Nice, cozy, family hotel. Excellent location, near the Mannheim center, the Water Tower and the Bahnhof /Main train station/. Clean and comfortable. Delicious breakfast. Polite and kind attitude. Wonderful place.
Here for 3 nights with a friend to visit our daughters who are spending summer working in Mannheim. Really special small family run hotel only minutes from the train & bus station. Attention to detail is amazing, the place throughout is spotless and the bedrooms have everything you need. Breakfast was delicious. Family running the hotel couldn’t have been nicer. Rare in this day and age to find somewhere so homely and welcoming. Hopefully will get to return someday.
Hotel chosen given to its proximity to the main train station in Mannheim. It's very well located (only 1 block away from bahnhof), and also close to the main shopping streets. Very nice and polite people running it, all spotless and cozy and nice. As pointed out by others, breakfast is amazing. Only problem, but one that they clearly state on their website, is the lack of lift. However, what might surprise some people is that some rooms are on the 4th floor (like ours), so any luggage other than backpacks will be a huge pain to carry up the curving stairs. Be aware of this, and try to book a room on 1st or 2nd floors.
We loved our experience at Hotel K. The owners obviously pay very close attention to detail- the way the breakfast food is presented, the way the tables are set, and everything in its proper place in the rooms. It's old fashioned in a good sort of way. The rooms are nice and of good size. The bed was comfortable. Most of our interaction was with Frau H. as she speaks English (very well). She was very nice and gracious. As others have said, you need to be able bodied since there is no elevator.
This was our 2nd stay. We spent 6 nights in room 12, which has a small balcony. It was quiet (especially with the shutters rolled down), and comfortable. The bed was comfortable, it has a desk, tv, & comfortable chair. Wifi worked great. Has a little closet area and typical German bathroom. Plenty of outlets and good lighting. Very nice breakfast area, breakfast is included. They will make eggs if you wish, otherwise normal international breakfast. Front desk has drinks you can purchase, and maps of the public transportation system for Mannheim. VERY helpful if you are not a resident. It is a small family run hotel, they have one person who speaks English well, the others not so well. Even with my poor German, we managed very well. They are very nice people. The location is excellent. It is a 5 minute walk, straight ahead, from the train station. Another 5 minutes will take you to the Wasserturm and the central shopping district. There are food choices and shopping choices everywhere. It does not have an elevator and the spiral staircase is moderately steep, but I am in my mid 50s and didn't have difficulty. The only thing it did not have that we would have liked is a little fridge, but that is not abnormal in Germany. Overall an excellent stay and very reasonably priced.…
