The staff are friendly and extremely helpful, and the rooms are quirky and comfortable. If you don't stay in this hotel then at least visit the bar / social area to chill before a night out and for one of their great cocktails.

This hotel is perfect for a weekend break in Berlin and ideally situated for all the nearby bars, clubs and restaurants in Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg. The rooms are fairly basic but ideal if you are not spending much time in them and just need somewhere to get your head down. The rest of the hotel is great to hang out in, the... More

I always end coming back to this place, as it is really something original. I have tried several of the room options; cozy (perfect for one), loft (perfect for two) and band room (perfect for me and my two kids). All of the rooms have big windows, some facing the courtyard and some facing the street. I have not been... More

When I am in Berlin I need a place that has a relaxed ambiance, rooms with atmosphere, nice areas for taking meetings, with good drinks and food. Michelberger has all that and more. You don't want leave.

My friends and I enjoyed our recent stay at Michelberger for reasons including: Location, hotel design and cleanliness. The hotel is very well maintained inside and out and has a beautiful courtyard, ideal for relaxing after a heavy night. Opposite the station and just a short walk from several bars and restaurants, the hotel is well situated for revellers. Rooms... More

This hotel offered us great value for money. It is located perfectly for enjoying the best of what late night Berlin has to offer (down the street from both Berghain and Watergate) and getting quickly to other parts of town (it is across the street from a U-Bahn and S-Bahn station). The lobby is reminiscent of the hipster hotels you'd... More

My daughter stayed almost 3 weeks at this hotel. Since there are no safes in the rooms, she had to hid her money and important papers inside her luggage. One day she noticed that somebody took her money!!! At least whoever stole her money was kind enough to leave her passport and return ticket on the table. Management stated that... More

Michelberger hotel is something rather hotel: It's bit the cheapest, attracts a rather grown-up crowd (25-45), but due to the bar, backyard and restaurant it has kept a cool vibe keeping most families and elderly tourists away. This creates a unique atmosphere: a young hostel feeling in the commol areas, cool bar without some of the Berlin crazyness (but this... More

Berlin's equivalent of the Ace Hotel. Hipster-central but with a laidback attitude and friendly staff. Nice food too and excellent breakfast. Avoid the rooms overlooking Warschauerstrasse, at least in Summer: with the windows open it is noisy and with the windows closed it's too stuffy (no airco).

I had reserved a luxus room, and was asked about an upgrade when I arrived. I opted for it, and they put me in the hideout / hideaway room! It was amazing, and I made good use out of the sauna! I had to switch rooms during my trip for 1 night (to my originally booked room) and was upgraded... More

Staying in Friedrichshain

Neighborhood Profile
Friedrichshain
When you arrive at Warschauer Strasse in the heart of the district, you have found one of Berlin’s party hotspots. At night in Friedrichshain, the energy is palpable and the streets of this old worker's quarter are full of street musicians. On one hand, you may find a bar with international crowds, electronic music, long lines and panoramic views - on the other, an outside venue by old train yards featuring decrepit buildings and live alternative music. No matter your taste, the best way to end a night out in Friedrichshain is sitting by the Spree River at the East side gallery, the longest and best preserved piece of the Berlin Wall, watching the sun rise over the beautiful Oberbaum Bridge.
