Ideally situated in the heart of the old town, this is the classic place to stay in Rothenburg. We paid a little extra for a superior room and got a huge room with a sitting area and a good view at the front of the hotel. To say we paid only around £85 a night via ebookers, it was excellent value, although breakfast was another €19 each. What I noticed here was that the front desk staff seemed very happy and cheerful. They really wanted to make you feel welcomed. Their English was perfect, needless to say. We both slept very well in extremely comfortable and sizeable beds. Even an American would find the beds big enough!

The hotel’s common areas are beautiful and genuinely old. It’s a little bit of a rabbit warren because of that, but there are lifts to all floors, you just have to find them.

My only criticism was that the breakfast buffet was not kept stocked up and we had to ask the waitresses to replenish things like the eggs. However the choice and quality was good. I loved the crockery and cutlery used which was really high quality.

I would not hesitate to stay again. If you stay here, you are following in the footsteps of many famous guests from the past and you can see why.

We booked a “Standard Suite” and were given room 222. It is essentially two rooms with a small walk between. TWO full baths, a lounge area and two twin beds as a King.

The front desk and housekeeping staff were pleasant and efficient.

The grand staircase is quite nice. There are many facets to the main floor to include a child’s play room, quaint lobby, wine bar with library, outdoor dining space (closed due to weather during our stay) and a full service restaurant.

The restaurant was AMAZING. The best dining we have had our trip this far. 5 star service with 3 star prices. Even if you don’t stay here the menu and service are exemplary.

As for laundry service it is important to know it takes about 2-3 days to get it back sans weekends. Wash before or after visiting town.

Other reviews discussed the bathrooms. Both of the bathrooms we had in our room were spacious and clean. Both were a step in tub with a shower and glass doors. The water pressure and hot water were plentiful.

We only stayed one night, but wish we would have stayed longer. The hotel is located in a perfect area for walking around the town. Our room was big and spacious, very clean, with two full bathrooms. Breakfast was full of many options for a self serve meal. Can’t go wrong with scrambled eggs and bacon, and fresh fruit, but there was much more. The staff was very helpful with everyone of our questions. They will store your bags whether you show up early or check out and want to visit more of the town. Would recommend this to everyone.

Stayed in Hotel Eisenhut one night during the Christmas Market. This was our third stay in Rothenburg and never have we stayed in a hotel that was so nasty and the staff so rude. When entering the lobby, there was a moderate smell of septic or sewage but it did not extend to the upper floors. Our room was a "standard", small but with a bed, a chair, table with TV, two nightstands, and a small window. The furniture was exactly as depicted in the photos but looks are deceiving. Furniture looked like it was from IKEA or Walmart and not well made.

When we went into the bathroom, we were stunned that it was so outdated and old, and there was NO shower! The tiled walls, the flooring, sink/toilet, and the tub were all different colors and were pretty nasty. The toilet and sinks especially had cracks throughout and were stained badly. We immediately went down to the desk to ask for a room change as we needed a shower (my husband had surgery recently and is unable to take a bath). The desk staff immediately became very rude and we were told there were none available. They said that hotels over 500 years old do not have showers (not true, we've stayed in many that old with showers). When we asked if we could get a refund, they said no. We asked to speak to a manager and she was no help at all. We could not get a room with a shower as there are only five in the building and we could not get a refund for the room so we could go elsewhere.

This is our third stay in Rothenburg and the other two hotels were also over 500 years old but they had updated their bathrooms and they were lovely! There are so many options for stays in Rothenburg, the Eisenhut is not a good one! Neither the Eisenhut website nor their brochure showed photos of their bathrooms. Check out the websites thoroughly before booking and when they don't show photos of the bathrooms, there is a reason!

The hotel has a special localization, from there you can easily get to the important places to visit in the city. The bedroom is warm, clean, modern, confortable, and well decorated. The service is impeccably good, we had the opportunity to have dinner at the restaurant and we enjoyed a lot the food and the atmosphere of the ambient. The breakfast is full of delicious options. I do rally recommend Eisenhut hotel.

The photos are NOT what the Standard Double rooms we were given. We were extremely disappointed as the photos showed a very nice hotel and we looked forward to it. We were given room at the Eisenhut building across from the main hotel, clearly a lower tier accommodation. The pictures speak for themselves.

Great location, but know 4 Herngasse rooms for their other rooms across from the main hotel are not what is pictured on their website.

Very disappointed with the misrepresentation.

This hotel is in an outstanding location in the heart of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. We stayed when the Christmas markets were on so it was very busy but the staff were still friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious and the interior of the hotel appears to have been recently renovated. Would highly recommend.

We booked a superior room with valley view. It was in the main building and was spacious (especially the bathroom) and clean. We also had a lovely balcony which we spent a couple of afternoons sitting out on (even if it was December). What really made our stay was to discover our room had been stayed in previously by Winston Churchill. It was a lovely surprise.

This hotel is lovely and in a great location in Rothenburg. We ended up extending our stay as we loved the town so much.
The only negative in the room was there was no proper shower. We had to climb in a bath and use the shower hose, which was not secured high enough to use as a proper shower.
Otherwise a perfect stay, the staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Highly recommend this hotel
