Value is the issue here for the price you pay. While the hotel’s location in the old town is great, the staff friendly and efficient, the rooms are dark and cramped and some have only baths not showers. We had booked a superior room on the strong recommendation of the hotel…
This is one of the most beautiful hotels I've ever stayed in. This is what I had pictured in my mind of a french hotel. Bed was super comfy in my high ceilinged red room. Food was outstanding at breakfast and service was perfect.

Lovely historic place but added to the charm. Our room was up the round stairs on a side round tower wing - so neat. Great location as in the old city and can walk to most places or take the public transit. Loved the daily surprise treats, a bath and a separate shower + robes. …
I travel 300 days of the year; stay in wonderful hotels, but this is one of the best hotels in the world. Wonderful building; design; food; and people. I love court yard. The old building, with the thick walls is my favourite. Go there.
"We were in a small wing just above reception and it was incredibly quiet and removed from any spa/apiary traffic."
"Suggest you go for a larger room with an external outlook"
"Pay a little more for a superior room as the basic rooms may be a little small"
"Rooms on the back of the hotel overlooking the garden have nice light coming in."
"Don't overly worry about it, all the rooms are good."
