We stayed just 1 night unfortunately, but will definitely stay again. Rosemary was very helpful and pleasant. The views from the room were stunning. The room it's self was very spacious and clean. Bed was comfortable and shower was great. We didn't use the restaurant so I'm unable to comment. On our next visit we will😉

The hotel is situated on the top a hill overlooking the Waikato region. It was very easy to get to, just 3 km off Hwy 1 an hour south of Aukland (most of it unpaved, but well maintained and wide enough for two cars). It was extremely peaceful, unfortunately the weather while we were there did not permit any hiking... More

It took a while to get up to it but the views were spectacular. It was a little adventure getting there and we had to keep going up and up past a whole lot of farm animals and some escape artist goats and a whole lot of cotton-tailed rabbits. We'd read reviews of the place extolling the views at Hillside... More

The rooms here are magnificent. Very large for a hotel room and their accompanying windows overlooking the Waikato basin are great. The restaurant is also fantastic with really good food and wines to accompany. Once again the views are great.

Our first stop in NZ couldn't have been better. Reviews on here mention the road.... really it is no problem, in fact its quite fun anticipating what is round the next bend and the delight when you get there. The road surface is better than many I have traversed in my motor home! Up a few steps and what a... More

The Hillside was designed and built from local materials by the owners, set around the crown of the hill. Its a beautiful building, with commanding views. Sustainability wins over slick corporate bland hotel themes, although the suites are well appointed and excellent inside. A thought the service was charming - give me genuine people over service drones anyday. We had... More

we stayed there for a two day conference there was 12 of us the rooms are really good size there are amazing views from all the windows. The restaurant food is plentiful and very tasty. It's far enough away. To feel like you are away from the office but has good wireless and is only 30 minutes from Hamilton airport.

I stayed 2 nights for a great work conference this week. A very high standard venue with great views. So peaceful! Good food and cosy rooms. Friendly staff and hilarious comedy entertainment for a nice dinner with work friends. Definitely recommended, I wish I could have stayed another day to experience more of the walking tracks...

We made a day-before booking for a night stay to break our car journey from Wellington to the Bay of Islands. It was the most surprising little find. I think we were the only ones staying in the hotel and we had a large, clean room with amazing views. We went to the restaurant for an amazing lamb meal in... More
