Detailed Reviews
Great site, located away from the lake but easy walking distance to go for a swim. Booked 2 nights and extended to 3; wish we’d stayed the full week instead of moving on as we loved it there. Pitches flat enough to level a campervan; not too far to the hook up point unlike some sites and trees for shade. Really friendly owners who speak good English if your French is as weak as mine is. Can order bread and pain-au-chocolat each morning if you want to.
Totally recommend a swim in Lac d’Annecy in the summer if you walk from this site to the Doussard plage.
Free, hot showers and facilities were well looked after. We will definitely return if we come back to this area as it was much more restful than the busy, packed sites by the lake. Plenty of walks and rides from the door so no need to drive off if you don’t want to. Green way (Voie Verte) easily accessible for traffic free riding just below the camp site.

We first visited this campsite nearly 30 years ago and I'm pleased to say it has not changed much. The trees are taller an offer more shade in the hotter weather which is a bonus but apart from that it is the same. Bridgitte is welcoming and friendly and speaks good English should you not be up conversing in French. The showers are clean and hot water plentiful. The best feature of this campsite is the view, absolutely wonderful at all times of the day. Parascenders can be seen most days throwing themselves off the opposite mountain and for a fee you can join then on a tandem jump. Le Lac du Annecy is a shrt cyle/walk and is very clean with excellent facilities, sailing canoeing paddle boarding etc. There is also a cycle route around the lake which is also stunning. Can't recommend this place enough. Truly magical.

My husband and I stayed here for a week - much longer than we had planned to stay. We enjoyed the area and campsite so much, we didn't want to leave. Brigitte was very helpful and nothing was too much to ask. The facilities aren't modern, but everything was very clean. The view from a couple of the pitches was amazing, right over the lake. We will be back!

Very welcome. Small campsite (without mobile homes). The pitches are not very large and sloping, some with a nice view of the lake. Sanitary a little old but clean. Land located by a very temporary road. No emptying area for motorhomes. Complicated access for large cc. A little expensive for the quality of services.

We recently booked a stay at Le Taillefer via the Caravan Club.
The site itself is slightly off the main road around the Lac D'Annecy and is very peaceful. There are approx 30 pitches all of which are of a generous size and supplied with electricity (6amp). The views across the lake and valley from the higher numbered pitches (we had pitch no. 24) are stunning. The pitches are all grass and even though on the side of a mountain they are surprisingly level and access to most pitches is easy.
The on site washing, veg preparation and washing up facilities are spotlessly clean. The only minor criticism we might have was that the shower cubicles were a little on the small side but the water was hot. Facilities for waste water disposal and chemical toilet emptying we're again easily accessible.
There is a small but well stocked shop on site carrying the basics and bread, croissants etc are delivered daily. There are supermarkets in Doussard and St Jorioz about 5-10 mins drive in either direction with larger supermarkets with petrol stations (Carrefour, Intermarch or Lidl) about 5 miles away in Faverges. I believe in main season the owners can supply simple takeaway food and breakfast if requested. They also speak fairly good English and are extremely helpful regarding advice as to what there is to do in the area. This is an excellent location for exploring the surrounding countryside and mountains and an excellent point to watch the para gliders launch themselves from the Col de Forclaz opposite. It's also reasonable driving distance to Chamonix/Mont Blanc which is an excellent day out. Also worth a visit is La Sambuy.
Annecy is about 12 miles away and is a beautiful town with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. You can catch the boat from Bout du Lac (5 mins drive from site). This stops at a number of points around the lake and you can get off at one other point. There is also a cycle path about 5mins ride away which runs into Annecy and also about another 15miles in the other direction. Unfortunately there didn't seem to be an off road cycle track all the way around the lake.

With the rain never ending in Britain we looked for a last minute break.
The criteria were, warm and dry but not too hot as we travel with dogs, preferably a quietish site and plenty around to do.
Although this area and site were new to us the site and area did not let us down. The host/owner of the site works tirelessly for guests and the facilities though not uber modern were always clean and in good order.
The pitches are larger than many with reliable electric hook up. This site may not have the pool or childrens facilities some look for but for 2 thirty somethings with two dogs and a VW camper this was a heavenly break.

The camp site was peaceful in an area which is very busy. We were seeking a good quality site which did not have noisy evening entertainment - this met our criteria. The Lake is easily accessible as is the Annecy cycle path. The facilities were spotless - soap, toilet paper and sink plugs all provided (not always the case in France). We have nothing but praise for the hard work and friendliness of the owner.
This is definitely a camp site that we would be very happy to return to.

This site deserves its excellent reviews. The owner is lovely, the pitches are a good size with both sun and shade. The facilities are fine. You can order bread daily, but there is a fantastic boulangerie and also a Spar in the nearby village. It’s a bit of a climb from the beach and cycle track, but the road cycling and the tarmacced route all round the lake are great. There is a Navette free shuttle service, but it closed at the end of August, which made travelling with a motorhome difficult. We love the area and will return.

Response from Brigitte G, Gérant at Camping le Taillefer
Responded Jan 10, 2019
Thank you for staying at Camping le Taillefer and for sending this detailed review, I am sure it is very helpful for other travelers looking up the area. The free shuttle indeed only runs in the summer and usually ends at the beginning of September, we will share some info on our facebook page once the 2019 schedule is out. Hope to see you again at Camping le Taillefer in the near future!

We stayed at Camping le Taillefer for 10 nights ( 4th - 14th August). We booked via the Caravan & Motorhome Club. On arrival we were greeted by the owner, Bridgette, who allocated us pitch 10. The pitch is extremely sloping, and we would not recommend it. After a six hour journey, we spent a good hour just getting the caravan level ; without a motor mover this would have been impossible. Despite there being several flatter pitches available the following day, Bridgette would not let us move, saying they were already booked. Despite this, we witnessed several people come and go from these pitches?
The views are lovely, but only visible from certain pitches. We had 4 days of solid heavy rain, which resulted in a river going under our awning. On the few days of clear weather, we managed to explore the local area, such as La Sambuy. We attempted to go into Annecy town for lunch on one of the good days. The traffic was nose to tail, so we had to turn back and find a local restaurant. We realise the site cannot help the weather, but unless you enjoy a busy and touristy area, we would not recommend!

Dear Merick, Thank you for your feedback and I'm sorry that your stay in Lake Annecy didn't live up to your expectations. It was indeed a very busy time as you came during Lake Annecy Fireworks that attract thousands of visitors. We always try our best to accommodate special request, but I'm sorry that we were already fully-booked at the time so we couldn't offer you another pitch. Hope you will give Lake Annecy another chance! Best regards, Camping le Taillefer

All of our pitches are between 80-100m2 so it should be no problem to fit a big tent and a car. If you have more questions or would like to place a booking please send us an email. Thank you!
