We were amazed by the incredible gardens and open view of the Alpilles tucked away behind this hotel just moments from the hustle and bustle of St Remy. The hotel itself is nice, rooms are sparsely decorated in a modernish style. I personally am not a massive fan of the decor in the hotel which feels a bit passé but rooms are are comfortable and clean. Floors are tiled - stone or wood would have been more inviting and aesthetically pleasing. Beds have metal feet so feel a bit cheap but have good comfy mattresses and lovely white linen. Bathrooms are fully equipped and decorated in a similar “modernish” style. Good breakfast either in dining room or bedroom/balcony . Room had lovely balcony but wooden shutters in need of a bit of tlc. What is fabulous and makes this worthwhile is the incredible 2 hectare private park, terraces and swimming pool with the most amazing uninterrupted views of the Alpilles right in the heart of St Remy. The perfect place to relax and unwind. The restaurant offers high quality French food and wine on the terrace behind the hotel. We had a very enjoyable meal - amuses- bouches followed by delicious fresh prawns accompanied by somewhat bland roast avocado (needed some citrus or a dressing to give contrast) and the most mouth meltingly tender piece of beef- unforgettable! Pudding unmemorable. Weird cocktail accompanied the tasting menu, wine that accompanied the tasting menu was very good but a bit stingy and there was a lack of choice for digestifs but staff were friendly and accommodating and we enjoyed the meal.…
We visited Saint Remy and stayed in Hotel de l'Image for the first time in July. Oh my what a find, we had the benefit of the beautiful gardens and pool on one side of the hotel to enjoy the lovely sunshine and then stepped in the other direction straight into the village centre. A perfect hotel location with everything, including parking! The village also had plenty of restaurants & bars full of atmosphere and an array of shops. The staff at the hotel were so attentive and welcoming. Our room was immaculate and clean equipped with everything we needed - it is always good to see white sheets and towels that look as good as new. The hotel staff also managed to make us feel safe and secure with the Covid situation whilst not impacting on our holiday - clearly a lot of effort has gone on in the background. I knew from the moment we left that we would be coming back and are already planning dates for 2021. This is a real gem of a hotel!…
The room was really spacious with a large balcony overlooking the extensive gardens and pool. Bathroom is also well designed with plenty of space to put things, a separate shower and toilet. There is a walk-in clothes closet. The location is ideal - right in the centre of town with a big variety of cafes, bars and brasseries within very easy walking distance. Staff park the car in the basement and deliver it when required. It's very relaxing to spend time at / in the pool after a day of sight-seeing in summer.
The good Really nice hotel. Great bedroom. Clean and tidy. Towels changed morning and evening. Staff wonderful and friendly. Great buffet breakfast with huge choice and really helpful staff. Pool area very nice but very cold pool. Great seating area loads of shade. Lovely gardens. You can use the spa at sister hotel. Great central location. Excellent shower. The bad Very noisy when they have big groups eating below our room 220 outside. Smell of food being cooked when you sit on balcony. Dreadful smell of cigarette smoke from below. Should have designated smoking area away from bedrooms. Restaurant Service terrible (not waiting staffs fault) Clearly the chef is a pre Madonna and “he” runs the show. Booked for 7.30. Arrived at 7.15 for a drink. At 7.30 asked for menus and can we go to table. Not yet. 7.50 can we go to table not yet and get menu. 8.05 got up and went to table as did another couple who had the same treatment. At about 8.15 after waiting another two couples (not together) came in. We then got the menus and able to order our wine. It was obvious the chef was trying to feed everyone at around the same time with the limited menu. That’s why waited for the post 8pm diners. The waitress we had whilst really nice spoke literally no English. Food very mediocre. Need to improve as people have lots of good alternative choices. Irritating Spa at sister hotel. Supposed to be available to all guests and with a shuttle to take you. Day before we left we asked to arrange the shuttle to be told we could not use the spa today as they were too busy. Well it does not say that in the brochure, the hotel book or in the advertising. Disappointing. Bar shut for season !!! Pity about the negatives but overall we enjoyed our stay. …
Returning to St.-Remy-de-Provence, we returned to the Hotel de l'Image and left wanting to return again. Read on for details. Located the circular road around the city center, the Hotel de L'image is a few feet from the city center old town and the numerous shops and eateries. By car, it is a short drive to the Glanum and hospital that housed van Gogh. The staff at the desk were friendly and helpful. We were upgraded to a suite; it was massive, upgraded (considering the limitations imposed by the dated building) and comfortable. A coffee maker would have been nice. The breakfast buffet was extensive and the most memorable of the 8 Provence hotel buffets I've experienced. Be sure to try the lavender and regional honey on the fresh baguette. When we return to Provence, we will return to the Hotel de L'Image.…
