Hi :) We loved our stay at the purple suite! Perfect location, nice garden, cool rooftop terrace, great bed, beautiful cabane for breakfast & hospitality++++ Thanks again pascal & laurent! Team salt on bread ;)
he Villa d'Orient is a wonderful discovery for anyone who wants to holiday away from the corporate, predictable atmosphere of so many hotels. It is small, intimate but beautiful - an Art Deco house maintained in the style of its 1904 origin. Individual touches of antiques furnish the lovely breakfast room and the little garden crammed with perennial plants is a welcome relief from the dazzling sun of the South of France. Only 300 yards from the sea, you can bathe in the glorious azure bliss of the Med from a tiny pebbly bay and see the top of the Villa . We stayed in this loft style room surrounded by a generous terrace . Furnished stylishly in purple hues with intriguing paintings it is small in scale but delightful in the view from no less than two sets of French windows on to the cliffs of the Calanque. I wandered out one early morning and found myself serenaded by an astonishing chorus of birds from this wonderful wilderness beyond. Although the temperatures outside soared the room her with delightfully wafted by breezes from the Calanques and never stuffy. The Villa has smaller rooms below giving on to the garden and the proprietor, Vincent, inhabits the middle floor with his charming partner Christophe. He is truly a lovely host , always ready with timetables of boats, routes of little buses and suggestions for fun in the lovely city of Marseilles. A highlight of the delightful breakfast laid for us in the quaint conservatory was the gorgeous jam which is genuinely homemade by we hear Vincent's talented mother - a small touch perhaps but it sums up the care taken to provide every comfort in this paradisiacal little corner of the world. .…
I stayed one entire week in this marvellous house with my friend and i should admit that it was fabulous.Vincent received us like kings. It is a very quiet place with a fabulous view sea .It is also easy to join the city center . I definitely recommend this house to all the travellers who want to be hosted in Marseille . Delicious breakfast , perfect host , great localisation .I give a one hundred percent positive advice to La Villa d'Orient . Thanks so much Vincent for everything , we will come back soon .
I can recommend this property mostly because of this reasons: Price, Free Parking, Free WiFi at lobby, Quiet place and amazing location in the Calanques of Marseille. If you do not miss see view this is the perfect place for holiday. First of all, Vincent (the owner Manager) is an incredibly kind and helpful person, the whole atmosphere is very homely and peaceful! The location is great, just 2 minutes walk from the beach, and to GR departures in the Calanques. The purple room on the top floor has a view of the ocean. The breakfast is tasty with homemade marmalade. I can just highly recommend to everyone to visit this place for having a nice stay.
I will be very objective about this place and to do that I will first of all say that it is located in a beautiful spot of the Calanques, next to a beach and to the start of hiking routes: I highly recommend the hike through the Calanques along the coast departing from callelongue. It is amazingly beautiful!. As a second note there is a great restaurant close by called "petit port" and it is definitely worth to try it (it is not particularly cheap though). With that being said, I have to strongly disagree with the high ratings of the bed and breakfast and here is why (I was staying in the yellow room): 1. The bathroom is not really separated from the room, please look at pictures. This might result very unpleasant at times. Everything was clean though 2. The shower head is not fixed, you have to hold it. Furthermore the water is not always warm, specially in the evening it is quite cold. 3. The bedding is old and (as the couch) it can be a problem for allergic people 4. There were no fruits or ham or cheese in the breakfast (but this is not necessarily uncommon in bed and breakfasts in france). We had the same breakfast during the three days we stayed there, and the same amount of it as well. 5. The wifi was only available in the common room. 6. The manager, although polite was not very welcoming or friendly. He was simply polite and open to answer very punctual questions. All in all I was expecting more from a place with such reviews and for the price we payed. …
We had a fabulous time here (2 weeks in the studio). Only 10 min drive away from the maddening crowd of Marseille's major beaches you feel here as if you are in a small fishing village. The house is only a few footsteps away from the beach and has a real oasis of a cool garden. You can watch the sun set in the sea each night on the roof terasse. The studio was well equipped, and sitting at the table near the window you looked out onto the sea. Vicent and his friends were very helpful and friendly. We loved our stay here.
I brought my boyfriend here, after stumbling across the website accidentally. It was as a surprise for his birthday, Vincent is a fantastic host, and looks after his guests without being imposing, the room was pleasant, and homely, with a slightly vintage feel, and the location is fantastic, right next to the calnaques, and a very short walk to the beach, which we pretty much had to ourselves one evening. Breakfast was included in the price, and went down very well, with a range of pastries and yoghurt's set out on each table. The only thing I would say is that if you are looking for a holiday in the city of Marseille, speak to Vincent about taxis, as the walk from town, although flat, is quite long! if you want somewhere out of the way, and to enjoy the calnaques, this is the place for you!!! We had a lovely time here and would highly recommend it!…
Location, location: The house is nested in a beautiful Calanque of Marseille. Therefore, staying at the Villa d'Orient, you can have it all: City, beach, and nature. The sea is right around the corner, to go to the city, just hop on the bus. The house itself is gorgeous, the room we had was sunny, with a beautiful balcony, and a very nice sea view. And then the lush garden: If it gets too hot to lie on the beach, head back and enjoy the calm under the palm tree. The host is friendly and attentive. Breakfast is lovely and served under a fig tree. I am still dreaming of the smell of ripe figs!
Villa d'Orient is one of the nicest places I have ever stayed. Not because it is shiny as a 5-star hotel but because it is so unique and you can feel that the owners really care about it and about their guests. I would like to react to some previous reviews which I totally do not agree with. No windows? It is not true. The small garden rooms have only one window though, but where else would you out an other one? The rooms in the main building do have windows with nice view. Bugs, mosquitos, ants? I think it is pretty normal from a place where the garden is full with beautiful plants and trees. I really don't understand when people want a place that has a lot of plants and then complaining about bugs. You know, trees and gardens come with bugs and ants everywhere in the world. No one can do anything about it, this is called NATURE. The breakfast is lovely and more than enough. There are several beaches nearby. All our very small but I suppose it should be clear after deciding about a holiday to the Calanques. And it is not so hard to fill it up with locals since no more than 20-30 people can fit into those little beaches. We met a local family who were collecting the rubbish in the evening from one of the little beaches because they really care about it. It is only dirty because of the tourist not because of the French. The closest Calanques are nice but if you want to see the most beautiful Calanques you must go to Cassis. The restaurant 'Les Tamaris' has a beautiful view, good fish and meat. However, main dishes are starting from €25. In the nearby little village (Les goudes) there are more restaurants. They all have good quality food and all in the same price range. You can get there by walking but I really do not recommend it since there is no walking path next to the road. There is a little bus going there during daytime but the last one leaves at 7PM and comes back around the same time. I really enjoyed my short stay in Villa d'Orient and wish to go back very soon. Marseille and its sorroundings are not boring at all, it is just the matter of leaving the beaten track and exploring it by yourself.…
Advantages: very nice and compassionate hosts, lovely design. Disadvantages: 1) No windows in the rooms! No air conditionner! We had to sleep with an open door not to die of heat! 2) Lots of bugs, mosquitos and ants in the rooms. Those insects spoilt my clothes in the wardrobe. 3) The beach is dirty and always full of locals (in every time of the day and evening). 4) The tea for breakfast was served in a coffeepot. An it smelled like coffee. 5) The road to the city takes an hour. And the nearest place of interest is only the calanque that is rather monotonous. The whole trip was sooo boring. The price is comparable with that for a hotel in Paris. And the result is banal and unpleasant. По уровню это примерно Анапа. Если едете в это место, то платите как за Париж, а получаете Украину и по качеству отеля, и по достопримечательностям, и по уровню местного населения. Выбирайте другое место - более живописное и весёлое. А тут просто скука.…
