The hotel did a number of things well, but rather too many things not well. The client-facing staff are just wonderful - friendly, professional, at least bilingual (if not more) and can’t do enough to make you feel comfortable and take care of any issues. Nothing is a problem to them. Food was great. Room impeccably quiet ( despite being on a very noisy road and next to main train station.) Large bathroom, good shower, very large and comfortable bed. Lots of mirrors, adding to the spacious feel. Nice touches, such as automatic lights in the wardrobes. Quite delightful turndown staff. But. The room was a good size but overall, dark, most because of the chosen decor and the poorly placed lighting. Despite having over TEN different lights. The room is mostly done out in black and dark brown, from brown ceiling through wardrobes ( dark brown), large black TV, black tables x 2, and dark (brown? purple? Too dark to make out ) bathroom panels. I was there a few days before I found a USB and plug sockets almost invisible on the dark brown strip next next to the bed. There are multiple lights all over the room, all operated differently, with 2 angled neatly to shine straight into your eyes when you walk in. They point in different directions, except where I wanted them. No good for reading in bed, and difficult to find things on dark surfaces. The room cleaning/servicing was so poor initially (eg, evidence of previous occupants in shower (ick) I complained, after which it greatly improved. It was very hard to find hotel info — my iPad was playing up and it all seemedto be designed for you to scan. I was too travel weary to persist. It took three attempts to get firmer pillows. One chap turned up, we agreed which type and he went away. I never saw him again, nor any different pillows either. I had to leave notes pointing out things to refill, like conditioner in the shower. As for the “reading material” in my room (“Sanitary fittings in Stainless Steel”? Century Laminates?) I couldn’t decide whether it had been put there for the look, or some traveller had left stuff behind and no one noticed. When checking out, I was distinctly underwhelmed to be told that no car and driver had been booked, as agreed with one of the reception staff a day before. Sorry madam, a mistake, we will call you a taxi. Overall, I thought the hotel sleek and very stylish, but while it promises a lot it failed to deliver. I’ve had much better service and cleaning at hotels that didn’t charge premium rates and prices. I expected better. I would not choose Sofitel again. I those who value style over substance, will probably love it.

The perfect hotel. Very luxurious and perfectly located near the central station and Carlsplatz. Beautiful and comfortable rooms, and a very good breakfast. The service was outstanding and the staff is always wearing a friendly smile. Will definitely return to this hotel when in Munich.

I stayed at the Sofitel Hotel for the entire duration of a conference at the ICM in Messegelände- and I could not have picked a more perfect spot to stay. That is because of its central location, just a few steps away from the Central station, where efficient, punctual service got me to and from my destination in about 25 minutes. Munich is a roadworks nightmare at present. The cab driver from the airport said it’s the worst he has seen in his 20 years. The last Km to the hotel took 10 minutes by cab- it would have been as fast to walk. But the hotel retains its magnificent presence as an oasis of calm in the midst of all of this, despite the construction encroaching upon its very doorstep. I noticed that the al-fresco bar was full every night, with locals, who seemed to appreciate the convenience and quality as much as the guests. Breakfast was exceptional, as per Sofitel standards. I would like to extend thanks again to Freddy who oversaw the service and consistently ensured I had every wish catered to- even to providing me with a takeaway sandwich bag! Also a special mention for Ramos the bellman, who did not let me walk a step further with the luggage than I needed, and provided cartons of water for the onward journey which came in very handy indeed. The Sofitel has again delivered on its reputation for impeccable service even in the midst of challenging times.

Great hotel in the center of Munich. It is next door to the central railway station and is a heaven of serenity and elegance. We had a small glitch at the reception when we arrived as the first person failed to recognize us correctly although he did glance at my passport. He assigned us to the wrong room category which was lower than the one I ordered. Luckily I caught the mistake in time so we returned to another person who corrected the mistake. Our room faced the garden and had a nice view of the city. It was large and clean and had all the amenities including a nesspresso machine. Bath was also very large and nice. Breakfast was great and the servers went out of the way to help and get you drinks etc. The welcome drink at the bar was also very nice. Basically, excellent quality as one would expect from Sofitel. Overall, I definitely recommend it and will definitely return when in Munich.

We arrived early and were greeted with a very kind, courteous, and efficient receptionist who quickly delt with our reservation. The room was clean and of a good standard though the windows don’t open for fresh air. The air conditioning is good. Breakfast was excellent and the health club very good and not busy. We did not eat in the other restaurant. Location is excellent and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

Our checkin wasn’t great. We extended our stay via Expedia but the property didn’t have record of us arriving. The reception staff tried to assist and we were given a drink voucher for the inconvenience. Liked the gesture. The food, particularly the breakfast was the only good thing about this property. The staff are generally unfriendly. The room we had was run down, smelled mouldy. There was black mould in the shower grout, the shower flooded - drainage appeared to be poor. I had allergy like symptoms when in the room but I cannot say if this was the room itself that caused it for sure. The location is right next to the central station and while convenient, has all sorts of dodgy people around. We didn’t feel safe. We’ve stayed in different Sofitels in the past and this was the worst so far. And no, we prefer not to be Accor members.

For a 5-star hotel I expected a lot more. The Room- The jr. Suite for a family of 4 was just okay. The couch bed was very firm and not comfortable. The furniture was tired and showed a lot of wear. The desk lamp didn’t work. The cleaning service was mediocre at best- no new water glasses left on mini bar, robes and towels not replaced, in-room slippers- I was left with 3 (not pairs, just three slippers). 🤷🏼‍♀️ The main bed was very comfortable and the sheets very soft….. this was a plus. The bathroom- very small for a family of 4. The drains smelled of the sewer. The toiletries reeked of perfumes. Way too strong. Some people don’t like over-powering scents and this should be taken into consideration by the hotel. Ordered room service several times and it arrived on time, and staff was professional and friendly but the food was barely warm. Each time, weren’t given enough silverware and even when requested, no ice was given. The pool….. where should I start. NOT FAMILY FRIENDLY at all. I don’t mean babies, but for older children. Not enough seating. Staff working in pool/spa area basically interrogated me upon entering. Made demands, rather than asking politely for my information, etc… Later, I was sitting in one chair and had another chair with robes and towels on it waiting for my two children to exit the pool. The woman working demanded my chair for another person and told me it would only be needed for 5 minutes. I gave her my chair and had to pile up 3 robes and 3 towels on a tiny table….. no where else to put them. The chair was never returned to me. The staff were rude, unprofessional and I noticed their behavior was consistent with everyone entering the pool area. At one point the staff were even arguing in front of several guests. It was very busy but there’s no excuse for their behavior.

It sure looks like there were some major flaws within our spa/pool organization including the behaviour of the staff. Sorry to also learn that our room service was less than satisfactory. I appreciate your honest and very detailed critique which will be the basis for discussions within our local team - and a careful evaluation of the root of these problems. Thank you for your effort to provide feedback for us, as we see it as a chance to act promptly on behalf of our valued guests. The service has been fantastic from the start. We have been dealing with the reservations office for our two groups (total 31 guests) and we were taken care of in a great way. The personnel on site has also been very professional and friendly! Especially the bellboys taking care of valet parking and luggage etc. The rooms were very nice, comfortable and clean. And most important->quiet! The only thing that we didn’t like was that the bar closes too early. If you return from a dinner after a long business day, you want to be able to soend some fun time at the bar :-) If circumstances allow, we would be more than happy to come back for the next business trip to Munich.
