It was interesting, in that it was a modern hotel within an old city in Normandy. The staff was great and there is free parking behind the hotel. The bed was comfortable for my daughter and me, and my teenage son slept on a sofabed which he said was fine. The toilet was in a small, small room with a...

We came here mainly to eat at the restaurant, which is excellent, though expensive. Staying at the hotel seemed sensible so we didn't have to drive after dinner. The hotel has been re-done in an ultra-modern style, which we didn't entirely appreciate. The lift works well, but then you step out into a corridor with entirely black walls and minimalist...

It's true that this hotel has kind of a quaint modern look (brown and purple or green palette). But 190 Euros a night for a 'superior' room (17A) that overlooks the parking and where the kitchen staff congregate for their cigarettes seems very overpriced to me. When I told the receptionist (owner?) she looked at me disbelievingly that I wasn't...

I had to make a last minute booking as the hotel where I had booked previously had messed up the reservation. When I arrived here everything was absolutely perfect. I was personally greeted by the owners wife and shown to my room. The room itself was very tastefully decorated and lacked for nothing. When I booked I noticed that the...

I had booked this hotel in the morning as driving up from from Toulouse area the same day. I arrived and the staff were helpful, I had read that the rooms were sound proofed which appealed, I arrived very tired after a long drive and was shown to my room, I was asked if I wanted to book for the...

We stayed here for one night after visiting the American Normandy Cemetery. The hotel lobby is strikingly designed, and our room was styled in the spartan modern style. The young staff was eager to assist, though the foreign visitor will find some knowledge of French to be quite helpful. The center city is just 3km away and the rail station...

We ended-up at this hotel by default. Other Normandy hotels were filling up by the minute and we needed a place as base for our tours of the Invasion Beaches. I am so glad we went to IV! Yes, is is uber modern - but that was great for me and my traveling companions. It is a matter of preference...

The good: - nicely designed hotel - very good rooms with high quality furnishings - excellent bed - good service - staff try to please - excellent breakfast - good restaurant on site The bad: - this hotel is located on the outskirts of Caen, a city I would not recommend to stay in while visiting Normandie to begin with....

My wife and I stayed at IV Hotel for one night in early June. The hotel has been recently extended and we found the room//facilities to be of the highest standard of design and comfort. I am confined to a wheelchair and I must say that our room was the most delightfully equipped room (including wet floor shower) that I...

Ivan Vautier should be doing more business than it does -- the room are gorgeous -- stylish and large. The staff is delightful -- helpful and charming. The food is excellent (not OMG! Who can believe it? level, but pretty damn good) And the place is reasonably priced. Caen is a weird town -- there's not a lot of there...
