It's location! It's just a short walk to Neuschwanstein castle. If you drive you can go right up the road which otherwise is not opened to other traffic. There is no reception after 5pm when the restaurant closes and the staff leave. We arrived late and someone told us to ring th

My husband and I stayed overnight at this inn after visiting the castle.
Pros: the restaurant/inn is about 3/4 of the way up the hill. Staying there means you get to park there, which was convenient -- we didn't have to walk or pay a carriage up the majority of the hill to the c

We enjoyed our stay in the hotel, very helpful and friendly staff. Food is also excellent, so clean rooms and toilets, and fresh air outside. The area is very nice, and the hotel is so close to the castle.

I was there with a friend two nights. We came with a arental car from minuch, and the way was very easy. We both are phiotographers and wanted to stay near the castle so we could go shooting the castle at sunset and sunrise time and the place was perfect for that. Hotel was ok, I

Since the hotel is mainly operated as a restaurant, the accommodation is just a deputy business, and the restaurant is closed at 6 o'clock. All staff will be gone at 6 pm. I stayed for two nights at the end of June (the room price is EUR130 per night and actually it's not cheap).

If we buy the tickets ahead of time online for the castle do we still need to go to the ticket office? Also what times can the castle be accessed for the tours. What is the earliest you can drive up and get in? also do you only offer tickets for the Neuschwanstein Castle or are others available onsite as well. Thank you
you will see details when you apply online. you must go to the ticket office, they will validate you reservation and give you tickets. it is good, you might be lucky and change them, for example if you arrive earlier you might enter with another group instead of waiting

We are arriving in September at around 10:00 am. Would you suggest getting a pass at the hotel and seeing the castle the same morning or wait until the next day? Everything I've read says that the only tickets are in town.
Tickets are only in town and you can only pick them up in the day you want to visit. You need to get the the ticket office really early. The queue was massive while we were there. I did go onto the castle website though and reserve my tickets. There is a reserved ticket queue which was about an hour or so quicker than the other. Have a fab holiday!

We are staying overnight here on June 30. Can you clarify for me about tickets to tour the castle? I have read about the hotel giving a voucher to buy tickets right at the top by the castle and then others saying you have to buy tickets down in the town and then others saying buy tickets online beforehand. What should I do? Thanks Kristi
Hi Kristi - We purchased our castle tickets at the Hotel Villa Ludwig (the hotel we stayed prior to this one), which was very convenient. There is also a ticket center in town. I do not remember a place to purchase tickets at the hotel (I wasn't looking because we purchased at the hotel). I would suggest buying tickets at your hotel or at the ticket center in town. One of the nice things about Scholssrestaurant Newschwanstein is that has a parking lot and is located just below the castle. Enjoy your trip! mike

Hi, imhave read some reviews that say tickets can bought at the castle and others say you yave to buy them from the town below. Please could someone clarify?
You can buy tickets to both castles (Neuschwanstein and Hohenshwangau) at the ticket office at the town below. Neuschwanstein tickets we were able to buy straight at the castle (found out by accident when I came up to the castle from the hotel for information). You can pre-order the tickets online as well for a particular day and time, and pick up at the main ticket office.
