We had booked 3 rooms, all nice and comfortable but small. Shower in 1 of the rooms had a blocked drain which was quickly fixed when we let reception know. Will charge extra if you want your room cleaned daily. No door on bathroom/shower area, not a big issue but would be nice. Overall, would stay again, easy access to train.

We checked in easily and expected a small room so where not surprised at all. Restaurants nearby where good and access to train station. Unfortunately as we had to catch a very early train we inadvertently left our travel documents and passports in our room, it was very dark when we left and we did not noticed the black folder. On calling the hotel we where told they would contact the cleaning company, after many return calls it was to no avail and we were in a pickle, apparently the cleaner never saw them. We diverted our holiday plans and caught a night train to Venice so we could go to the Australian Embassy and arrange new passports, the Embassy also rang the hotel to no avail and claimed they where most unhelpful. Such a shame as we had enjoyed our stay but would of course not recommend any hotel who where unhelpful, and Gambino was one of those. Margôt Walter

Design hotel at the heart of the newest, coolest place to be in Münich — the Werksviertel area which was built on a former industrial zone and has a rich offer of restaurants and bars for all tastes 20mins from Deustches Museum and 30mins walk from Marienplatz. Falling asleep while looking at the observation wheel all lit up for the night from your window … not to be missed !

This hotel is pretty much next to East Central Station of Munich. Rooms are very simple and small. There is a double bed, however, little space around the bed to move around. There is a shower and toilet. The Hotel does not have breakfast amenities. Perhaps the most disturbing thing was that midnight the hotel staff gave by error, the same room to somebody else. So at midnight somebody else walked into my room, which gave me a big shock. Hotel staff said the system made an error, to my opinion do hotel is good for business travel, and for a single person only.

Stayed twice - first time was what others have described before - tiny but clean room in a hipster area that gets rather loud at night. Second time was as above but arrived 2 and a bit hours before their official check in time of 15:00. They offered an early check-in for 20 Euros so now I'm sitting in their lobby with my toddler waiting until 15:00. It's unkind; to stay within TripAdvisor's review guidelines - I'd call it a few other things, quite frankly. No return business from me.

This hotel was a great surprise. Clean and so comfortable. Friendly staff and the hotel is just a block to the train station, a one hour walk into Munich. It is also above restaurants and cafes. Loved it!

I'm a tour guide and stay away from home for almost half the year, in hotels. You won't see much criticism from me on online platforms. Nevertheless, this deserves a very negative criticism. I stayed at the Gambino Hotel Werksviertel for two days, April 19th and 20th (of 2023). As I was dealing with my guests who happened to be staying at another hotel, I got to my room late and wanted to sleep right away. I couldn't believe my eyes that an insect had actually run into my bed. But when I lifted the mattress, I actually saw it again and videotaped it. Gambino is a hotel chain that offers a free water and bottle of beer to their customers who opt-out to have housekeeping during their stay. The hotel is said to be cutting back on cleaning staff and passing the savings back to its customers in the form of free water and beer. What a great idea ha!? And the hygiene? "Well it might not work perfectly; but at least you get your beer for free"... I don't know what you would think but for me I'd rather turn down a beer and water a day but make sure the room, where I live is properly cleaned. As you can imagine, being in the hospitality industry myself, I insisted on speaking to the manager on duty and there was neither a manager nor a supervisor present in the night shift, which was another surprise to me. However, the receptionist assured me that "he e-mailed my contacts to the manager; so I should expect him to call me tomorrow". When I asked to change my room, I received one right away. But even this second one, although (thank God) no insects were sighted, was not cleaned properly, either (and I claim this based on the hair and feathers found on the ground next to the baton, which I also photographed). While checking out, I asked the manager one more time and the receptionist told me "the Manager was very busy but would certainly call." As you can imagine, nobody called me the next day or ever. For me this hotel is a no-go; by the way, my agency booked me there (meaning I didn't pay a cent to stay; and even then, I wouldn't ever stay here, again). Yet, you would pay money to stay here; I would humbly suggest that you reconsidered.

The Gambino Hotel is a charming Hotel away from the hustle and bustle of Munich City. Situated in the Artistic and Bohemian Environment of the Ost Bahnhof. A very welcoming receptionist and quick check-in. I booked the Speciale Grande Room. The actual space of the room is somehow constrained by a separate bed in the room. If there's just one person in the room why should there be another bed turning it into a family room? I was told that is the normal set-up of such a room. The pictures on the website do not depict an extra bed. I did not like the bedding - the duvet felt as if washed wrongly instead of dry-cleaning. The feathers formed little bundles in its pockets. The flat sheet moved with every twist and turn throughout the night. Annoying fixing the bed during the night. What happened to the good old fitted sheet? Lovely fluffy white towels and cleaning service each day. The bathroom is very spacious and super clean. No breakfast is offered here, but there are coffee-making facilities in the room. The Hotel encourages visitors to support local businesses where one can get breakfast. Unfortunately, everything in that area was closed. Also adjacent to Lobby, there is a coffee machine and a snack machine. The latter accepts only card payments. The sandwich I bought from the snack machine came straight from the freezer and was tasteless. The Hotel is within walking distance of the Ostbahnhof which mainline Trains and SBahn frequent. Plenty of shopping opportunities are situated within the Ost Bahnhof. All in all a pleasant place to stay for 2-3 days in Munich.

I was fortunate enough to visit here Wednesday 7th December and would like to thank in Particular Niki Gunther who was so very helpful and a credit to the Hotel. People are quick to criticise and very slow to praise, but I would like to say a huge thank you for the help and friendliness I received when I visited. Many thanks.

It has been a year since I first stayed at this hotel and was impressed by the fantastic style and service. I just came back a few weeks ago, I can now confirm that it is and will be the best hotel in Munich. The staff are still fantastic and you are treated as if you were friends with them. I can definitely recommend staying here when you are in Munich, as it is close to the train station and there are good prices for the rooms. Will definitely be back again in 2023. Can't wait.... :-)
