#14 of 92 B&Bs / Inns in Munich
We've always dreamed of creating our own hotel - and are keen to introduce guests from all over the world to our idea of a perfect stay in our hometown, the beautiful city of Munich. The Flushing Meadows Hotel & Bar is for aficionados, who appreciate at- tention to detail, design and personalized service. The space is an intimate alternative for guests that have seen their share of nondescript business hotels. It may not be for everyone - but it may be just the place for you... Our hotel is situated on the top two floors of an industrial building in Munich's most vibrant neighborhood, the Glockenbach - just a couple of me- ters from the Isar's wild river banks. The third floor features 11 individual rooms with exceptionally high ceilings, each created in collaboration with selected personalities and friends from various creative realms, including music, cinema, design, sports and art. The top floor is home to five variously sized rooms, three of these with private terrace - as well as the Flushing Meadows Bar. This haven for locals and guests alike, serves exquisite drinks and boasts a panorama view over the southern roofs of Munich from our sunny terrace. The Flushing Meadows is an homely retreat and inspiring meeting place for open-minded guests. Servus, it's great to have you!

We enjoyed our time here but probably wouldnt stay again. The room missed some touches, (eg- we had to plug in all the lamps when we arrived as they were unplugged, the complimentary bottles of water werent replaced in the room after day 1), but the basics were great. A lovely bedroom with high ceilings and cool features. On the positives, we had cocktails one night in the bar and really enjoyed it. The reception also helped me book dinner one night and even recomended an excellent sushi place. We enjoyed the complimentary crossiants and coffee in the bar on our last morning, we probably would have gone here every morning however we werent aware that this was on offer! There should be a sign in the hallway/in the rooms inviting hotel guests up in the morning for a complimentary coffee and pastry. However this is a fun design hotel. It felt a bit more of an air b&b as there isnt a recpetion when you enter but if youre looking for a relaxed and chilled out spot, you will like it here.

Location is good, close to the Glockenbachviertel which has lots of trendy shops, cafes and restaurants. BUT, never again!!! Only 3 parking spaces in the garage for 12 rooms; recommended parking garage 15 min walking distance, heating/ac did not work, no staff after 5PM, could not charge bar tab to room, no baggage unloading possibility…

I arrived late. The reception closes at 5 pm during the pandemic. After that time, everything works automatically - the room key jumped out of a hidden safe and I walked through an entrance that reminded me of a disco in the early 1970s into a black staircase. Slightly spooky... In the staircase a pop-art picture of 1970's German film director Rainer Werner Fassbinder and his star Hanna Schygulla, two people I knew and worked with. I took the elevator to the rooms and ended up in a bright corridor leading to my Japanese styled room. Everything else was closed. Next day, finally, I met living people: the two young ladies that manage the place. And they were frankly the nicest people I ever met in a Munich hotel. Whatever wish I could possibly have (a differently designed room, a bathroom with a different shower, tea facilities, a charger for my mobile) they tried to fulfill it in a second. It didn't feel like a hotel, it rather felt like an eccentric second home with lots of charm and a weird, funny design. I moved from the all-white Japanese room to an all-black DJ studio with a working DJ turntable, record collection and a rock band of black skeletons over my bed. The ceilings in the guest rooms show concrete and pipes to give it a loft kind of feeling. Well... Huge bathroom, walkable cupboard and a great view over the city. All rooms are perfectly clean and Covid-related safety measures are 100%. The vivid "Glockenbachviertel" with its many cafes, bars and restaurants is a perfect starting point to explore Munich or meet people. Since every room was designed by somebody else, it is a kind of gamble in which environment you end up with, but with the help of the wonderful staff you will always have a great time. The rooftop reception works Wednesday to Saturday also as a bar with a great view over Munich. And during reception hours it is also the cosiest place to relax with a tea, coffee or croissant. Not necessarily for the design, but for the lovely reception, the nice little details in the room and the great location I will definitely come back.

If your know what boutique hotels are that this one certainly ticks all the boxes. Go for the penthouse - having wine during sunset there is wort all the money. After you had that wine, go to the bar which serves great cocktails. The location is all you could ask for. Great places for breakfast and lunch within walking distance. If you re a jogger, its just by the river where you can run for as long as 20km (or more). Very friendly and helpfull staff but not so typical in terms of front desk experience (if that's what you re after).

The location of the hotel is the best thing about it as it is really close to the Underground, the river, lots of nice little independent shops and bars/restaurants. The interior design is cool, but the mattresses were not great, they were really soft. We stayed in the 3rd floor under the bar. Unfortunately there was a private function and it was really loud in our room. There was only coffee (nespresso) on offer in the room, but 2 capsules are rather meagre for the room price. (there was no mini-bar, no tea, just two complimentary 2 small bottles of water). The self check-in was well explained and easy to do.
