The hotel is in a great spot right near checkpoint Charlie and near the WW2 museum that once was the Nazi secret police headquarters with some of the original Berlin Wall. For a budget hotel the rooms are small with no tea/coffee making facilities nor is there is a mini bar or refrigerator. We could handle this but the bed... More

Very small room with no A/C. Small bath. Upon arrival the tv remote did not work, the safe would not lock because it needed a new battery and the main room light was out. These problems were repaired. The furniture appeared to be pressboard and there was no closet. Beds uncomfortable. Both nights had to call front desk because children... More

This is a very pleasant budget hotel, excellently situated just down the road from Checkpoint Charlie. The nearest u-bahn is Mohrenstrasse. I chose this hotel because it said on the Agoda website that it had bathtubs, but in fact there were none. There were very few areas for clothes storage and I mostly lived out of a suitcase. There were... More

Stayed here for a long weekend in September. It's minimalist, but stylish. Very simple rooms, but well designed. Staff were very friendly and helpful (except they didn't re-stock our tea bags). Location is fantastic. 100 yards from checkpoint Charlie (suppose you have to visit). 100 yards from a section of the wall, and the history of terror exhibition (free, and... More

Very comfortable hotel in a central location. Friendly and helpful staff, good rooms without luxury but with the essential things for a good stay. Good breakfast with only a negative point: not so many places when in peak hours. Excellent location making a travel to the main places of Berlin very easy either by walk either by public transport. Very... More

Ideally located for visiting Berlin - literally next to Checkpoint Charlie and the Topography of Terror. Has been completely renovated so doesn't retain any feeling of history, fells very modern. Didnt use the restaurant so cannot comment. Rooms are good size and clean but no air conditioning. Rooms overlooking the central courtyard can hear all noise from peoples coming and... More

Firstly, the location for this hotel is fantastic if you are interested in exploring the historical locations throughout Berlin. The hotel is a short walk away from checkpoint charlie, which has a bus stop for the city bus tours and the Brandenburg gate is only a short walk also. The hotel staff were all pretty friendly and the rooms were... More

Location, location. Close to the metro, shops, restaurants. We had a front room with a view on to the little square (with what turned out to be a rather strange Claes Oldenburg sculpture) and the room was airy and bright if not huge. Overall design is a bit hip and modern, but friendly, as are the staff. There's a small... More

Superb location, in the middle of Mitte. The rather expensive rooms were very small, with hardly any space for hanging clothes. The window could only be openede very little and: NO AIRCONDITIONING anywhere in the hotel, which was a great drawback in very high temperatures, of more than 30 degrees Celsius (..) Very good breakfast, excellent and most helpfull and... More

Staying in Mitte

Neighborhood Profile
Mitte
The center of Berlin, Mitte is most famous for sights like the Brandenburg Gate, Alexanderplatz, and Museum Island. The central location makes this one of the city's most expensive places to live. It is here the oldest traces of the city can be found, and evidence of some significant transformations, as well. The gangsters that once ruled the impoverished streets between Alexanderplatz and Hackescher Markt have given way to an international crowd pursuing fashionable designer clothes, the newest food trends and frequenting the many craft shops. Graphic designers have taken up residence in what used to be backyard barns and stables. There are still vestiges of the old days, however. The occasional housing complex is a reminder of the neighborhood’s past. And if you look carefully, an old 1920s ball house nestled amongst the art galleries and exhibitions of Auguststrasse can still teach you how to dance the old fashioned way.
