This is a reasonably priced B&B with a decent location in Bayeux. It's only a bit of a walk to the main strip in Bayeux and all the sights. It's in a quiet section of town but allows easy access to the main roads out of town. The rooms are very cool and unique. Ours had an enormously large bathroom and comfortable bed. The shower was also very adequate. Don't expect much in the way of TV though. There's essentially no parking on site but there's free parking around the corner in a free public parking, about a 5 minute walk from the hotel. The service was very helpful and considerate.
I really loved this guesthouse. We were made to feel like residents, not guests. Our room had a view of the Cathedral and was facing the street. The room was quite adequate and roomy. The bathroom was tiny, but functional. The breakfast was absolutely awesome. All fresh pastries, fruit, granola, yogurt, tea, coffee, juices. I ate my fill each morning. We had a private entrance at the side of the building with a door code which made it easy to come and go. They have a beautiful stained glass doorway that reflects the artistic qualities in the guesthouse.
Visited solo in October, 2019 for four nights. The guest house looks like a small medieval castle. Lots of character inside and out. Had a room in the front with a small balcony and a spectacular view of the cathedral. Location excellent, about a 10 minute walk from the train station, around the corner from the Bayeux Tapestry, five minute walk to cathedral and town center, estimated 15 minutes to the British Cemetery and the Museum of the Battle of Normandy. The room was spacious with all required amenities. The breakfast was served at a large single table, facilitating the ability (or I suppose for some, the requirement) to meet and talk with other guests. I enjoyed the daily conversations with the other visitors. Staff was pleasant and attentive. One logistics note: the guest house front desk is not staffed all day and night, so confirm ahead of time that someone will be there to greet you on arrival. Once you check in you receive a key and a code to unlock the side door if you return when the desk is unstaffed. Not a hassle, very easy actually, but something to be aware of. There is on site parking but it is limited to maybe 3 cars. Free parking available about a five minute walk away. If I return to Normandy I will stay at the Castel again. In summary the guest house offers good value, location, amenities and character.…
My husband and I stayed in the cathedral view room on our first night in Paris. This hotel was extremely conveniently located, the staff was lovely (and all spoke English much better than our French!), and the breakfast the next morning was great as well. It included freshly squeezed orange juice, and apple juice from local Normandy apples. Would definitely recommend a stay here if your trip is taking you to Bayeaux!
It was our first visit to Bayeux (to see the local beaches from the legendary D Day invasion). Bayeux is a charming Medieval town with great restaurants and cafes. The Le Castel is within walking distance of the downtown area and a very comfortable B&B. We would stay here again.
