"A secret garden in Aix-en-Provence" The Hotel Le Pigonnet is an enchanting escape in the heart of Aix-en-Provence. This elegant Provence bastide combines the 18th century warmth with a contemporary style in order to offer guests a pure delight of charm and peacefulness, where the heaven’s doors are always opened. And imagine admiring the majestic Sainte-Victoire Mountain as through the eyes of the renowned painter Paul Cézanne. The beautiful garden remains a real place to live where regular guests, guests on holidays or people from the city, play the traditional “pétanque”, enjoy the swimming pool or savor southern cuisine dishes, at the restaurant La Table du Pigonnet. Take a stroll around this marvelous garden. The magic and peaceful atmosphere makes you believe you are not in the heart of the city. This haven of peace is lined up with century chestnut trees, a blooming arcade with roses of a thousand colors. Le Pigonnet currently brings Aix locals and tourists from around the globe together via fine dining and music. Traditions and modern art de vivre are rolled into one, making the hotel an ideal base for touring the south. It is also a destination in itself. Relax to the sound of the water features and walk in Paul Cézanne's footsteps. No need to go far to escape as you explore the delightful sections one after another.

We spent $1800 for 3 nights in room 19, which was a Deluxe grade. We opted for extra room and loved the idea of a balcony and double sinks (as featured on the website). The room had neither. The bathroom was small with nowhere to put toiletries and their was no space to sit and relax after a day in Aix. Isn't this false advertising? The hotel is a bit tired and the breakfast was just OK. The only aspect of this property that screams 5 stars is the garden. What a let down.

This splendid hotel is located within a walking distance from vieux Aix. Big plus is definately a beautiful garden for chilling out but the hotel’s best assets is their personel. The service is impeccable and they’re always good-humoured. Not to mention about their own gourmet restaurant. I can warmly recommend Le Pigonnet in Aix.

We had the most beautiful stay at Le Pigonnet. The pool was lovely and warm, the staff were so friendly, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was huge. Frederic the gentleman on reception was lovely, he went out of his way to help at all times. Only downsides were that there wasn’t a fridge in the room and the hotel is a 10-15 minute walk to the centre which can be long in the heat.

The grounds themselves are pretty, but for the most part it needs a complete refresh. There was no one to help us usually, the pool was full of pigeons, the service in the restaurant was very poor. Definitely an over-priced property, and disappointing for us.

A beautiful hotel with a stunning, well cared for, garden full of discreet corners to read and relax. The variety of trees was just wonderful and the sound of birds and crickets will stay with me for some time. The staff, without exception, were friendly, relaxed and highly professional. I arrived home yesterday and have already tried to book for next year!

We visited Hotel Le Pigonnet after a wonderful morning of tastings and touring Provence. The grounds, service, food and overall atmosphere were absolutely perfect for a sunny French country day. I would stay at Hotel Le Pigonnet next time we’re in Provence.

Bewitchingly beautiful gardens. Baudelaire, in the poem "L'Invitation au voyage," makes a mantra of "luxe, calme, et volupté" ("luxury, calm, and voluptuousness"), and Le Pigonnet offers just that when you walk the short walk back from the hot summer streets of Aix. A green oasis filled with whimsical statues, a lovely pool, pétanque, a large gracious outdoor terraced bar, a beautiful restaurant, the chirping of cicadas and movement of birds in the treetops. The personnel are attentive and nuanced; our restaurant server was truly funny and we enjoyed joking with her over the courses of excellent food. Very nice representation of the superb local wines from the vineyards of Cassis etc.

We had 5 nights here. The grounds are beautiful. Room was ok, though noting the bed was very comfortable. Breakfast buffet was good, but nothing special. It is not a difficult walk into the center of Aix. There may be a marketing strategy pitched towards tourist groups, particularly those who like to talk very loudly and tend to take-over common areas like the dining area. For all the nice aspects, I think it is an overpriced experience.

Le Pigonet is a truly great hotel in a lovely location. Home from home in Aix en Provence. The restaurant is great, though a bit pricey. The hotel has a lovely peaceful garden and is located 10-15 minutes walk from the old town.
