I spent three nights here pre-covid and was very very happy with my choice. First class welcome as I'm ALL Platinum. Great welcome cocktails and fantastic upgraded room with excellent harbour view. Huge bathroom with powerful raindrop shower. Luxury Lanvin bathroom amenities as well. Breakfast was extremely good. Easily the best breakfast I ever had anywhere in France. Fresh melt in your mouth croissants as well. Huge buffet spread. Excellent selection of fresh juices and even a crepe machine! I was in heaven. Thank you for the excellent stay and I will definitely be back!

After reading some negative reviews my hopes were not too high for this stay in Marseilles at The Sofitel! However I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the room, just a simple double bedroom with no view but all was in good order nothing old or tatty! The bed was very comfy and the linens were good quality. The Hermes soaps etc will always get a vote from me, nice fluffy quality towels as well. The tea selection was poor, we are English we like tea in the morning! The first morning only coffee and the 2nd morning lemon verbena herbal tea ! A first works problem! Due to Covid you need to book a slot at the pool which I just say is annoying and due to this we did not use - the sun also leaves the pool quite early - so if you are thinking of hanging by the pool all day think again! Saying that you are in Marseilles a FANTASTIC city get out and enjoy it! We arrived by car and did find it strange that a 5 star hotel does not have a bell boy or even valet parking. It would have been nice to have been greeted and directed to the car park by someone instead of having to run in - queue up to be told how and where to park. Staff were all very friendly - especially Lucas who checked us in. Location is great - a short walk to the port or up the hill to The Corniche. A good quality option when staying in Marseilles

I stayed at the Sofitel Vieux-Port in Marseille for one night in July 2020. Having recently arrived after a day of traveling, I decided to have something quick to eat at the restaurant before going to bed (I had more traveling to do the next day.) The restaurant was fully booked, so I was directed to the rooftop bar for a bite to eat at 9:15pm. I spoke to the person who greeted me. He directed me to a seat indoors while I waited for a bar table. He did not say how long the wait would be and I thought I would get seated after two ladies who had walked in just before me. In the following 30 minutes, three to four groups who arrived after me were seated. As I began noticing this, I started to wonder whether I was at the end of some queue I didn’t know about; and the frustration built from there. As the person I’d spoken to walked by again and saw me still waiting, I heard him say something like “ah, monsieur” to himself, at which point I thought he maybe had completely forgotten about me. I guess it was good that I wasn’t being treated like a second-class citizen on purpose and that this was (perhaps) an oversight. But at hotels like Sofitel, part of the service needs to be about getting the little things right, such as making sure guests don’t feel ignored or forgotten or that other guests are getting preferential treatment. (Everybody should be treated equally.) Managing a waiting list is important and shouldn’t be that difficult. Small things can upset people; I left in disgust and went to bed hungry as I was no longer in the mood to eat or drink there. I attribute my incident to poor organization, a lack of focus at the bar and poor attention to detail. This wasn’t the end of the world for anybody, at all, but it ruined the first night of a vacation.

My husband and I stayed at the Sofitel for a long weekend and had the most perfect stay. Staff were extremely accommodating and helpful - we were upgraded to the harbour view, (which was truly beautiful), checked in 4 hours early and had complimentary treats and a welcome drink for my husbands birthday! Concierge were also very helpful in recommending restaurants and top sights to visit. The location was perfect for great views of the port and only a 15 mins walk away from the metro, buses, museum, restaurants, and bars. The rooftop bar was a plus and great place to grab a drink with a view. Highly recommend - we couldn't be happier with our stay.
