We just returned after a 4 day weekend in Munich staying at the Charles. As others have noted, the staff is what makes this hotel stand out from many of the other 5 star hotels we have stayed at all over the world. From the first welcome by Victoria when we pulled up to Leo helping us get everything sorted as we were leaving everyone went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. The hotel itself is beautiful and modern in a relaxing kind of way. Great pool and spa.
I can only reiterate what other reviewers have stated- fabulous staff. Can’t say enough about them all. We visited the Hotel in early August- 2 adults and two young children. From the start as we drove into the portico with a car laden from an extended road trip through Tirol - complete 100% full service. For me the initial reception from staff, particularly at the front desk is an indicator of how things will go. I travel around 200+- days per year for work and I have come to learn that the initial interaction is key. The staff were welcoming, friendly, patient and accommodating. My four year old always wants to be included in the conversations and the Hotel had a child specific step ladder for this- an indication that children are welcome. And are they! Everything that could be provided to not only accommodate, but make children feel important, had been thought of. Child sized slippers, bath robes, hair care products, nice tins with coloring material and lovely Steiff Löwe (Lions) one for each child. If you travel with a young family you will appreciate that these things make a difference. The room was not overly lavish, but perfect. The bed, amenities, service- all great. Our view was spectacular. The breakfast was also great- the staff patient and friendly wanting to ensure that the start of the day was positive. The food was amazing! I eat lots of breakfasts away from home at hotels and the offer and cooking here were at the top. The dinner menu was not so extensive, but I must say that the food we ordered for dinner- a burger and a club sandwich were gourmet. The dessert was great- we live in Vienna and are used to great desserts- the Charles gastronomy is spot on. Parking is on site and the lots are spacious for large vehicles. We had a full itinerary to visit beautiful Munich and some family so we were unable to enjoy the spa or the pool. The bottom line here is that The Charles Hotel is worth a visit. It is super clean, all your needs are immediately attended to, location is perfect, the property excellent, the room large and comfortable- bathroom is, as was described in a previous review- fabulous! The location is great also if you are a runner. Great access to running in the Old City early and easy and nice access to extended running in the English Garden- upon your return you can cool down with a nice bottle of cool San Pellegrino water. All of this is perhaps expected at a 5 star hotel. What really set this Hotel apart from many others I have visited, alone or with my family, was the staff and the attention to children and any needs you may have. I have lost the names of the front desk staff who were wonderful. The Rocco Forte HQ should be aware that they have great staff at this property. I want to thank Ms. Carina Müller, Font Office Manager for a great stay and all the young ladies and young men who engaged with us- particularly for their interaction and patience with Maximilian’s and his many questions. We will for sure return to The Charles in the future- Maximilian asks- when? I cannot overstate how wonderful the experience was. Thanks to all the staff.! Vielen Dank…
We had two nights here in late July, and loved the service. Really nothing was too much trouble. Clearly getting to some form of travel during Covid is tricky, but this hotel could not have done more. Fabulous breakfasts, great rooms with views over a park, a short walk to two biergartens (the Augustiner-Keller (v.good) and Park Cafe) and an easy location to get to the main sites by taxi. Perfect stop. Thanks.
This is my second review of the Charles Hotel in Munich. The only reason why I am writing it is to honor the excellence in service that we received. It is Corona times, so there are less guests, which makes it is easier to serve us well. But what we got as a service was more than outstanding. All the time greeted by our names, whatever request we had it was solved immediately. An excellent breakfast, eggs Benedict - never eaten it better. When we forgot to empty the safe when we left and had to come back, Mr Wertschulte had already prepared a new room key so that we could quickly go back into our rooms. If I could imagine perfect service in a hotel, this is how it would look like. Thank you!
A fairly new hotel, good location! Breakfast is good and the location is not far from where everything is. The surroundings of the hotel are beautiful, The rooms are spacious, however not luxurious, and the bathrooms in my opinion are the best in European hotels. They are clean, large. The hotel overall is very upscale, luxury even. Every staff there is friendly and enthusiastic, big thumbs up to the front desk and bellman for being so helpful
