Be enchanted by the Carlton Lyon hotel, located on the peninsula. Despite being fully renovated in 2013, it has retained its authenticity and personality, blending contemporary comfort with sophistication. Relax in one of the 80 tastefully decorated rooms or in the cozy atmosphere of the bar. The hotel is just a 5-minute walk from the Bellecour metro stop and is the ideal base for exploring Lyon, with its opera house, museums, the St. Jean cathedral and more. Located between the Rhone and Saone rivers, the Carlton Lyon hotel was built in 1894 as a "petit palace" in Lyon. Punctuated by its forged iron balconies, dome and rotundas, its splendid Haussmann facade echoes the refinement of its historical decor. The hotel's "Signature" rooms also highlight artists who have stayed there. Travelers will appreciate immersing themselves in the splendid adornments of the many talents that have visited the hotel.

Stayed 3 nights and the hotel's location cannot be beat. We arrived at 12.30 and could check in - great! Our room was on the 3rd floor facing the square. Glad that we had double doors to the small balcony to keep out the noise. The room is small - we couldnt figure out where to put our suitcase. The bathroom is equally tiny but oddly with a rather larger shower. The bed was comfy but it was very warm at night - we had the air conditioning set at 5C but it was still extremely warm in the room. Very much appreciated the bottles of evian every day and housekeeping was good..also appreciated the valet parking whch was a great price at 29 euro per night (traffic and parking in lyon is a nightmare/expensive). Staff was helpful and courteous. For the location and overall offering, i can definitely recommend staying here.

I loved the Carlton Lyon MGallery the moment I walked in. They have a beautiful, light, calming signature scent. Check-in staff very friendly and efficient. My cozy room had a nice view of the quiet courtyard. Bedding and bed were very comfortable! Shower was great. Wished I had more time for a soak in the tub. Walk out the door and you have lots of shops and restaurants to the left and to the right is the Rhone River. A walk to Vieux Lyon in 20 min. for more shops and restaurants. I look forward to staying here again.

The Carlton MGallery is about a half-hour walk from either Gare Lyon Part Due or Gare Lyon Perrache. It's located on a pretty, quiet square with trees & a large fountain adjacent to a traffic-free zone, 1 block in from the Rhone River, & a few blocks north of Place Bellecour. It must have been recently renovated as the decor is clean and crisp. Laurent at the front desk stood out among the staff; he was always pleasant & eager to assist with a smile -- a nice person who really seems to enjoy helping guests. The hotel's one elevator is antique -- cute but small & slow; most times, we walked to/from our room on the 4th floor rather than wait for it; this could be an issue for guests with mobility challenges. There are many restaurants nearby, & Vieux-Lyon (the old town) is about 20 minutes away across a pedestrian bridge. Our rate included a buffet breakfast which was plentiful & catered to all tastes (breakfast pastries, breads, cereals, bacon & eggs, cheeses, fruits, juices, coffees, yogurt, etc.). I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. (On a previous visit to Lyon, we stayed at the Mercure Part Due adjacent to the train station; Mercure was convenient for train day trips & inexpensive but located in an area with no charm. No comparison to the superior Carlton.)

Room for 3 was ok for size but rather stuffy. The bed sheets and pillows were terrible ~ the fitted sheet felt like plastic. I expect a better quality of comfort from a Sofitel. Towels and bathroom amenities were very good. Staff is accommodating and helpful.

Three of us stayed here for two nights. Our room was beautiful and spotless. The hotel could not be in a better location to explore Lyon. And, the staff is very helpful and guided us to two fantastic restaurants for dinners. Our whole stay was really fun and having such a great hotel to return to each night was an important part of our visit to Lyon.
