Paul Cézanne missed Aix terribly whenever he left, and never ceased to be inspired by its beauty. Many after him succumbed to the charm of this town and the ambience of this Florentine residence. The rooms are sumptuously decorated, and open onto a private garden filled with the fragrance of lavender. The cuisine pays tribute to Provence with dishes like sautéed loin of lamb and aubergine caviar with olives, black garlic sauce and fried basil. Try the famous local speciality of Calisson, sweets flavoured with melon and orange. Villa Gallici offers a special “Cézanne package”, which includes a visit to the painter’s studio.

I have known this hotel for over 30 years and to me it is the best hotel in Provence: the perfect home away from home as it feels like a small country house with just 23 rooms. The terrace, the gardens and pool are wonderful and the rooms are an exquisite exercise in blending old world charm with modern amenities. But above all, it is Mr. Mounet and his team who make all the difference and who go out of their way to make you the happiest guest!

Hotel's Favorite
Apart from the beautiful property with its own sculpture garden and pool, the rooms were thoughtfully decorated with attention to every detail. Perhaps one of the top best hotel experiences I've had. The service was impeccable and each member of the staff polite and informed. In all, I hope to find reason to return again as it really was the grand finale of a great summer holiday in aix-en-provence.

Constant, but unobtrusive, attention is paid to guests and ensuring the quality of their stay. Being older, we were unable to bring our massive, overpacked suitcases up the old, spiral staircase but the bellman were quite helpful. The employees in reception were so incredibly pleasant, helpful, and always looking to find ways to be of service. The Villa is located on a hill, about a 5-10 minute walk above the town, but it's an easy walk both ways with no steep climbs.

This hotel is all of the wonderful things as stated in its 5 star reviews. Beautiful grounds, well appointed spa, delicious restaurant, and full of flowers. However, it’s staff members truly make this place such a rare find. Michael at breakfast was quick to put a smile on the face of all guests and Juliette was so kind and welcome—all staff members are excellent. The location was a perfect as well! We cannot wait to return and hope to see all very soon.

Loved it! Villa Gallici is beautiful Italian style Villa and the staff is outstanding. The location is a short walk to anywhere in Aix-en-Provence. Make sure to have breakfast on the veranda where the service is impeccable as expected.

This hotel is wonderful.Unique, clean, great food, kind staff, beautiful grounds, Amel and Mateo at the front desk helped us with everything. I received the greatest massage with Aurelie. When you enter it smells like lavender, very calming.

This is a lovely hotel close to town. I would highly recommend it. The staff was kind and respectful. The highlight was the best massage I have ever experienced by Aurelie. Since I am a massage therapist and have recieved many of them, her massage was so special and healing. She also works on the lymphatic system. She has just the right amount of pressure. The food was great, service at breakfast fantastic, Boris made me a pot of mint tea and brought it to my room. Dinner totally FANCY and delicious. The front desk staff, Amel and Matteo were helpful with every question. We rode our bikes through the beautiful countryside and were able to walk to center of town easily.

Is this the worst hotel I’ve stayed at? No. Was it good? Also no. Let me start with the positives. The property is gorgeously landscaped. You feel like you’re in a private oasis. The pool is very nice, but during peak summer hours the chairs are scarce. The breakfast buffet was fine. Restaurant staff were friendly enough. And on to the bad. I can’t believe this is a 5-star hotel. It’s overpriced and the rooms feel dated. The front desk employees were the least friendly we encountered during our 2+ week excursion in France. One evening we requested in advance that a taxi be called to take us into town. The gentleman at the desk said no problem. When we came back down to the lobby an hour later, a different woman was at the desk and said she had no record of our reservation and instead of offering to immediately call a taxi, sort of argued with us and continued to insist no such reservation existed. We were given the odd 2-story room…the bedroom was upstairs and the bathroom was down a narrow and steep flight of stairs. Overall it was annoying having to trek bath and forth. The room was also unbearably hot despite the ACs being on. We kept the window’s curtains closed during the day, but this didn’t seem to help. After a day of sightseeing, we came back to our room to find housekeeping had opened the curtain and turned off both AC units. It was absolutely miserable. The bed was uncomfortable, lumpy in areas. On the final night, we finally asked for a fan which they did provide. We had quite the unsettling experience when our hotel door was unlocked and 2 hotel employees appeared inside our door at nearly 11pm. I was dead asleep with earplugs in when they turned on the lights, we kind of just stared at each other and they finally closed the door. Completely bizarre. Finally, the location is subpar. While it’s only a 15-20 walk to the center of Aix, you really miss out on the charm of the town. Bottom line, I would never stay here again.
