We stayed for 4 nights, and our entire stay was wonderful. Our hosts were very attentive and always asked how our stay was and if there was anything they could help us with. We asked our hosts to make dinner reservations every night in a different restaurant and they recommended some great spots. Our provided breakfasts were fresh and delicious. This is a great location for a family looking to stay in an authentic old world manor with a very updated and modern bathroom. I'll definitely stay there again!!
We felt fortunate to experience the charm, comfort, elegance and spaciousness of this historic home. Our wonderful hosts were most helpful in tending to our every need and providing helpful suggestions for our daily activities. With a modernized bathroom and WiFi there was a perfect blending of the new with the historic. The location is central and a short walk to the cathedral and the center of Bayeux, yet it is very quiet. Our rooms were very comfortable and impeccably clean. Jean and Anne made us feel at home. We would love to stay here again.
The house is gorgeous and located in central Bayeux, within walking distance of many restaurants, shops, museums and the cathedral. The owners were incredibly nice and helpful, recommending local things to do and see.
We visited for 2 nights last week. Wish it could have been more! The apartment is lovely - perfect location in a beautiful mansion. The rooms are very large and comfortable. The breakfast is delicious and elegantly served. But the best part is the hospitality. Monsieur and Madame Lanchou are the most gracious hosts. They were genuinely interested in our plans for the visit to Bayeux, wanted to meet and talk with our D-Day guide, had recommendations for restaurants and sightseeing. We really felt that they were looking out for us in the best possible way. So different than a conventional hotel - this is the type of vacation experience that we'll remember as a highlight of our trip.
Even though we researched this B&B in advance, we were deeply impressed when we arrived at the beautiful city "palais" with its imposing wooden entrance gates. We were then led up a stone staircase typical for castles and into our own two-room apartment suite on the mezzanine, equipped with beautiful historic family furniture. We did not meet the hosts as they were traveling, but their daughter Florence and grand-daughter Marine took care of us and represented the building and its family history in a very charming way, in addition to being very helpful with practical suggestions. Breakfast to order (you make your preferences known the day before) took place in the family dining room one floor up in the private quarters, next to the majestic living room. The ceilings on both floors were probably 4m height (20+ feet) and everything was decorated in exquisite taste. On the practical side, the bathroom in the suite is very spacious, with a large shower stall. There are two single beds in one room and one king sized bed in the other, making it perfect for families. Parking was easy right in front of the house and wifi was working fine. The hotel is in the center of the old town and thus only a few minutes by foot from the cathedral and various restaurants. Within just 20 minutes drive you can reach the coast, visit WWII sites and find additional dining opportunities and attractions. A memorable visit which we hope to repeat.…
