Excellent location by the vieux port, it’s not the easiest to find/get to. You have to park 400 yards away in a busy underground car park (be prepared to queue for a space). Then a walk down a busy road to find the hotel. Parking is €8 per night. Hotel itself is well appointed, some quirky and funky decor. Very clean, friendly and well maintained. It’s great for a one night or a multiple night stay. Rates include a very satisfactory breakfast.

Ibis styles is located right near the harbour of La Rochelle really ideal if you get dropped in on the bus from the airport , simple to find and a 5 min walk from the bus station! The staff all speak english which is great , the rooms are well laid out and the beds are fantastic , the mattress is so comfy ! Breakfast is included its well stocked consistently and is a large variety of a french continental breakfast was very impressed with this ! They were able to look after our bags on check out in a secure room which was also great , only small let down was size of the bathroom but apart from that would highly recommend staying here !

Really good location in hotel that we previously stayed in during 2001 when it was just Ibis. New decor extremely interesting, but our 3rd floor room was rather small, particularly bathroom. Good friendly service from Reception.

Review collected in partnership with Accorhotels.com
This is a nice hotel and a great location but, according to locals, the city is trying to cut back on driving in the city. I have no problem with that but, they do not have any obvious solution like a car park on the outskirts of town with a shuttle service. We got here at noon on Saturday and we just parked in the "special" parking lot Ibis supposedly has with a parking garage. It was 4:45 before we found a parking space. So we wasted half a day just parking, much of that time driving around the park garage waiting for someone to leave, along with a dozen other cars trying to get a parking space. It was worse today and on Wednesday than normal because, although they have farmers market here every day, it normally ends at 13:00, but on Saturdays and Wednesdays it lasts until 20:00. While the market is going, nearly all the roads to town center are closed. If I lived here, I would fire the mayor and the entire city counsel. I've traveled all over France in the past 7 years and I've never seen a mess like this. I will never come back here, and we are spending a month nearby in Bordeaux. The parking charge is 8E/day which is not bad, the problem was there were literally no parking spaces at any price. La Rochelle web site claims to have large public transportation, but I've not seen a bus here in the 5 hours we've been driving around. Possibly I'll change my mind after I've been here for a while. Because of the five lost hours, I haven't had a chance to look around. But I'm so mad I doubt it can change. In addition, I'm used to small bathrooms in Europe, but this one is ridiculous. The photo attached is taken from the shower as the room is too small to get a picture from the room. The only good thing I can say is: If this hotel could fix the parking problems, like have a parking lot on the outskirts of town with a shuttle service, this is a great location. Unfortunately, they not only don't have a solution, they were not at all helpful in helping us park.

We travel the world and have for years. We travel to France a minimum of once a year. This has been the worst hotel experience EVER. Prior to arrival i wrote to determine parking. The letter was polite and informative —we were informed that thé hôtel had an arrangement with a garage about four blocks away. Address and name furnished. Whatever that arrangement is, it doesn’t include a space. We idled for well over an hour and a half hoping to find one—NOTHING. No parking attendant to assist, no one at the front desk to assist. Although we checked in at noon it was 4 pm before we could leave the car after having been captive to it for four totally wasted, frustrating hours. La Rochelle has blocked off virtually every street from foot traffic. Getting into the area around here was a living hell as GPS does not reflect these closures. It would have been so easy for the staff to have informed us to park far away and to have either provided a shuttle or told us to take a taxi. Have never been treated with such disregard for a guest’s comfort.
