Detailed Reviews
I love this place. I didn't want to leave since the very first moment I get here. Landscape is beautiful without being gorgeous. It's peaceful. And that's something I know lots of people will appreciate. Great food and nice drinks by the pool. I absolutely recommend it.

I traveled with a group of friends for three nights during the peak summer season. It’s a great option for a semi-rustic beach getaway. We chose the least rustic option by renting a cabana. These are cabins with a fully outfitted kitchen, bathroom and shower, seating area, patio with hammock and beds with mosquito netting. They have plumbing and electricity and plenty of space for three people (one double bed and one twin). There is an overhead fan to keep the place cooled off in the summer. The cabanas are dispersed along the path to the beach and are semi-private. The area is very quiet and you can hear the crashing of the waves at night. The walk to the beach is no more than 5 minutes. Bring your own beach chairs, umbrellas, etc. – there are no rental services like you might find at more developed beach towns. The Pueblo Barrancas has a beautiful restaurant and bar area at the center and its own organic garden that services the restaurant. The menu changes nightly but every meal we had there was fantastic – some of the best food we’ve had anywhere in Uruguay or Argentina. If you want to cook your own meals, there are grocery stores in La Pedrera or La Paloma. There is a swimming pool at the center of the bar/restaurant area, though it seemed a little overrun with bugs. It does have nice lounge chairs for laying in the sum, however. There are a lot of mosquitos in the area and the mosquito nets on the beds had some holes in them so pack bug spray. While I definitely recommend a stay at Pueblo Barrancas, the challenging part can be making the reservation. They do not take credit cards, so to reserve a room you must email or call (they have English speaking staff) and they will give you instructions for wiring money to make a deposit. We live in Uruguay so we paid the deposit at a local bank and then brought the deposit receipt with us, but it would definitely be preferred if Pueblo Barrancas would take online bookings with credit cards. It’s a little expensive, but a fun, unique experience.

The huge site with tents and cabins dotted around is so beautiful and the pool / bar area was a haven of luxury in a rustic setting. The service we received was 5 star, leading up to our stay and afterwards. So friendly and helpful, our stay was just 24hrs but it felt like longer as we had such a relaxing and memorable time in an environment that was a real treat. The beach is a few steps away and was almost deserted, stunning! Would highly recommend visiting

After a road trip in Argentina, we wanted to relax for 3-4 days. This u can do here perfectly. We were staying in a lovely, quite and two storage cabin.
But looking at the price of 260$/night I wasn't expecting such a service level - no service.
The staff is nice and friendly but literally no one is professional service personnel. The cabin was in such a shape that I decided to take a broom myself and clean it, though a cleaning lady came daily. The door handle in the bathroom fell off and was very badly fixed.
The pool area is nice and relaxing.
The beach is just great and beautiful. Unfortunately there are no sun shades put there by the hotel... This would help preventing from burning.
The food was good.
Breakfast regular and good.
At a hotel of this price range I have seen much better service and way cleaner rooms. Also the doors etc were a bit like self made and couldnt really be be locked...
All in all I would rather recommend a place or bungalow in La Predrera directly.

Nice place but totally overpriced, basic amenities missing in the cabanas like no shelves no hangers. Appalling breakfast with little or no fruit. No eggs, we had to buy some! Avoid avoid!!!
We got a welcome cocktail: worst mojito I ever had

We stayed in a couple of the tents. The property is beautiful. The landscaping has a variety of mature plantings everywhere, and well-maintained gardens, the harvest of which are used in the restaurant. There are wooden walkways and gravel walkways in addition to the paths, with a wheelbarrow to transport your luggage to your tent or cabin. The beach is perhaps a 3-minute walk through the property, which is enjoyable. We visited in March, so had the beach to ourselves, although it was quite warm enough for swimming. Pueblo Barrancas arranged an afternoon of surfing for us five beginners and we had a fantastic time. Pueblo Barrancas has a beautiful pool with adjacent bar. I guess it could be hot mid-summer as the tents are not air conditioned (don't know if the cabins are). Dinner was good. We loved this place. I would call it a boutique hotel. It far exceeded our expectations!

Beautiful piece of property with private gorgeous beach. Staff is great from the reception to the folks making and serving dinner at night. Great pool and hang out area too. Note that this is glamping. We stayed in a cabana (which is different from the tents or yurts), and they are rustic, the bathroom is small and cleaning service is only every 3rd day. But the property is gorgeous and staff great.

We spent Christamas in Pueblo Barrancas and compare to most of the hotels (even Fasano in Punta) we've been in Uruguay, it is our favorite ! It is a real "Uruguay Natural" experience, the cabanas our simple but nice and clean, in the middle of the nature. you have your own private deck with an hamaca and the cabanas are far from one another for mrs privacy. The nature is beautiful, you walk by a little forrest to go to the beach. The restaurant is expensive but delicious. The staff is really helpful and do the best they can to make you feel home! Some negative points though: the breakfast is very basic (bread, dulce de leche and 3 fruits...). They could offer some home made cakes, more fruits, juices.... And the kitchen in the cabanas miss many essential cooking stencils and a table with chairs on the deck would also be nice... But overall very very nice!

My wife and I stayed in a yurt at Pueblo Barrancas in late December 2013 and found the experience to be very agreeable. This is not a beach holiday for those who want to party hard but rather people who prefer tranquility. If you prize spending the day by the pool under lovely shaded patios or at the beach with few (if any) other people, this place is for you. The beachfront location is superb, smack dab in between La Paloma and La Pedrera (only 15 minute walk along the beach) with a vigorous surf for those who like to boogieboard or surf. The parking is adequate and it's very easy to go to either town in car to enjoy nightlife.
Fair warning, there is no air conditioning and the fans in extreme heat can be inadequate. To be fair, we were there during an exceptional heat wave, and it was a bit uncomfortable at times. However, my wife was pregnant but still found the facilities (including the yurt bathrooms) to be adequate. One other item to take note of -- moving the luggage from your car to your accommodation can be hard because there are no paved paths on the grounds. However, the staff were very helpful in trying to provide an assist.
Special thanks to Mercedes, the Barrancas employee who went out of her way to help us move our luggage and also called ahead to our next lodging in Uruguay. Her cheerful attitude made our stay extra enjoyable.
