Nice small hotel right in the shopping area. Check- in was smooth. The lift is very small - only 1-2 persons at a time. My daughter got stuck in the lift. The free coffee/ tea is a bonus and as much bottled water in the foyer as you want. Breakfast is the usual European spread but adequate to fill up. Bathrooms were quite nice and spacious. The Metro is a stones throw away. As are most of the sights.

This boutique hotel has an incredible location in Presqu'ile which forms part of the 2nd arrondissement. It is effectively a penninsula between the 2 rivers of Lyon. The area is well-known for shopping and restaurants (there are some lovely Bouchon close by), and is walking distance to most of the sights of Lyon. The hotel is clean and comfortable, with a few quirky touches. Given the location, it can be noisy (when the windows are open).

We (3 adults) stayed at the Silky hotel (in a family room) for 4 nights during the 2018 festival of lights. First and foremost, the hotel is centrally located in the Presqu'ile and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The silk-themed lobby is adorable and the room was spacious and decorated in a modern fashion, clean and comfortable. The bathroom was huge! One downside to our room - the windows faced a courtyard so we had no natural light at all and acctually couldn't open thr windows because it smelled like fried sea food. Another was that the family room consists primarily of two double beds facing each other. It may not be a problem for most but be aware that this does not allow for the privacy and separation some families would need. Breakfast had everything you need and was fresh and sufficient. The famous (and very good) brasserie 'Le grand cafe des negociants' for lunch or dinner is literally next door. All in all, we'll come back!

The situation of the hotel is super, in walking distance to most interesting spots of Lyon. But the hotel is definitively not a 4 star hotel, more a 3 star. The hotel has a bad price-performance ratio. The room we had, was small, had little room to accomodate the luggage for our 5-day stay. The room und the bathroom were clean. The mirror in the bathroom was sort of a joke: 3 small mirrors fixed in forged iron frames hanged so high that my wife, 160cm high, could neither see her face nor her hair; instead the lateral 2 mirrors could be turned to let you look at your face from 3 sides - if you are large enough! The breakfast room in the basement was very small, but offered the choices you expect in a hotel.

Dear guest, Thank you for your comment, we take seriously into consideration your point of view. Indeed, there is an improvement to be made regarding the mirrors. Despite this point we think that we enjoy the location. Best regards,

We came to Lyon on a mother-daughter weekend and found Hotel Silky to be a perfect location for wandering around and exploring. There is a weekend market extremely close by for a stop off before picnicking and a stone's throw from a thoroughfare of bars and restaurants, and the art market at the weekend. The building itself is fully refurbished; a great juxtaposition of modern interiors and old world wooden beams. Each room is fitted with an air conditioner, which was very welcome in the heat spell. We had a problem with a leak in our bathroom that was not fixable; even though the hotel was at capacity, the team was able to relocate us to a bigger, but more importantly, intact room. Although the problem was inconvenient, the team bent over backwards to remedy the situation and went above and beyond what we would expect to make up for the situation. We really appreciated how the all the team we interacted with dealt with the problem and communicated with us - we really felt that apart from management direction that each person was genuinely concerned and doing their best to sort it out. On the rooms: Water pressure was good overall. The beds were comfortable, medium firm mattresses and good pillows. Our first room was a Classic - which was a good size for two people, enough cupboard space for a long weekend and plenty of natural light. The bathroom could do with more ventilation so you need to leave the door open after showering. The shower was quite low (with a bath) which was fine for us as we are both quite short, but I imagine that my husband would have not been a fan of. We were moved to an upgraded room (possibly superior), that was significantly larger, including a sofa. The bathroom had a standalone shower unit and appeared to be better ventilated. I would definitely opt for the higher category of room when we come back. Breakfast is served in the charming basement with a decent continental selection, however quite small and was packed when we went down. There is complimentary water and coffee in the lobby, which is designed as a hipster lounge, and bottled water for your day trips. My only preference would be if the bottled water could be replaced with a filtered water tank that one could refill bottles, in an effort to reduce some plastic waste. With a combination of the location, property and the staff, I would book here again.
