small towels, wall mounted hairdryer, no coffee/tea making facilities in the room. Changing these little things wouldn't cost a fortune but would make a big difference to the experience.

I had an embarrassing stay here and do not recommend this hotel to anyone, what a shame. I am attaching pictures to proof my story. Here is what happened to me on Sunday night , June 26 2022: I entered the lobby asking for a room. The receptionist was friendly, but it took her forever to finalize the booking. I was asked about the purpose of my trip, which I said was business. I first filled out the usual document, but then the receptionist suddenly wanted me to fill out an additional document with my company´s tax details. I felt provoked and after payment and receiving the room-keys, I told her I felt this was racial bias due to my skin-colour. I then tried to walk towards the elevator, when I heard her screaming my name, which I tried to ignore to de-escalate the situation. She then confronted me in front of the elevator, upon which I re-confirmed that I thought this was racial bias behaviour. She said this is not possible, because she was not German! Ten minutes after I arrived at my room the night-manager arrived together with a security guard, telling me aggressively that I am trespassing the hotel and need to leave immediately. I asked why, upon which the night-manager said: "You insulted my colleague by calling her a racist. But she is not. It is impossible, because she is not German." I got my phone out and asked to clarify this, upon which he said he would immediately call the police. Another ten minutes later two cops, the night-manager and the security guard stood at my room. The cops wanted to know what was going on, so I explained my version. Then the situation de-escalated, but the night-manager kept pushing his version. Interestingly, the cop then said "So the guest has paid and you entered a contract, which you cannot break now, what do you want him to do?" So even though the night-manager knew that he could not kick me out with any legal or contractual basis, he was still pumped up enough to try and even call the cops on me. I explained the incident the next morning to someone from the management. I was called back and told that no rules were broken, but the night-manager was asked what was going on. I was asked if I had any further things to discuss. No apology from the receptionist or the night-manager, no training for the receptionist or the night-manager. No further action from the management. Seriously? I have recorded most parts of what happened and handed it over to my lawyer now and Berlin´s official ombudsman for racism ("Rassismusbeauftragter"). I will also share the video on social-media in the next days. I will re-post this on other review sites. Thank you for supporting me.

The hotel is located in a busy area with lots of shopping adventures. However the front desk staff were in friendly, robotic and rude. When we checked in we were delayed we wanted to go and eat so we asked front desk they couldn’t recommend any place to eat and told to go to the road in the wrong direction to find something. I have to admit I have visited many places around the world but the lack of wanting to assist customers was shocking. No information was given regarding how to connect to Wi-Fi, or when and where breakfast is or what you can have. Also the air conditioning is completely useless we moved rooms and it was the same on different floor levels. None of the rooms had any coffee or tea making facilities no kettles. I won’t be ever recommending or staying here again
