Very atypical, quiet and interesting historical hotel in the midst of Old Lyon. Service and personnel are top quality, and so was the only meal I had there (buffet breakfast, very very good by French standards). Room amenities, not to mention a comfortable bed and a cool TV entertainment system (Apple TV kind of a thing with some recent free... More

This is a hotel in the heart of the Old Town and as I understand it, was a number of different buildings amalgamated to make one larger one. This gives the hotel an astonishing internal architecture, with a huge internal courtyard which houses the restaurant/breakfast room, and any number of corridors and passages with windowless arches and the Lyonnaise trademark... This hotel situated in the heart of the old city of Lyon is very unique and should be visited by all ages. Both concierges have to be the best in the world. Friendly, ever so helpful in making restaurant bookings in some of the most different restaurants which all were fantastic. Swimming pool is inside and beautifully lit with coloured lighting.... First this Hotel is made up of an amazing collection of Renaissance era buildings. How often do you get to stay in buildings this unique and special? To get to our room we had a delightful stone spiral staircase. Luckily there is an elevator so on days with luggage it was easy. We stayed for 5 nights. We had Room... More

Spend last two nights of a 8 day Rhone trip in Lyon. Besides being impossible to find despite GPS (in old Lyon in an area where cars need special access to get to) it was a great stay. Once we got there we were quite happy with the hotel. Its a very old converted building. We were upgraded to a... More

Our first stop on our way home. We have seen all sorts of reviews of this hotel, some none too complimentary. For us (recent retirees) it was a dream. Architecturally exciting. Decoratively beautiful. A little expensive perhaps, but a position unique in the old town. We could not fault the staff (apart from the Spa, whose organisation left something to... More

We stayed for four days in July 2016, and fell completely in love with both the hotel and the City of Lyon. Yes, the building is old, and a bit of a labyrinth, and yes the lighting can be a bit challenging to figure out, and yes, the bathrooms are a little 'unusually' laid out, but on all levels it... We stayed for one night en route to the South. The hotel has much character and charm because of its situation in the Old City and because of the building itself, but as a luxury hotel with prices to match it is let down by bedrooms which are not fit for purpose and which need refurbishment. We stayed in a... More

There's a tale to every detail in this hotel. I fell in love. The entrance is mesmerizing, the rooms, the decorations. The staff are extremely friendly. Perfect location to the Notre dame, restaurants, and the old renaissance area.

If you're after some old world French charm you can't really fault this place. It's a beautiful old building, the rooms are well appointed and cater for kids if notice is given. Check in was a breeze and the porters and concierge can't do enough for you. Very close to the steps to climb to notre dame basilica and in... More
