Great hotel, perfect location! I stayed here on a quick two-night visit to Marseille by myself and was so glad I chose to stay here. The location made it easy to explore the city on foot, and waking up every morning to a view of the old port was really nice.
The staff is amazing - everyone I encountered was friendly and helpful. In particular, Thomas at the front desk went above and beyond. He accommodated my morning arrival and graciously let me check in early...even with an upgrade. I told him it was my first visit to Marseille and was just there for two quick nights, and being able to get settled in the room early so I could explore the city made all the difference. I'd highly recommend staying here.

Some part of the hotel building and rooms are a bit old-fashioned but the location is quiet while offering beautiful scenic views of Marseille's Old Port and Sea. The conciergerie and reception staff were throughout very professional and very capable of providing the perfection of service à la Française. Both Christian and Valli were very helpful in finding excellent restaurant locations for business travellers such as ourselves. The stay was throughout seamless and stress-free. Bravo !!

Hotel located in an exceptional position, very close to the center of the old port but in a panoramic position. Very clean hotel, new rooms with new and very comfortable bathrooms. Upgrading rooms with a view is recommended because it is really worth the stay in this hotel. Very good breakfast, with quality products and a spectacular location for the view. Very welcoming and "professional" staff, starting with the dining room manager Bruno who speaks multiple languages and is available for every customer request. Brasserie-type restaurant on floor 3, convenient for a quick meal. The only downside is that it was not possible to dine at the Le Dantes Skylounge restaurant without a reservation. For internal hotel customers, availability should be offered, especially if you arrive in the evening tired from a trip. Spa with very nice indoor hydromassage pool.

Friendly and well appointed reception was the best thing about this hotel. 1 night stay was €660 which included a lunch of undercooked chicken & 4 drinks . We had a top price room with chipped and badly stained furniture, uncomfortable bed and a very basic shower set up with wall mounted toiletries that provided nothing more than a pin prick of soap. Declined the breakfast buffet but still charged me - fantastic views from the restaurants and bar just a shame they overlooked a totally filthy swimming pool.

If you choose to book a hotel in this price range, expectations are very high. Unfortunately, the Sofitel is not even up to the standard of a 4-star "normal range" hotel. We arrived last night for a 5 night stay. We were also advised of the late arrival time and were confirmed by the hotel that it was not a problem. When we arrived at the hotel there was no one to welcome us and no one to help with the luggage. We had to take an abandoned trolley and put all our luggage in it to take them into the hall for check-in. We were told that to have a nice view you had to pay extra and so, given the high cost already, we opted for the assigned room. We saw a very ugly dirty yellow roof on our 644. There was also a long wait for breakfast at the modest price of 64 euros (to be paid extra for me and my husband). We got off at 9.30am, that is, an hour before the end of breakfast. There are very limited choices and a good part of them were already finished. No yogurt, no baguettes and even no croissants. After we complained they brought us yogurt to the table and told us that it will take some time to THAW baguettes and croissants. But really??? Does a hotel that prides itself on the highest level and choice of niche products offer you frozen food at the modest price of 64 euros? I recommend you go and see the view from the seventh floor which is truly stunning and have breakfast with fresh products at a tenth of the price in a local bar. Unfortunately we have already paid the cost for 5 nights in advance but if you plan to book here it is absolutely not worth it.

I checked in with my prepaid voucher for a room with view and was advised a room with view to wall at 0.5m from the window. After complain another room was for disabled with special polietilen covered bedding and uncomfortable bathroom. This was the only available room as the receptionist said. I love Sofitel chain in general, however, this was a bed experience. I Do not recommend at all. The only plus was the view from the breakfast room.

Reception at the spa with bathrobes and unfolded towels, my last name is scratched until the end of the visit, although it is quite simple..., a dirty changing room, no shampoo in the showers. The spa was filled to capacity (the number of accesses must be limited) cold water swimming pool, half of the relaxing jets do not work, the sauna door does not close.. a “decoration” of the treatment rooms to be reviewed.. ! (Put on a dim light, turn down the music, take down the Christmas tree it's February, the Valentine's Day balloons kitsch..) the masseuses very inexperienced.. very disappointing.!! opens the door while we are changing without knocking, retorts as to the comment on our opinions on the care left to me then when my back is turned to my companion. A very frustrating moment even though it is a starred hotel, very disappointed with the experience of all the other treatments and spas that we were able to do. I won't go back there unfortunately. A glass of champagne offered but undrinkable, we were the last of course but no one to say goodbye or escort us to the exit.

Although I have been coming to this hotel for its restaurant and terrace bar for years, this was my first stay. Unfortunately, the preferred rooms that overlook the Vieux Port are also subject to the techno/rave parties on the roof of an adjacent building that seem to have no schedule except at night. Complaints to the front desk are met with a shrug and "Désolé, monsieur, mais c'est Marseille." How silly a guest might ask for a quiet stay.
The breakfast buffet is fairly good but beware of the bus tour hotel guests who arrive en masse and feed like locusts. The staff seems to not be able to replenish the food quickly enough so that those who arrive after the locust horde are left with vastly reduced choices. In other words 50% of the buffet.

we were really disappointed with our choice to stay at the sofitel. the location was much more inconvenient than we expected, with a long, hilly trek required to reach the center of vieux-port and any metros (the bus stops closer but the concierge basically told us not to use it). service can best be described as disengaged and cold. it took two tries with maintenance to get our air conditioning working (we were clearly not the only ones with an issue since a toolbox set sat in the hallway of our floor by the elevator for the duration of our stay), and we received no follow up about it to make sure things were ok. the room is tight, with most of the space dedicated to a large bath. we would have preferred more living space. the "business center" is a round table in the open lobby where noise carries both from your conversations and the lobby's. overall, an uncomfortable place to stay and we mostly looked forward to departing.

I think the views from the Restaurant are wonderful and they look out over a wide vista of city and harbor, however it one goes right to the windows they certainly are a high vista and the terrace below is a few (2-3) stories down. BUT IT IS NOT LIKE STANDING ON A HIGH BRIDGE OR IN A MANHATTAN HIGHRISE!

Hi, our shower was a walking shower, with no lip or step to get in, but there were no handles. Our room wasn't specifically a disabled room, that is just how the shower was

Sorry can't answer this question but I don't think this would suit an elderly person the hotel is a long walk out of town and you would spend all your time going up and down in the lifts and nothing is really easily accessible for elderly people at this hotel. There is quite a climb up to the hotel front doors from the street.
