This is a remarkable house. Dating back to the 13th century, it has been stylishly restored, without losing the historical atmosphere. The furniture is a mix of mahogany antiques and 1950s design, and the result is sublime. On top of this, everything is extremely well functioning, lighting, heating, even music. The position cannot be bettered, a few steps from St Peter's Dome and the banks of the Danube and, the big surprise: the house where the commander of the European navy that won the decisive battle against the Turks at Lepanto in1571 was born, a few metres from you, on the opposite corner! This is really history brushing you with its wings! Thomas Insam is the perfect host.
We really can't give a high enough evaluation of Domresidenz. Every detail is carefully and thoughtfully planned. Thomas is an excellent host and concierge. We were there over Christmas and he took the time to find which restaurants were open on both 24 and 25 December for us. He looking in to the best places to get a COVID test for our return travel and was just generally extremely helpful and kind. The apartment is well appointed and comfortable. We look forward to traveling back to Regensburg in the summer and won't even consider staying anywhere else.
My boyfriend and I spent the weekend in Regensburg and stayed at the Domresidenz. It is a charming boutique hotel woven into the heart of Regensburg. You find it between adorable shops and narrow stone pathways as you explore the cozy medieval city. The moment you walk into the hotel, you are immediately impressed with its warmth. The owners preserved the history of the building while adding modern touches. It is for this reason you don't feel like you are staying in a typical cold, over-stylized hotel. Instead, this boutique hotel is the perfect blend between old and new which adds to its unique charm. The hotel is impeccably clean, the linen has a fresh aroma, and the beds are extremely comfortable. As a woman, I appreciated the lovely and subtle decorating touches around the hotel and in the rooms. As a background, I come from the states but have lived in Germany for almost 5 years. I can recommend this hotel to both foreigners and locals alike. When you stay at Domresidenz, not only are you staying in the heart of the city but also in a piece of the fabric and history of Regensburg.…
DomResidenz is a fine, artful and comfortable blend of seven centuries--a late medieval building re-rendered in a beguiling contemporary minimalist style with a bit of empire style furniture to keep us grounded. It would be hard to overstate how comfortable we were in this efficient, quiet, and beautiful space in the very center of the most extant medieval city north of the Alps. Special thanks to the gracious and professional owner, who was present at check-in to offer guidance and assistance in planning our approach to this gem of a city--but otherwise an invisible presence who was immediately responsive to texts as necessary, and who promptly engaged post departure when I realized I had left behind some belongings, which he had couriered immediately to my hotel in Munich. It would be a slight exaggeration to say it's worth visiting the amazing Regensburg to stay at DomResidenz, but I couldn't imagine going back and staying anywhere else.…
Bye bye, Domresidenz, we had a great time ! Quiet, secluded but just in the middle of the old city. Everything you can need: WiFi, streaming and cooking. All that with charm and modernity. Our host, viva Thomas, is present to help with luggage (there is an elevator), reservations or advice. This is not a hotel but a tastefully arranged modern appartement in a house where there are three- one per floor. A great place to stay in this world heritage site city at all times, but making you feel safer now.
Excellent location. The apartment suite was great, clean, and tide. The owner of the hotel is very friendly and helpful, my in-laws had a great conversation about their antique furniture and the golf museum.
Beautiful clean, modern apartment with contemporary decor located in the heart of old town. Our apartment was on the 3rd floor and we like to walk, but there is also an elevator for people who can't do stairs. Located close to everything you will want to see with lots of restaurant and shopping options within steps of the building. The bed is DIVINE. Our only "complaints" were that the tv does not stay on wifi, and we would have liked a small sofa or gathering area to relax but overall everything was wonderfully appointed and perfect for either a short or long stay.
This place is spectacular! A historical building has been restored to perfection. The unit is on a pedestrian only street, but parking is easy and not far from the apartment. The owner is very responsive, helpful and kind. The unit is beautifully decorated and well equipped. It is located in the center of Old Town and everything there is within walking distance. I would highly recommend this property.
We were lucky to be able to stay in the top floor suite of the Domresidenz on our recent trip to Regensburg. A beautiful and sensitive heritage renovation/restoration. The bed of your dreams and a pocket view down a narrow medieval street to the Dom (the Cathedral). Beautifully furnished, well appointed kitchen and bathroom. So comfortable and just the perfect location from which to explore! Thomas Insam is a genial, efficient and justifiably proud host - as well as being very helpful with recommendations for restaurants and the like. Highly recommended!
Best accommodations and location in Regensburg can be found at the Domresidenz. Beautiful suites that are fully equipped and in the center of everything! Thomas, the owner, is the perfect host and always available if any needs or information is needed. And, there is a golf museum attached - Thomas' father's years of collecting is really interesting. Rates very reasonable as well. This is our new go-to place when staying in Regensberg for business or pleasure.
