Our room, a suite, was surprisingly large for a charming historic hotel. It seemed recently remodeled. The people were wonderful. Location was perfect--we walked 10 minutes from the train station and then we were right in the middle of town. Breakfast was fine (coffee was sitting out at the buffet unlike another reviewer's experience) and dinner was fantastic though definitely... More

We stayed two nights in this hotel. It is a very clean hotel with a new modern bathroom. I thought it was a quaint hotel with lots of history. I enjoyed looking at all the pictures of the famous people who have stayed there over the years. The reception was very helpful. I needed to see a dentist while I... More

This hotel has been around for 200 years and upgraded to the small European hotel it is today. What distinguishes this hotel (just 30 rooms) are the classy bar with a fantastic fireplace and the Michellin Star-type restaurant. The rooms are large and the baths even larger. The tile work in the bath alone is reason enough to keep the... More

I really wanted to like this hotel since it has such historic ties. Our room was one that had been renovated with a new shower which was very nice. The room was of adequate size, though sparsely furnished. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. I'm sure it is difficult to maintain a historical atmosphere while providing for the... More

There were some great things about this hotel and some not so great things. The exterior, the lobby, lounge and restaurant do not disappoint. It looks the part of Eisenhower's favorite hotel in Bayeux from the outside and when you walk in you see and feel the history. The lounge with the big leather chairs and an actual fire going... We stayed for 2 nights as part of a biking tour through Normandy. As noted, the hotel is perfectly situated in the middle of town. Lots of restaurants and shopping within walking distance. The hotel is very clean and the restaurant in it was of good quality. Breakfast was very good, and the bread offered was some of the best... More

This hotel does it all well. The rooms we had were spacious and well-appointed. The only thing lacking is an elevator. You are drawn to the photographs of the many famous individuals who have visited Bayeux and are linked in some way to the hotel.

Bayeux is a great small town and Le Lion d' Or is a great hotel. Could use a lift to get to level 3 and 4. Our room was the handicapped room and the shower was huge. Breakfast was very good. Only problem was the internet in our room needed a booster.

The Lion d'Or is located in an older building in the heart of the city. It was General Eisenhower's favorite place. The hotel is rustic with a nice restaurant attached. The rooms are comfortable but there is no elevator so if you have knee problems, ask for a room on the first (second here in the States) floor. Bayeux is... More

The hotel is a little older, but clean. Parking on the hotel grounds were very limited and there were only a few spots across the street. We got lucky and were able to use our handicap sticker at the only handicap spot across the street. We were told that parking lots were several blocks away. The room was a little... More
