Be enchanted by the Carlton Lyon hotel, located on the peninsula. Despite being fully renovated in 2013, it has retained its authenticity and personality, blending contemporary comfort with sophistication. Relax in one of the 80 tastefully decorated rooms or in the cozy atmosphere of the bar. The hotel is just a 5-minute walk from the Bellecour metro stop and is the ideal base for exploring Lyon, with its opera house, museums, the St. Jean cathedral and more. Located between the Rhone and Saone rivers, the Carlton Lyon hotel was built in 1894 as a "petit palace" in Lyon. Punctuated by its forged iron balconies, dome and rotundas, its splendid Haussmann facade echoes the refinement of its historical decor. The hotel's "Signature" rooms also highlight artists who have stayed there. Travelers will appreciate immersing themselves in the splendid adornments of the many talents that have visited the hotel.

From the moment we were dropped off till the moment we ubered away it was by far one of the most satisfying of stays…the front desk starting with Sandi and another great young man who helped with reservations were just awesome… welcoming professional and always smiling… the others we came across there were equally kind and always helpful…we had a suite which was spectacular with a large balcony overlooking the square, highly recommend, and extremely accessible to the morning breakfast room which is another +++…. That staff was very energetic and always trying to please…. The menu is quite extensive and good quality snd quantity…. There is a lovely boudoir feeling bar that has entertainment on Friday and Saturday evening…the proximity of the hotel to everything we wanted to do was all walkable except for one Michelin restaurant we luckily procured a spot with…just so much to see do and EAT!!! And make sure you do that… highly recommend this fine comfortable and welcoming hotel

This is a fantastic hotel. We stayed for 2 nights (13th and 14th August 2023) prior to boarding a river cruise. The hotel reception area is so welcoming and the staff there, in the breakfasting room and in the bar area were amazing and so helpful. Nothing was a problem and all staff went out of their way to make our stay so memorable, Hope to return and stay in this hotel in the future. Would highly recommend. Thank you to all.

One of the best hotels! Everything in this hotel is a perfection. The bed, the pillows, the quilt, are one of the most comfortable ones we’ve had. The room has a blackout drapes and very quiet and super comfy. We had the best sleep ever for a long trip we do. The hotel itself is very clean, great breakfast, very luxurious. Location is also perfect. The Spa is perfection. We booked 2 rooms (traveling with a 16yr old teen), the Cozy room has a bath tub/shower while the Cocoon Room only has a shower which is good enough for us. The only downside is that they don’t provide bottle water in your room and our TV doesn’t work, but we don’t watch tv anyway. So no issue for us. This is a true 4 star hotel and we definitely will go back if we visit Lyon again.

Nicely situated, this hotel is elegantly tricked out in red and smells wonderful. Pleasant and helpful staff who will book restaurants, room, a classic double, was very quiet. It was also small. not a problem mostly, but the shower has a door which required you to be slim to get into the shower as you had to slip past the door to get into the main shower. I suspect a heavily pregnant woman would have no chance. Worth enquiring about if you are either pregnant or on the portly side.

This hotel has everything. When we stayed, an extremely attentive staff, beautiful, immaculate room, stunning architectural details (including the art deco elevator) and a perfect location just a block away from Rue de la Republique and very close walking distance to multiple fabulous bouchons. Lovely little bar as well. Also, this may be the quietest hotel I have ever stayed at. Can't relate to the previous comments about disorganized staff as we found them to be super solicitous. Highly recommended.

We only stayed one night but wish we could have stayed longer. Location is perfect for the shops and best restaurants. It’s a short walk to the old town and the cable cart that takes you to the Notre Dame. The staff are extremely friendly. The hotel has an old regal feel. It very clean and has the sweetest lift. Parking is offered for valet at 35 euro which is handy in a busy city!

Reaching the hotel by car was challenging due to the new one-way system in the centre of Lyon, but once we reached the hotel, all the stress dissipated. A young gentleman parked the car for us (and he surprisingly brought it in the morning in front of the hotel before I thought of asking him to do it) and we were treated very kindly and professionally throughout the very short (unfortunately 😉) sejour. Stunning interior architecture and fittings, excellent room and breakfast – a great hotel.

Overall a good hotel. Stayed in a Junior Suite - room and toilet area are generally clean. Good bathroom amenities from Codage Paris.- looks like these have been upgraded from previous amenities based on TripAdvisor older reviews! Location and neighbourhood area is also great. Very well connected with subway and bus. Great for morning/evening runs along the Rhone which I did a few times. There was an initial shower cubicle choke on the first night which was quickly rectified, and on the second night an odd issue with the bathtub faucet water containing what seemed to be (from Google) a bit too much iron sediment in the water which settled to the bottom after tub was filled and gave the water that little bit of brown iron-ish colour. Feedback was given immediately to hotel management who were just as puzzled as I was, but response was prompt and whatever happened, the problem went away for the later part of the stay. Not sure whether this was a problem with hotel piping or even with the Lyon water supply for that particular day. Very good service recovery by sincere management team even with such unexpected occurrences. Problems can always occur - and how a hotel approaches them is a good sign of the management direction. 5 stars for this one overall!

I will have to agree with some of the earlier reviews....the hotel is very nice. Rooms are spacious with balconies. Beds were comfortable and the bathroom was quite large. Location is fantastic just off the main shopping areas and pedestrian malls and restaurants are bountiful all within easy walking distance. My only complaint (as has been mentioned before) is the disorganized and almost frenetic fashion of the front desk staff. They seemed to not know how to check-in or even check people out in a timely or easy manner. Better training needed for sure. All in all a pleasant stay and I would recommend.

This is a lovely hotel, centrally located & quiet. A wonderful restoration has been done. Room was modern, light & quiet with very comfortable bed, good size modern bathroom with very good amenities. We overlooked the square & basilica on the hill. Staff were friendly & helpful, quickly sorting any problems.
