We stayed for five nights. The rooms in the modern wing were comfortable and clean with excellent room service. The hotel was quiet and picturesque as described. The breakfast was a good buffet but expensive . We ate Dinner in the restaurant on two occasions and enjoyed excellent meals. The stay was good value for the price paid.

My daughter and I stayed here in May, 2007 and thought the hotel was great. First: you are inside the medieval walled city, so it's easy to walk to all the spots you came here for! The hotel has a stunning central courtyard and a lovely dining area. While it seemed a tad understaffed (longish wait for the bell hop)... More

I chose this hotel because of its historic heritage and luxury rating(4-star), and stayed in the “modern wing”. Everything from check-in to check-out was pure disappointment: untrained staff, TV not working, A/C remote well hidden and hard to find, small towels looking very tired, no room service at night, mini bar half empty. As for sleeping comfort, it was terrible:... More

We booked the hotel via the Eurostar website - looked the best of the lower priced hotels. The original building itself is lovely, and the modern additions are well done (on the exterior), but the hotel is stuck in some sort of hotel design timewarp with distinctly dated tatty and chipped black beech furniture; there was black mold around the... Don't stay here. Our room was dark and dingy despite being sold as a Traditional Superior overlooking the courtyard. Black furniture complete with black PVC couch. 2 tiny (6ins max) windows. Complained and were moved to a "suite" which was just as bad. None too clean either and shower soaks the floor. The porter looked so embarrassed we ended up... More

Stayed during festival time - noisy, but fun. Lots of daft people and performers on the streets. Very jolly. Hotel tough to find - especially since the carpark is on a different road. Parked in the wrong location in the carpark - got a rude note on the car next morning telling me to move - LIKE I DID?!! It... More

We stayed at the Cloitre St. Louis during the Avignon festival, so it was a busy time in the city. The hotel provided a lovely oasis. All three of our rooms were spacious and sunny, looking out onto a gracious courtyard. The roof top pool is very inviting, while the courtyard is a fabulous place for cocktails. The front desk... We stayed just one night here on our driving route from Paris to the South of France. It was really very pleasant. The room was unique (it was in the old part of the hotel) and the WC was on a different level from the shower/bath and the bedroom/office area. The room was in good repair (I saw the photo... More

One visits Avignon for the history and feel of a town that was famous as the home of the Pope in the 1300's. The Cloitre Saint Louis is a lovely medieval building that has seen many lives in the past 400 years or so. What this means is that the main part of the hotel is not modern and requires... More
