#12 of 73 hotels in Chamonix
Certificate of Excellence
At the foot of mont Blanc, Pierre Carrier, Perrine and Grand Chef Pierre Maillet have taken over this hotel, devoted to exceptional cuisine and local delicacies, founded in 1903 by 'great grandfather Carrier'. The rooms in the main hotel or the chalets in the garden offer both modern and warm comfort. On the one hand, there is the superb menu at the Albert 1er with its elaborate recipes influenced by the Piedmont and Liguria and, on the other, the Maison Carrier restaurant with its specilaities to be enjoyed in the atmosphere of an old farmhouse or on the terrace while gazing out at the majestic beauty of mont Blanc. The indoor/outdoor swimming pool also boasts views of the eternal snows on the roof of Europe. An equally stunning and delicious address for winter or summer stay.

Chamonix is gorgeous, and this hotel is well-situated for a stay there: within walking distance of the town centre and an easy distance from cable-cars etc. Avoid a room facing onto or near the road and train line though! We were disturbed heavy trafffic regularly when we opened the windows, and we had to open them because there was no air-conditioning in the room. The room was small and not all that luxurious for its price (E198 per night), and overall we wouldn't think that this hotel was as good as other 5* in which we have stayed. Certain things are great: very friendly and professional reception, bar and restaurant staff and a superb 2* Michelin restaurant, but others are not so good: the breakfast (an extra E25pp) left us very underwhelmed: pre-cooked hot food sitting out (only eggs were prepared to order), and staff who were not very friendly or attentive (no offer of a top up for hot drinks, for example). Overall, we had a good experience, but do not think the hotel is worth the price.

Dear Madam, Monsieur, Thank you for taking time to write impression further to your last stay in our hotel. I am surprised as all our small rooms are equipped with air-conditioning. Maybe we should explain at arrival. I am happy the global impression of your stay is quite good. Never mind, we take note of your remarks in order to make it better. Kind regards, Perrine Maillet-Carrier

The high ratings for this restaurant is for reason. The people make a business work. Nice room with with a great view with everything you need. The front desk helped us every day with trip suggestions during our 3 day stay. The restaurant is worth their Michelin stars. Not cheap but you get what you are paying for. Good breakfast too.

We came last year for a gorgeous meal with delicious food and relaxed setting, and decided to stay here this time around for a quick getaway, just my husband and I (no kids). The service was attentive, the views are stunning and the rooms are simply perfect. Nathalie was especially kind, I expressed that I loved the hotel’s hibiscus tea at the lobby, and when we checked out, Nathalie gifted me an entire bag of hibiscus flower tea leaves to take home! I shall be sipping on my little bit of Chamonix every time I have this tea! Thank you for a wonderful stay.

Small but well appointed menu of mountain comfort food. Lamb and other meats cooked over open coals plus excellent slow cooked meats. Specializes in pork! Extensive wine list.....well priced! Great selection of deserts as well. Highly recommended!

I highly recommend staying at this hotel. Service was fantastic. Room comfy & roomy. There is a train that runs at the back of the hotel, but it didn't bother us as it was pretty quite & stopped running at night. Easy 2 min walk to restaurants/shops.
