As a longtime Bonvoy member with almost 1,300 Marriott nights, it’s always very special to be treated in such a royal VIP fashion as we were here… on our first stop in a 3-months-long European adventure. We owe it all to the care of Guest Relations Supervisor Andrea, who was kind enough to keep in touch with us months before our trip even began to make sure everything was perfect. And it absolutely was! We were fortunate enough to have the Empire Suite, which was massive with a balcony, separate bedroom, living room and even an extra bathroom with a shower. The main bathroom had another shower, double-sinks and what has to be the world’s biggest bath tub at probably 5 feet by 3 feet and quite deep. It was such a luxury after a day of sightseeing in Lyon, truly a crown jewel of France for tourists. The fitness room was superb, with free weights, stretching mats, an array of machines and plenty of towels. Breakfast began at 6:30 each morning, a serve-yourself buffet that included everything imaginable. And everything is underlined. What a feast to begin your day. Housekeepers are the friendliest you will ever encounter, happy to fulfill your every need with extra towels and bathroom items. As we sadly have to depart Lyon after 4 beautiful nights here, we again must thank from the bottom of our hearts the lovely Andrea. The rest of Europe has a tough act to follow after this A++++ hotel experience!

Generally speaking, the hotel was fine. Restaurant staff was very helpful. The bar staff was OK. The front desk staff, although multilingual, did not relay some of the constraints the hotel had, namely, the checkout process. We stayed there for five nights. On the 5th night, around 21h00, we returned from dinner to find that our door keys would not work. When I went to the desk to get it fixed, it seemed that the staff or management had locked us out of our room. This was done to force us to come to the front desk and attempt to get us to pay our 500€ bar bill and restaurant bill. They did not call us, send us a note or text, or slip something under the door recommending that we pay our bill the night before. Their reasoning was that the checkout process is long, so it was for our convenience. So, because the process was long, they took it upon themselves to just lock us out of our room. When my wife went down to pay the bill, the process took less than five minutes, including the discussion about why we were locked out. This was embarrassing, humuliating, unnecessary, and the reason why we could not, in good conscience, give them anything over three stars.

We chose this hotel as we like the Marriott range of hotels and this one was dog friendly and conveniently located for an overnight stay for a return journey back to the U.K. The hotel is tastefully decorated and very modern. The reception area is large and the reception staff multi lingual. Check in was fast and efficient and our room was excellent. Clean , modern with a great view over the river. Coffee and tea making facilities were provided and a mini bar with soft drinks. We ordered room service for our dinner and it was excellent. The porter who brought it was lovely and we had a short chat about the area and where we came from. The room has a bath and a shower and complimentary toiletries . You will be unlikely to find a better room anywhere. The room was very quiet and the bed extra large . Great night sleep and breakfast. Highly recommend.

Lyon was the first city I visited in France so it has always been one of my favorite places in this country. Apart from being the gastronomic center of France, there are a lot of things to see and do there. One of my favorite spots there is the Parc de la Tête d'Or which is one of the biggest urban parks in France. It is a piece of green and tranquility in the heart of Lyon. And this is one of the reasons why I booked the Marriot hotel as it is just right across the Park. I booked this hotel through the phone app which was user friendly and easy to use. I recommend you join the Marriot Bonvoy program so you can get preferential rates for your stay. The hotel has a private parking which costs around 17€ per night (during my stay). It can be a bit confusing though as the hotel is connected to a big complex where there are restaurants, a cinema and a casino and the buildings all look alike. To access the underground private parking of the hotel, you would need to buzz in if you don't have a room key card yet. From the parking, you can take the elevator to the reception area. The elevator can get crowded though as the hotel is big and it also shares with the casino, although in order to access the hotel levels you would need to activate the elevator with your room key card. So upon arriving at the reception, there was only one person in front of us who was checking in. I have already done the online check in on the Bonvoy app, but I still needed to get the keys. We still waited for more than 15 minutes before we were able to get our keys. The reception was a bit cold and not a lot of information were provided, like where the breakfast will be served. But since we were tired from the long drive, we just proceeded to our rooms. The hallways going to the rooms was well lit and had a great view of the surrounding area. The room we had did not have a view and was not facing the park but it was huge. The bed was huge, a bit hard but was still comfortable. Visible wear and tear all throughout the room and the bathroom fixtures. The bathroom and toilet were not very clean. Looked like they rushed cleaning it which is quite disappointing as I have stayed in other Marriots in other countries before and saw cleaner rooms eventhough this is a chain hotel. The airconditioning vents also had black molds which I hope they have done something about as we didn't bother and didn't really have the time to point it out to them as we were only there for a night. The room had complete amenities, a minibar, iron & ironing board but the bath amenities were disappointing. They had these huge bottles of soap which all smelled the same, like soap used for dishwashing and the bottles were unconveniently bolted to the wall. The bath towels were hard and scratchy, which is far from the quality of bath towels I had in Marriot Manila. We had a good sleep though, thanks to the heavy dinner we had in the city center. The breakfast room was located at the lower level, and looked like it was a restaurant of the complex. It was located in the same level as the main entry to the casino. The buffet breakfast was good, with a lot of options. Although the breakfast room got crowded and loud easily. Glasses and cups ran out fast and were not quickly replenished at the same pace they were being used unfortunately. Checkout was much quicker and had no problems with the bill although we had to go back to ask for an employee to activate the elevator to access the private parking. Overall, the stay was okay, not very memorable with regular staff encounters that did not really improve our stay. If it was not for the location, I would not have stayed there. Will probably stay there again if room rates were 100€ or less, otherwise, it is not really worth it.

Two nights in a row, the first night the table next to us was dirty and we had to ask the hostess to clean it, she did and then she avoided eye contact with us for the rest of the night. The second night the bar had only one staff member serving all the patrons. The floor and chairs were dirty, as were the plates on the table. We walked up to the front desk and told the receptionist about our unpleasant experience. Then no one follows up and expresses appreciation.

Lyon Marriott was little disappointing from my usual expectation as lifer over 40 years as gold to Platinum levels Beautiful hotel and room but few lumps like shower door that did not close properly so flooded floor took all towels and floor mats to insure no damage One of the USB outlets worked End table lamps were both unplugged obviously to allow previous occupants to break out euro plug adaptors to charge phones etc. BUT the staff at every level were EXCEPTIONAL with Margaux as Concierge performing beyond what any guest would expect and resolved ongoing travel angst with fabulous suggestions and reservations Would definitely stay there again because Staff really are what makes any stay enjoyable

Stayed at this wonderful property for two nights in late September 2023. Amazing location directly across from a huge park (Parc de la Tete d'Or) that you must take advantage of during your stay for walking/jogging in the morning. Another gem in the hotel is having lunch outside on the patio at Lucca which is a great spot if you have the time. Entire staff was outstanding, especially Margaux, in Concierge. Margaux seemed to be everywhere, making recommendations for superb restaurants that were memorable and very reasonably priced for multi-course dinners. Best meals were at Semanteme (no menu) and I'InaTTendu. Margaux even assisted us with transportation needs as we were checking out to head to our next destination, Nice. Before we left Lyon, Margaux really went out of her way and offered to contact a colleague for recommendations in Nice and then followed up with us as were on the train to provide a list of sights and restaurants in Nice. I have never experienced such a high level of service from any hotel. We look forward to returning.

Our room and bath were large, clean and comfortable. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We had a very pleasant conversation with Margaux, the concierge who also gave us some tips for our stay in Nice. The hotel is across from a beautiful park, where we had a very lovely walk. This hotel is not in the old city but there is a bus stop on the street in front of the hotel which takes you there on the C5 bus. I suggest getting a city pass if you will be there for more than a day. The only negative for me was that the drapes and screens were not attached in spots and could use some refurbishing. I would still recommend a stay here.
