The hotel is in a central location, halfway between the train station and the beach/old city. The rooms are basic but clean with airconditioning, tv, safe and free wi-fi. The manager was especially helpful and speaks fluent english, on check-in he spent 20 mins explaining the city map and the local attractions. Highly recommended no frills hotel for location and...

My fiance and I stayed in Nice for 4 nights. This is a great budget hotel. The room was clean and comes with a TV and safe lock. Although the room itself is a tad small (not much walking room with our 2 suitcases occupying the floors), the bathroom is a comfortable size. The room lacks lighting but it wasn't...

We have just returned from Nice today after having stayed at the Hotel Star for 2 nights. We found it to be a great budget hotel. The bedding was spotless , the shower was hot and powerful and the location was brilliant too. (There is a shopping mall at the end of the street ladies!!). Phillipe, one of the owners...

Bonjour, Having read the reviews I was on my guard in case we had the 'odd' receptionist on our arrival. We did. He first refused to look at our printed sheet showing our booking " don't show me any paper i've seen enough paper today" in perfect english, please note, I was now looking at him with some disdain. Then...

Quaint, quiet, and colorful little hotel in nice area just off main street "Medecin" and a pleasant 10 minute walk from train station. Several nice restaurants & bars very close. Clean room, but small. Nice window view to the little street. Good AC. Nice bathroom, with shower/tub, amenities & 115V US socket. No free breakfast (eu$6), but it looked okay...

We stayed here in July and couldn't have been happier. Quiet locale, easy 10 minute walk to old town and the beach, or walk 100 yards to the new trolley. One block away are 4 excellent, reasonably priced restaurants frequented mostly by people who live here. The room was not large but adequate in size and immaculate and quiet. The...

Hotel is everything you could ask for from a budget hotel; great location, etc. Phillipe(the owner?) was helpful, professional, etc. Our experience, however, was a bit soured by our interactions with Alfredo. I've traveled a fair bit and I studied French in school so I am familiar with general French customs and have always had my basic attempts at French...

The room was fine and around what we expected for the the price but the concierge was stunningly rude to us. Basically, he routinely refused to give us our room key unless we asked for it in French with *perfect* pronunciation. One night he made my wife say the room number close to TEN times before she finally got close...

Hotel Star is conveniently located in the midway between Gare Nice Ville (train station) and the Prommenade des Anglais (within 10 min walk to both destinations). The Gare Routeiere is also within walking distance. A big supermarket called MONOPRIX is just next to the hotel, you can have food, daily necessites, ...at reasonable prices. The Hotel is well maintained and...

i agree with all the other positive comments. Location, cost, cleanliness, good plumbing, picturesque, good breakfast, free lobby computer, free beach towels, mats and umbrellas, funky feel, all just what we wanted. Although Alfredo, the asst director, gradually warmed up and was quite helpful, when we first checked in, he cooly told me to use a complete sentence when talking to...
