2023 Travelers' Choice Best of the Best

Located on the famous Promenade des Anglais facing the Bay of Angels, Le Negresco is a unique and timeless legend of the French Riviera.

Le Negresco is one of the last French Luxury independent hotels which offers a real testimonial of French Art and History thanks to Jeanne Augier who owned the hotel from 1957 to 2019. Madame bequeathed a large private collection of more than 6,000 works of art distributed throughout the hotel.

Each of the 102 rooms and 26 suites has been personalized with furniture inspired by the remarkable centuries from Louis XIII to present day.

With over 110 years of history, Le Negresco, symbol of excellence, still welcomes celebrities, actors, artists and heads of state.

To this French art of living is added gastronomy with an innovative and creative cuisine. Virginie Basselot, Best Craftsman, is at the helm of our Michelin-starred restaurant Le Chantecler and our contemporary brasserie La Rotonde.

With its authentic walnut woodwork dating back to 1913, Le Bar is a comfy place to enjoy a drink or eat a snack. In the evening, it moves to the rhythm of jazz, pop and soul.

For the summer period, our new private beach N La Plage offers a bright atmosphere for each of your summer moments facing the Bay of Angels.

Le Negresco embarks on a new voyage of beauty and well-being that begins with the opening december 2023 of its Spa , designed for aesthetes in their quest for precious moments of well-being.

The hotel is a destination in its own right, it is just fabulous. Go to Nice because of the Negresco. The whole ambience is superb, the staff are fantastic, the facilities are first class throughout, and the artwork! We ate in La Rotonde on Sunday night, it was so good and the staff were exceptional, the food is of the highest order, so we ate there again the following night. Our seaview room was just wonderful, the only downside was the heating/cooling system, and the technology takes a little getting used to. You should visit the bars in the hotel, they are an experience to be enjoyed.

In decades of travel, this is easily the finest hotel in which my wife and I have ever stayed. Near-perfection. We rarely re-visit places, as we love to explore new locales; this hotel is so nice that we would consider a return in part due to how great Le Negresco was!

My stay at Hotel Le Negresco has been such a great experience, from the moment I arrived at the hotel, until the moment I left. The staff was very kind and helpful and made me feel so welcome and cared for, the bedroom and the bathroom were so clean, beautiful and warm, and very well supplied with consumables, that I would have stayed there forever. The view towards the Massena Garden and the sea was SPECTACULAR, and the coffee was great too! In the room I have found flowers and water, and every single detail made me feel like home. The atmosphere was very warm, cozy and peaceful! The furniture was so beautiful and stylish, the wardrobe was very large and foreseen with a safe for valuable objects. The place is so safe and quiet, and as a solo guest I felt very cared for and very welcome and not alone at all. In the evening I have had dinner at the restaurant La Rotonde. The dishes have been delicious, the setting was very nice, the music was so relaxing and the staff has always been very kind and attentive. I highly recommend the foie gras! It was the best I have ever eaten! Overall, my experience at Hotel Le Negresco has been the best I've ever had in terms of accommodation abroad and I can't wait to return <3

The service in every way was exceptional. Comfort of the guest is at the top, and it shows at all times. The room was generously appointed with a comfortable bed, excellent pillows and linens, plus a welcoming seating area inside and outside. Closet and bureau space was entirely sufficient and the bathroom was well appointed. Housekeeping saw to every detail. Each time we entered our room it was perfectly arranged, especially including turn down service. Room service was so helpful and truly attended to each detail to provide a lovely experience having a snack overlooking the sea from our room. We ate the buffet breakfast each day and the selection was good the items did not change, but the selection was diverse enough to satisfy each day. Le Chantecler proved an exceptional experience, the service was top and the food was creative and expressive, with the staff paying close attention to any dietary needs. The wine list is truly delightful and well priced. We don't know when we will return to Nice, but when we do it will be to Le Negressco!

Le Negresco was an absolutely fabulous experience. Their service is exceptional and personable, and the hotel itself is an absolute gem. Their art, facilities, live music, delicious breakfast were all excellent. Their beds and pillows were soft and clean, their bathrooms beautiful with wonderful showers. I really loved there was a door to close between the entry door and bedroom. The view - well - it was gorgeous. We will be back. As shown in their beautiful hotel, this is where the stars have chosen to stay for decades and rightfully so.

I had such a lovely stay here. The first point of contact at the hotel entrance, Radoane, helped me with my luggage, and for someone with such a tall and striking frame, he displayed a really pleasant and gentle demeanor. I had arrived early, around 12.30pm, and I was happy to know that my room was already ready for check-in. I also requested for a late checkout (1.45pm), given that my flight to London was only in the late afternoon. My wish was granted, but in the end, my flight was rescheduled and I had to check out around 12.30pm anyway. My room on the fourth floor was spacious, and it had a little balcony with an arresting view of the sea (“la mer”), the garden (of Musée Massena next door) and Castle Hill. The perfect triple combo of sea, “mountains” and gardens! What. A. View. Simply stunning. It’s the first thing you see as you enter the bedroom at the end of a long corridor upon entering the main door. It really stops you in your tracks. It’s just so beautiful. Like a photo. Like a postcard. C’est incroyable! C’est super! C’est magnifique!! The double bed was so very comfortable that I slept like a log. (I must have snored!) The decor of leopard prints wasn’t quite my style (wink, wink!) but I broke into a smile as I recalled scenes of the very tanned “bling bling” jet-set in the Côte d’Azur that I’ve seen on Netflix shows. The cupboards were old fashioned but well maintained, and reminded me of my own granny’s furniture. The bathroom was fairly spacious with a bathtub, two sinks and a separate loo, and they were very generous with the fluffy towels. (Note: the water pressure of the shower could have been better but thankfully I wanted a bubble bath anyway!) I was fortunate to meet the duty manager Sabrina for a lovely 20-minute tour of the hotel. It was nice to know a little more about the history of the hotel and also to see the main pieces of art work, such as those of the late Jeanne Augier, Napoleon Bonaparte and Louis XIV, the much loved king. Later, I made it a point to go floor by floor, up till the fifth, to view and take photos of the beautiful works of art. For me, it was such a treat! Another thing you must check out is the special red lift/elevator with its red and gold door. Inside, it’s a plush, cute little red room with a small chandelier. It was fascinating just watching it operate like clock work! I patronised all the dining outlets - Le Chantecler, La Rotonde and the bar. The food was superb and service was especially friendly at La Rotonde and Le Chantecler. The staff were amazing! Kudos to all of them for serving with such passion! I actually had quite a heavy parcel to mail home, and the concierge helped carry it out in no time. What a relief. Also, Radoane and friends helped me with my luggage and hailed a taxi for me after a very smooth hotel checkout. Even the taxi driver was such a pleasant chap, and we had a nice chat during the ride to the airport. He also helped carry my luggage to the check-in area. What a relief that was too! I know I missed the summer season so I didn’t have the chance to use Le Negresco’s La Plage (private beach) or dine at Le Negresco Beach Restaurant. I was also too early for the opening of the spa at the end of the year. Yet I had such a wonderful stay. I wanted to be surrounded by art and beauty, and to enjoy good food and warm hospitality. Le Negresco ticked all the right boxes. Merci beaucoup, Le Negresco! Highly recommended! Bien sûr!!

The positive part is that there are a lot of paintings and other art throughout the lobby, stairs and hallways. The hotel is a bit dated. The rooms are very noisy, we felt like we were sleeping on the sidewalk. The single pane windows provide almost no sound barrier. It looks like there was an attempt to sort this out and update the windows but the job was sub-mediocre. The service at "La Rotonda" restaurant was very good, the food selection quite short.

Dear Hermanstadt, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback following your recent stay at Le Negresco. We appreciate both your positive comments and the areas where you feel we can improve. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed the extensive art collection throughout the lobby, stairs, and hallways. Our commitment to showcasing art is a key part of the unique character of Le Negresco. However, we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you experienced regarding the noise level in your room. Your comfort is of utmost importance to us, and we regret that the single-pane windows did not provide the sound barrier you expected. The main street of Nice (Promenade des Anglais) is quite busy all year long. As a consequence, should you look for a quieter room in this hotel located in this main avenue, we advise you to book an "exclusive" room for your future stay with us. The latter offers great views on the gardens from the Museum Massena but also a partial view on the Mediterranean. Our reservations team will be delighted to guide you with your future room selection. On a brighter note, we are pleased to learn that you had a positive experience at "La Rotonde" restaurant and found the service to be very good. We appreciate your feedback on the food selection, and we will certainly take this into consideration as we continually strive to enhance our dining offerings. We value your input and would like to extend our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience you encountered. If your travels bring you back to Nice, we would be honored to have another opportunity to provide you with a more seamless and enjoyable experience. Thank you for choosing Le Negresco, and we hope to welcome you back in the nearby future. Yours faithfully, Lionel Servant General Manager
