Delightful Hotel - A Must Stay in Lyon!
Beautifully decorated in traditional French style - loved loved loved the vibe, the colours and the attention to detail. The staff were fabulous and could not do enough for us with various bookings over the Christmas period (in particular Paul Bocuse in the Halles de Lyon)- which was not easy given nothing is open Christmas Day in Lyon not even hotel restaurants! To this I will say it was very disappointing to find the restaurant closed for 2 weeks over Christmas. It would have been good to know in advance given the difficulties finding things open. The hotel is very easy walk to the Old Town and even with nothing open Christmas Day there are great walks within a short distance. Due to the train strikes in France one of our trips into Italy was cancelled and the staff were excellent in assisting with a taxi from Lyon to Turin to catch our next train in time. We would stay again and recommend to friends!
Dear guest, Thank you for sharing your experience. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay. We hope that you will enjoy the restaurant of the hotel for your next stay. We look forward to welcoming you soon in Lyon. Sincerely Barbara Carbonnel Sales Manager

Perfect location and great boutique hotel
Brilliant location- easy access to old town, shopping, everywhere in Lyon. Staff wonderful. Rooms very comfortable as well as having old world charm. Luxurious and very french. Loved the windows were doubled- so no sound got into the room at all- which was surprising given the location.
Dear guest, Thank you for your nice comments about your stay. We are pleased that you have enjoyed it. We will share your review with our teams, they will be really happy. Your satisfaction is our best reward. Sincerely. Barbara Carbonnel Sales Manager.

    5 Star Service...4 Star Hotel
We enjoyed our stay at this hotel mainly because of the excellent service. All staff from reception to housekeeping to all serving at breakfast were friendly and helpful..All requests for directions, dinner reservations or taxis were handled seamlessly. We ordered one meal from room service that took some time but the food was well presented and delicious. The Junior Suite we stayed in has seen better days though. Not only was the sofa out of shape..but it also looked like bodily fluid stains were present. The staff did act promptly to bring a portable heater as the bedroom heating system was not functioning and kindly offered to change our room the next day if we were not satisfied. The location was ideal for exploring Lyon.As first mentioned, the service was outstanding so a return stay might be a possibility in the future..and the towels were a very nice quality :)
Dear guest, Thank you for sharing your experience. We are glad you enjoyed your stay with us and all of our services. That is very encouraging. We would be delighted to welcome you again. Sincerely. Barbara Carbonnel Sales Manager

This is the hotel/cooking school hospitality teaching school developed by the famous chef Paul Bocuse. They have trainees learning the business. Most spoke English fairly well and made our stay very comfortable and enjoyable. Attentive staff, delicious breakfast - can even have eggs made to order and the hours breakfast available was very generous 6:30-11. We stayed in the junior suite/round room and it was fabulous. Luxurious seating and bedding and plenty of storage and work space. Bathroom had separate tub and shower and 2 sinks and amazing natural lighting. AC worked very well. Location well situated for going across both rivers (you will want to visit both sides) plus so much to do right on the 'peninsula' Close to many great restaurants - very walkable. I found it to be fairly quiet despite being in a key area.

We booked a superior courtyard view room but it turned out to be old and small with a brick wall for a view. Disappointing! But on the plus side it has good air con and a spacious modern bathroom and the staff were wonderful, they really couldn’t do enough for us and their recommendations for restaurants were excellent.

A five star hotel should absolutely be on top of it’s game! This why they created 5 stars a few years back so that it sets them apart from regular 4 stars. Those establishments should be refurbished every 20 years at least..this one definitely has not. This hotel is disappointing to say the least. Conviniently located place Bellecour, in the center of Lyon. Staff is made partly of seasoned personnel and a young trainee staff and that’s acceptable as everyone needs to learn sometime. Breakfast room is small and can quickly be crowded but the buffer is good and eggs made to order is on point. Sore point is the room. Damaged and beat up furniture, old shower and grout is warn out and yellow. AC doesn’t work great and it from the 90’s…maybe that was just our room ? Doubt it though. c’mon Accor, invest in this hôtel and do a makeover!

Overall, we had an awful experience at this hotel. When we reached, only 1 room was ready, and the second was not (we arrived around 4 pm). Upon receiving the double room, we found it full of fruit flies and mosquitoes, which was totally unacceptable. A few hours later we were given a much better room (unfortunately our first impression of the hotel was damaged). The rooms in general are dusty and very worn, which does not reflect a 5 star quality. The A/C in one of the rooms was not working either. Staff were unfriendly too. I will not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Dear 770alias, ££We totally understand your disappointment. We renew our most sincere apologies. We had to deal with a major problem in terms of air conditioning which led to the appearance of insects. Rest assured that we have done our best to remedy these problems as soon as possible. We completely understand that you should not have had this experience in a 5* hotel. We hope that we have not completely lost your trust. We would be happy to welcome you again for an unforgettable but positive experience this time. Barbara Carbonnel Sales manager

First off- the rooms are small, but ok. A/C is non existent. It simply does not work. It was also very loud from street noise . So, We accidentally left our passports behind in the safe and we were assured that they could ship them to our hotel in Avignon overnight. Our passports got sent to UPS (after paying a premium directly to the link that the general manager of the hotel provided us with and an email exchange with the same GM saying that “the postman picked the package up this afternoon and you should have it shortly “. Only to discover a UPS email saying our package would not arrive until 3 days later (the day of our flight). Had the manager told me that this was the potential outcome I would have taken the TGV to retrieve the passports from Le Royal hotel myself. I’m appalled by the lack of follow through and customer service that transpired during our stay. This place , while centrally located is embedded with amateur hospitality.

Dear TimcV8456XH, I am sincerely sorry to hear of your disappointment and the reproaches levelled at our concierge service who dealt with your request concerning the passports left in your room. I fully understand your disappointment and annoyance at the late receipt of your passports, which are necessary for the continuation of your trip. The concierge service has put you in direct contact with the carrier, but has never itself dealt directly with the carrier, for reasons of confidentiality of payment, processing of credit card data and choice of transport costs. You hold us responsible for delivery delays, but unfortunately we had no means of action once the passports had been picked up by the carrier. The team tried everything with the carrier in the 3 days following dispatch. Despite our various reminders in the days following shipment, the carrier would do nothing to help us and you get them back on time. We do hope sincerily that you finally got your passport back, and be assure tha we stay at your disposal if you wish so. I sincerely hope that you were able to recover your passports. I can assure you that we remain at your disposal should you have any requests or need any assistance in this matter. Yours sincerely Patrick Gainnier General Manager

What a cute hotel! The service was impeccable and the staff treated us like we were VIP. Would not hesitate to go back. As some say, it is in need of an update, which I agree, but that does add to the charm. Our room was on the 5th floor over looking the Ferris wheel. What a great view! The location is so central you can walk everywhere. I would like to give a shout-out to Habib, the concierge. Thank you to you and your team for the very personal service.

What a wonderful hotel. You can’t beat the fantastic location- walk everywhere! The concierge was a great and professional help, as was everyone at the hotel. We were 3 generations meeting up for the weekend, and the hotel was wonderful to the children also. Rooms are beautiful, blue and white toile, comfortable bed, luxe bedding, vintage black and white photographs. Rooms facing the historic square have lovely views. I would definitely stay here again.

This hotel is located centrally, within walking distance to all tourist attractions. The rooms are in dire need of a renovation. The staff was hit or miss on friendliness and usefulness, more often standing around talking to one another than engaging with guests. As it claims to be 5 star, stay at the nearby Intercontinental if you really want 5 star polish. This just checks the boxes on amenities, but otherwise was not a noteworthy stay.

From beginning to end, the experience was phenomenal. Service was excellent, friendly, expedient, extremely respectful. The room was one of the nicest rooms that I've stayed in. I stayed in the superior room. I appreciated the fresh Evian and bubbly water that was free in the room. The bed/sheets were soft and comfy. The room was very well soundproofed. I felt very safe. Only feedback, is that one time, the 2 concierge's (appeared to be trainees) weren't friendly or aloof, but that's just 2 out of 30 amazing employees that I probably encountered. I called the front desk and reception multiple times and they always picked up promptly. Loved the robes and the slippers. Great quality toiletries. Loved the little candies at the front desk, the nice umbrellas, the adorable dog decorations. I miss it! The room was warm and cozy and location was perfect. I never needed to take the metro. When I arrived very late at night the front desk reception had a staff member obtain me some water. Love it!
