This historical mansion is the former farm of the Royal Abbey of Fontevraud (from the 13th to the 18th centuries). It combines the charm of a traditional bed and breakfast with the comfort of a family-owned hotel. Located in a lush green setting, our Domain provides an exceptional relaxing peacefulness with first-class catering at its on-site restaurant La Table de Mestre where you can have lunch and dinner. The adjacent shady terrace overlooks the garden all year round. An ideal resort for families: family suites, baby equipment, games, play area... As well as numerous activities in the surrounding region: the tank museum, the Bioparc animal park, the Sleeping Beauty chateau in Usse; you can also stroll, cycle or ride on horseback alongside the Loire. Come and relax at our Domain, located within a radius of 3 to 20 km, you are in the heart of the Loire chateaux: Chinon, Azay le Rideau, Rigny Usse, Villandry, Langeais, Richelieu, Montsoreau, Saumur, Montreuil Bellay, Montgeoffroy... Great base for exploring Fontevraud and chateaus. Rooms are good size ( family room is huge). Hotel dinner is great and for variety Town of Montsoreau is 3 minutes drive. Breakfast is great value and casual. You leave feeling you have found a special place. We loved the family style management.

This is a very peaceful, quite place. The owner is very nice and helpful. We used the hotel as our base for visiting the castles of the Loire between Angers and Tours. It worked out pretty well. Great time of year to come. No crowds!

This is one of the loveliest hotels I have ever stayed in. It's like being invited into someone's beautiful home. Very relaxed and tranquil atmosphere, friendly staff and family members, generous rooms with glorious views, filled with family antiques. The whole place smells delicious as there is a savonnerie in the grounds, where they make wonderful natural soap. Don't miss the shop - it's quite something, - the soap is lovely for gifts and as a souvenir of your stay. Delicious buffet breakfast and home-made food for dinner in the restaurant. It's an excellent location for Fontevraud Abbey, Montsoreau and the other beautiful villages and chateaux of the Loire, and not as expensive as the two main hotels in Montsoreau. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Domaine de Mestre to anyone who is looking for authentic, traditional French charm, tranquility and a friendly welcome. It's a very special place!

Situated in a quiet and peaceful valley a mile or two from the center of Fontrevaud L’Abbeye, this small hotel hotel is run by a caring husband and wife team. Benoit speaks good English and he is very happy to help out with anything. We stayed in room 5 (Trochoir) which had a small entry way then a large room with windows on both sides that allowed for excellent cross ventilation. The bathroom had a tub with a handheld shower. The bed was very comfortable. The decor was authentically French. The room was very light and airy thanks to the two large windows. When we closed the shutters at night all outside light was pretty much eliminated, but the windows could still be open for ventilation. We were glad we did not stay in the small village. Parking there can be difficult, and I’m sure the Domaine de Mestre is less expensive than the In town hotel. Our hotel was also a lot more peaceful. The Abbeye is well worth a visit - the tombs of Eleanor of Acqitaine, Her husband King Henry II of England, and Richard the Lionheart are all there. The village is a short drive from the Chateau de Chinon, build by Henry and Eleanor. This is 12th century medieval history at its best. Food-wise, the breakfasts were a abundant cold buffet with everything you could want. Dinners were very reasonably priced and just excellent. Madame is a very good cook. We plan to return to this area and plan to stay here again. We loved it.
