Driving past when arriving in La Rochelle. We stopped and my wife ran in to see if they had a room, which they did. This was a great choice for us. We had two large suitcases so the nice girl at the reception put us into a ground floor room so that we did not have to carry our bags upstairs. The hotel is in a fantastic position to walk into the main parts of La Rochelle. Would have stayed longer if we had more time. Would not hesitate to stay again.

I've just got back from a weekend break in La Rochelle, and Hotel Atlantic was perfect for our purpose. Do not expect the Ritz, but for somewhere to just get your head down, in an excellent location, it's perfect. The manager and staff are very friendly and couldn't be more helpful. The room was very neat and clean. It had a double bed, a kettle with tea and coffee (paper cups), a TV, a shower room with basin and toilet. It was all I needed to make my stay comfortable, because I did not spend that much time in the hotel. Breakfast was continental, plenty of croissants, toast, cereals, fruit etc. (It wasn't included in my stay but was 11 euros). La Rochelle is an amazing location, cafe culture, plenty of cafe bars and restaurants, all within the beautiful and picturesque cobble streets. The architecture is full of character. A must go to place to visit is a place called Chez Hortense, it;s very French, bizarre some might say, but the atmosphere and manager is awesome. All the locals go there and you've just got to go with it. It's the kind of place that's difficult to describe, but it was great fun. There are so many restaurants and the food is fantastic. I thoroughly recommend this hotel and I will visit again.

This hotel is well located in the city, close to the port area with its many shops and restaurants and only a few minutes level walk from two car parks. The hotel is welcoming and the staff helpful and friendly. A excellent breakfast also. Highly reccomendedif you value a clean, good value hotel without the trappings of spas etc.

The only good things I can mention are the location and the tidiness. Rooms are TINY, hence the bathroom and what was supposed to be a closet. Our room looked over the garden, noises started around 5 am when b/f tables were being set, until 7am when guests actually enjoyed their breakfast; of course sleeping was out of the question. Why not shut the window? ... 'cause there was no AC. Besides all this, the clerk suggested a parking area and today we got to our car and found that both our trunk and glove compartment were emptied, several of our souvenirs bought during our road trip were stollen. Summing up, poor experience, if you are looking for a place less than mediocre, this is the place to visit. Ah! No elevator, narrow/steep staircase in a 3 story construction. A keeper!

A shoebox experience - room 14 - gladly just for one night where no aircon and limited outside air certainly did not help the heat. Furthermore, rooms are nowhere near soundproof and whenever a neighboring client walks in the corridor or in a room, you get the full experience. Other than that, room and hotel were clean and well maintained. Staff was kind and pleasant. However, no need to go back. Other hotels in the area seem more welcoming..
