Super thoughtful reception staff who had personalised welcome signs in the rooms, treats for the dog and the location right by weissgerbergasse in the middle of the beautiful old town is hard to beat. Given the location I expected small rooms and was pleasantly surprised, modern interiors, clean, spacious and comfortable.
We also tried the Thai restaurant downstairs, a healthy yummy dinner.

The room was nice with two comfortable chairs and a nice bathroom with shower. We had to carry our suitcase up the stairs as there is no life in this part of the building, but that was okay.
The breakfast was goof . They ask you the night before to book a specific time for breakfast , but when we went to breakfast at the time we chose only about 4 tables were occupied. It would be nicer to be able to choose when to go to breakfast in the morning, rather than make a decision the night before. The selection and quality of the bread and pastries was excellent, there was also fruit salad, cheeses , very nice home made jam, scrambled eggs . mini sausages and as well as cereal etc. The staff were friendly, and we slept well. We only stayed one night as we were en route to a Rhine cruise

This is a gem of a hotel. Although it only rates 3 stars, it's very comfortable and immaculately clean. Its situation is ideal--within the old city, but out of the hustle of the tourist spots. The lobby and breakfast areas are attractive but dated. However, the rooms we had were clearly recently furnished, large, and very comfortable. Like many German buildings, it has thick windows which exclude street noise. And unlike most German hotels, it has air conditioning! Buffet breakfast was excellent both mornings. Service was friendly and and helpful. We will visit again!

I love this hotel and would not even consider staying anywhere else. I have stayed at this hotel every year for over a decade. It is truly my home-away-from-home. Mr. Horka and his wonderful staff make every stay perfect. I am very grateful!

Located within the walls so it is near everything a tourist needs. We had a room for 3 people and it was fairly adequate. Bathroom was very small.

Parking is in an open area opposite the hotel. Not sheltered. But just across the street. Paid 15 eur per night for the parking.

Not outstanding but fair value. I will stay again.

The hotel is brilliantly located for the centre of town and the Christmas Market.
Unfortunately our room was horrid, with a couple of steps down like going down into a storeroom, the window opened onto a very small lightwell, so no natural light. The pinky/lilac walls were very sickly with no natural light. And because the window opened inwards, it was difficult to have window open for a little fresh air, if you wanted to have the curtains closed for privacy at night.
Having said that, it was clean and the bed was very comfortable.
It was quiet when the extractor fan (from kitchen?) outside the window was switched off later at night.
My daughter's single room across the hall was much nicer, and had a window to the front of the property.
Breakfast was good with a selection of breads, pastries, cold meats and cooked sausages and eggs, it is charged as extra.
For some reason we were charged for 3 breakfasts on the day we left, despite settling the bill the night before, explaining that we would be leaving early in the morning, before breakfast! Didn't notice until we got home, I am sure that it would not have been a problem to remove this cost had we checked at the time.
The staff were friendly and helpful and recommended places to have dinner etc.
I would recommend this hotel, I just found our particular room to be rather depressing, I did peek into a couple of other rooms that seemed to be a lot better.
A charming, quirky hotel, I guess some rooms are better placed than others!

After reading the reviews on this hotel we decided to stay here over Christmas 2014 as the reviews led us to believe that it was family run and friendly which is just what we were after whilst away from home at Christmas and on our honeymoon. Unfortunately we found that the staff were so unfriendly and rude that we felt unwelcome and uncomfortable in the hotel. On checking in - we walked in the door put down our luggage and stood at the reception counter waiting to be served. The receptionist avoided eye contact with us for 3 or 4 minutes until I asked her if we could check in. This seemed like an inconvenience for her. Later that day we walked through the reception area not knowing that the floors had just been mopped and were scowled at by the same person. Throughout our 3 night stay not once were we greeted by a staff member. No hello's, good morning's or good evenings. Even if we said good morning or hello to the staff they just ignored us. On Christmas morning the cleaner was extremely unimpressed that we were still in our room at 9am when she wanted to clean it. She then sat on the stairs outside our room until we left so she could clean it. The staff had the same attitude at breakfast as well. It's a pity because the room amenities were quite good, a little stark without any character but comfortable all the same and the location was really good and an easy walk to everywhere we wanted to go.

The front elevation leaves you in no doubt you have selected a special building. A beautiful old traditional German style. The bar and small reception area are very atmospheric with great old timbers and huge old atmosphere. Service was very friendly and English was no problem. I arrived very late at night and had a very top floor room. It was quite a long trek with my bags up several flights of old stairs. My room was very clean and the bed comfortable. The On suite was also clean and very functional. The room was ok but maybe the decor not to all tastes. Maybe I had an older room in terms of decor but it was ok. Please expect creaky floors and stairs. The location is perfect for a stroll in the altstadt and I had a lovely typical Nuremberg sausage dinner just round the corner. Breakfast was nicely laid out . If I return I would request a room on a lower floor.

Room Tip: if you have a case and bags request a low floor room as there is no lift and quite old staircases...
