We were looking for a last minute place to stay and ended up here as there weren't a lot of choices. The manager or owner on duty was very friendly. The rooms were ok but fairly dated and the place had kind of a run down feel. It evidently is not in the best neighborhood as the parking area is...

Basic hotel, no view, no airco, but very friendly staff. Guests kick o very early, which is a Little bit noisy. Noise insulation could be better, especially at the entrance door. Clean with good beds. Spacious rooms. Parking lot only accessable to guests. Pub available, but we have not used it. Good price for the quality you get

Was a pit stop from a long haul towards Auckland. Was tidy and had what was required no fuss decor. shower had good pressure with sufficient toiletries. Is located very close to highway therefore if you a light sleeper you might want to consider ear plugs. I found the bed spacious and comfort. Staff where welcoming and helpful even walked...

We booked this hotel for one night after a long haul flight. We wanted to pick up the hire car, drive for no more than an hour and crash out. This place just about achieved that. The architecture was originally Art Deco, there are a few glimpses left around the place. Our room was a good size, the bathroom was...

From the time they opened the door to us to the minute we left we felt welcomed and safe! The Essex Arms is very art deco in shape and form. The room was v. clean and the shower was v. efficient. The car park is secure which is a BIG bonus when you are touring! We only stayed one night...

Good budget accommodation. Loved the staircase and domed roof reminded me of a grand old English pub. The room was large, showers great and bed very comfortable. We only stayed for one night and had tea at the local RSA. so didn't really try the local cafes. This place has a secure car park (a bonus) and or though next...

Great location, spacious rooms, friendly staff. Showers are amazing, loved having lots of towels. Good location to other cafes/takeaways. Although our room faced the road the rooms were quiet. Be careful on the ramp leading to carpark it is dangerous, perhaps a rubber mat would stop people falling over?

Stayed here for 2 nights as a solo female traveler with a backpack, although I chose to go with a double room (I believe I was in room no. 4) instead of the backpacker option. If you're going to visit Huntly, which isn't exactly New Zealand's hottest tourist destination, this hotel is the ideal place to stay. The location is...

Having travelled down from Northland across Auckland's iconic harbour bridge, best seen when travelling from the northside, we continued on State Highway 1 to the small town of Huntly. Huntly is best known for its vast coal fired power station, fed by coal from the town's 3 mines( not sure how many remain operational ) and is situated in provincial...
