Amazing location, amazing staff, amazing hotel! I was managing a tour group in Nice for the weekend for the Rugby World Cup. We had already stayed in Marseille and Antibes and whilst the other two hotels had been lovely La Perouse raised the bar to the top level.

Hotel location was beautiful and is currently being renovated in areas. The rooms are very nice, as is the restaurant and pool. Staff was great. The elevators were a bit tricky though as each one only went up 1-3 floors, then you had to get off, find the other elevator and continue your ride. Also, the fire alarm went off twice in a 24 hour period...once at 2am....

Response from Hôtel La Pérouse Nice, Propriétaire at Hotel La Pérouse Nice
Responded 1 week ago
Dear Guest, Thank you very much for having taken the time to share your experience at La Pérouse Nice with us. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the beauty of our location, as well as our rooms, restaurant, and pool. Your satisfaction is our priority, and we are pleased that our staff could contribute to making your stay enjoyable. You mentioned that our elevators presented some challenges. Indeed, our hotel is built into the hillside, which offers breathtaking views but requires the use of several elevators to access different floors. We understand that this may have been somewhat confusing. We would also like to extend our apologies for the inconveniences you experienced during your stay. We are deeply sorry for the 2 a.m. fire alarm incident. We understand how disruptive and inconvenient this can be for our guests. Please rest assured that it was a false alarm caused by a faulty detector, and we have taken immediate steps to rectify this issue and prevent it from happening in the future. We hope that these incidents will not overshadow your overall impression of our hotel, and we would be delighted to welcome you again in the future to provide you with a more enjoyable experience. Warm regards,

We returned after Covid, and our experience was fantastic. All staff efficient and very friendly. Our late arrival (TGV delay) was met with calm and hospitality and complimentary wine. You had reserved for us a wheel chair which was always ready when needed. Delicious breakfast, and excellent dinner in beautiful patio, and Great pleasure on 6th floor terrace for relaxing

Beautiful hotel in a perfect location. The staff are so friendly and helpful. Very comfortable bed , lovely fresh towels and signature scent throughout hotel. Only negative point was slightly disappointing balcony/terrace area , rusty planters and slightly unkempt ( room 208).Delicious breakfast and lovely dinner one evening in the Patio restaurant . Would highly recommend this hotel for a relaxing stay in Nice .

We have stayed many times in La Perouse and have never been disappointed. Such a haven of peace and tranquility, with magnificent views over Nice and the Mediterranean Sea. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming and always ready to help with everything. The restaurant is excellent, but a lunch menu different to the dinner menu would be better I feel. The solarium would benefit from more sun loungers and parasols. The new reception is more spacious and attractive and on the whole the refurbishment has been good, although a few more pictures etc on the walls in the rooms and hallways would be nice. We look forward to our next visit to La Perouse, hopefully in the not too distant future. Thank you and best wishes to you all

Luxurious bright boutique hotel right off promenade with stunning views of the water. I stayed in a large king room with roll out sofa and ample closet space and tub. The decorative finishes in the room were refined with an artful embroidered headboard. The bathroom very large with a large stand alone tub, towel heater, double vanity and stand alone shower. Outdoor pool and cafe were very pretty. The pool is adequate for dipping and set against a cliff adjacent to hotel (the hotel is at base of the colline du chateau park). Lots of other decks allow for a beautiful view of the Côte d’Azur!

I actually went in August 2022 but I can't review back that far. My wife and I stayed here for part of our honeymoon, having stayed previously, and it is a wonderful hotel and location. This was before the recent refurbishment, so I can't comment on how successful that refurbishment has been. The location is, in my view, the best in Nice. The pool and sauna are excellent. The room is very comfortable. The breakfast is fantastic. We had dinner one evening which was similarly fantastic. From the courtyard, you simply would not know that you were in the centre of a busy city. It is like a mini-oasis. The staff are all very friendly. We a very keen to come back and stay again now that the rooms have been refurbished. The only - very mild - negative is that there is very poor sound-proofing between adjacent rooms, and we could hear everything from the room beside ours.

We stayed in La Pérouse in August for our 30th wedding anniversary. From start to finish it was perfect, the staff , the room , the location and the breakfast. A really special touch was on finding out it was our anniversary, a bottle of champagne and chocolates were delivered to our room. Thank you so much 😊

Just spent a week at this gem of a hotel with our two teenaged daughters. Its in a wonderful location, but remsins very quiet and like an oasis in the centre of the city. I wanted to say thank you to the staff for all their help. We had 2 lovely rooms by the secluded courtyard dining area which were lovely and so peaceful. Unfortunately there was a fault with the air-conditioning but we were really happy with the mobile units and fans and although we were offered a move we liked the rooms and decided this was fine. We then had an unexpected issue with our room (totally out of anyone's control) and because workmen needed to access it, we were moved to a huge suite with the most amazing view of the bay from the balcony and given champagne and canopies as an "apology". The staff were also very helpful with booking a doctor when my husband had a reaction to an insect bite (we must have been their dream guests...!). It was all the little details that made us feel very welcome, emails asking how they could help before we arrived (with great answers and recommendations) staff remembering your names, booking us a table at a great restaurant when they were fully booked... its a very unique and beautiful place with a charming atmosphere. Thank you La Perouse

I debated writing this, but we're several weeks out and I'm still pretty disgusted with our experience and genuinely feel like people should be aware before they book. TL/DR: This place will absolutely downgrade you from what you’ve paid for, lie to you about it, and try to make you feel nuts if you call them on it! I will never stay here again, but if you do I advise booking the cheapest room you can and then angling for an upgrade, so you’re not disappointed/cheated! We had a reservation for four nights in a Deluxe Full Sea View Room and arrived at 9pm due to a wildfire that held our train up in Cannes for almost 4 hours (also closing the highways, so no way to get there!). We made it, tired and hungry, through the protracted check-in process and were finally shown to our room...only to discover it was not the room we'd booked. To be clear, it was a lovely room with a small terrace; a "Superior Room with a Sea View" to be exact, which I knew immediately because I had spent more time than I should have debating whether it was worth the extra money for the Deluxe (we're only two people, we'll hardly be in the room, etc.). In the end I'd decided to live a little...I so wish I hadn't because then this would probably be a very different review. I told the Bellhop who seemed a little too ready for that reaction and he called up the front desk. After some back and forth about whether we were *sure* that this wasn't the room we'd booked he told us the front desk was saying this *was* a Deluxe room, but in any even they were completely booked up so nothing could happen until tomorrow. I stopped by the front desk on my way out where they continued to try and convince us that we were crazy and this *was* the room even though it looked nothing like any of the pictures and we were literally minutes earlier staring from our tiny Juliette Balcony at rooms with the kind of terrace we'd purchased... It got a little better the next day when the daytime staff was finally willing to admit that was not, in fact, the room we’d booked and said they had another room to show us. 4 elevators later we emerged at the top of the entire complex at this admittedly very large, nice suite. They said this was the other room they could offer us and, even though it seemed like it might still be a little under construction (there was quite literally a guy welding the gate that had to stop for a minute to let us through) we said we’d take it because at least it had a semi-private space to lay out…though I’ll let you judge the sea (bush) view for yourself. The problem started when we got back that afternoon and realized that the reason the room was hotter than hell’s front porch when we first got there was not because the AC wasn’t running beforehand, it was because they had this pathetic, elderly unit to coo a giant room. The rest of the trip was spent out of the room as much as we could be…it was hot and off a big public terrace from which people kept wandering up (fun!). They offered zero compensation for our first night spent in a cheaper room (like not even a round of drinks!), made no apology for out-and-out lying to us for the first 12 hours, and just generally ruined the whole experience. Bonus: we realized later we sat there and listened to them give our room away to this horrible tacky woman who checked in after us and was going on about how they were just in Niece for two nights until they could get to San Tropez. She had called ahead and negotiated an upgrade of some sort…and we realized after a couple days that based on the floor we heard her assigned it was the floor where we should have been!

Response from Hôtel La Pérouse Nice, Propriétaire at Hotel La Pérouse Nice
Responded 4 weeks ago
Dear Madam, We always welcome and encourage our guests to leave feedback after staying with us and here, we are really saddened to see this new review. While we understand our guest's disappointment if our service ever falls short of expectations, we feel in no circumstances one can believe we “lie” to our guests. As answered on the other booking platform you left a review on, you were not downgraded and we’re actually truly sorry about us making you feel that way upon arrival and for the disappointment it has created. We always do our very best to ensure no confusion is possible as our guest satisfaction is our daily priority. Hence, we want to reiterate that at La Pérouse Nice, each of our rooms is unique due to our property being an historical building nestled onto the Castle of Nice. Each room from all our different room categories has a proper balcony or a terrace, as listed on our direct website but also on all the well-known third-party booking platforms, including Expedia. We fully understand that you would have preferred to have a wider terrace, but the room assigned upon arrival was indeed well matching the room category reserved ie. a Deluxe full Sea View room. Also, from the moment you expressed your comments and request to have a bigger terrace, the team has made its best and upgraded you, free of charge, on your second day (and not before due to the hotel occupancy) to a Junior Suite on our rooftop terrace. We are also committed to revising our room categories descriptions to prevent any misunderstandings. Also, to complement the above, it is important for us to say we don’t have any Juliette balconies. All the balconies we have are proper balconies which are big enough to accommodate one table and chairs. Again, we always aim to provide all our guests with a memorable and positive experience, and we are terribly sorry that we did not meet your expectations on this occasion. Best regards,
