The hotel is very commercial and you could be anywhere. The breakfast was buffet style and was good, varied and plentiful. If you have the evening meal, stay away from the potato dumplings! A tasteless bizarre sticky thing that if you try to cut stays...More
The stay in the the hotel was generally okay, but for the high price there were a few disappointments:
- check-in took forever and we were the only ones at the counter, it almost felt like we were checked at an airport security.
we had driven from Italy, and found the hotel a little hard to find. Once there the hotel was wonderful, with a great pool. The view from the room window of the mountains was great. It was a very short walk into the town centre,...More

We are looking forward to welcome you soon again at our hotel.
Although the staff were generally friendly, particularly the restaurant staff, check in seemed to take forever. The rooms are not air conditioned so windows provide the ventilation on hot days and nights, this is problematic as the road noise and a church clock which strikes...More

There is some snow all year round at the top of the Zugspitze, although the skiing tends to be only 6 months. Looking at the webcam from earlier today it looks like its all gone for this year. In October there may be snow again. However the official ski season only starts 16 November. You could send an email to the ski information service to see if there's likely to be skiing in October, although it sounds doubtful. (Try bergfex com)
There is a good information service including webcams, so you can check it out yourself (Google 'Zugspitze webcam', or the webcams on bergfex com).
The best way to the top of the Zugspitze is by mountain railway, which runs from the main station in the middle of GP. You can get a ski-pass ticket that includes the railway. The railway takes about 1 hour (a little more) each way.
