The IBB Hotel Passau is located in the heart of Passau, the ,,Three-River City". The hotel is situated at the Danube and lies opposite the train station. It takes a shortly 5 min walk to the old-town where you can start your city-sightseeing. The Danube bicycle path behind our house invites you for biking or walking tours. Most landing places of river cruises are comfortable to reach by foot. If you arrive by car, you can use the underground car park "Donaupassage", integrated in our hotel building, for only a small fee. Excellent traffic connections make it easily to come to us. You can reach fairs of Passau and the motorways comfortably from our hotel. Lots of restaurants, shopping facilities and cafes are all in the immediate vicinity.

Our initial reaction to seeing the IBB Hotel in Passau was one of shock.....the entrance area was full of construction material, the entrance was difficult to locate and very down market. However, once you’re in, it’s a delightful place to stay. The construction is not part of the hotel, but adjacent buildings. The construction noise was non existent. The location, if you’re getting in by train is the best. You literally get out of the station, cross a largely pedestrian street with hardly any traffic, climb down a flight of stairs....and you’re there! The staff are very friendly and helpful. In fact two them very kindly helped us take our bags back up the stairs during our departure. Our room was the largest Ive seen in Europe and was very well appointed with sensible, well placed furniture. There was a large flat screen TV, minibar, air conditioning and comfortable beds. The bathroom was also large and very functional. Breakfast was served in a very large, cheerful restaurant and the offerings were all you would expect. There is a courtyard with chairs, tables and sun umbrellas where you can ask to be served beverages and probably meals too. It’s also the designated smoking area. Several areas with restaurants, bars and shopping are a short simple walk from the hotel. Plenty of options for eating out. We spent a very comfortable and happy day at this hotel and would love to visit again for a longer stay.

Hard to know where to start.... the hotel being run down is the least of your concerns (old furniture, scratched desk, dark hallways, etc.). The room smelled. And it was HOT despite it being October and cool outside. Like, freaking HOT. The AC ran the heat in my room and my coworkers' rooms - I guess the AC is turned off this time of year but ... holy crap. HOT. So, I opened the window, only to realize there was construction going on outside my room ALL NIGHT LONG. So, I closed the window, baking in the heat, and could still hear the construction. LOUD. Ok, so that's beyond the hotel's control. However, my coworker arrived in the early afternoon after a red eye flight, tried to nap and couldn't due to ... hotel construction. She asked to be moved, and they had nothing else. Then, when we were checking out, I realized I left my key in the room. And they wanted to charge me five euros for not having it. Seriously. Final insult? The elevator to the basement / parking garage was broke, so we had to carry our heavy luggage down a few flights of UNLIT stairs. If I could give them zero stars, I would. WORST HOTEL I'VE EVER STAYED AT BY FAR.

The IBB Hotel Passau City Centre is located opposite the train station in the centre of Passau. The hotel is also very near the the Danube River, just a 2 minutes walk away. Easily walk from the hotel to the historic city centre. Friendly service and the rooms are ok.

We spent the night during our family vacation, cycling on the Danube. Good service, with a dedicated parking hall for the bikes. The rooms are big and comfortable enough if you do not plan to spend too much time inside, although the hotel might benefit from a global renovation.

In Our Central European summers these days, air con is a necessity for a comfortable stay, yet most German hotels do not offer it. This hotel is a creditable exception. The staff were friendly. Breakfast was free and huge. Parking is only available in the underground garage at the rear of the hotel and an additional charge applies (but not too extortionate). Room was comfortable and spacious. Wi-fi was OK, as was the shower. Location is quite central. About a 10 minute walk to the old town.
