First of all, we did not stay at Hotel de la Gare--this is only regarding our experience of their D-Day tours which can be purchased in the lobby with departure from the parking lot--right across the street from the Bayeux train station: For anyone who thinks it is impossible to take a day trip to see Normandy D-Day beaches, well,...

We stayed for 2 nights. The room was adequate. The wifi worked and there was a space to store our bikes. People were nice. BUT. About the room. The shower was in the bedroom. The hand held shower did not attach to the wall so you got to turn the water on and off as you showered. The pipes were...

We did not stay at this hotel. We came up from Paris by train for the tour that operates out of the hotel. I cannot say enough great things about the host, Jean-Marc and his family. They were friendly and accommodating. They met us in the parking lot and made us feel most welcome. We hadn't eaten and, although their...

Although we did not stay at this hotel I wanted to write to let you know how good the guided tour is of the invasion beaches etc from it. We stayed in Caen and caught a train to Bayeux, on leaving the train station the hotel is just across the road. There are sign for the tours on the hotel...

We did not stay at this hotel. Rather we reserved spaces on a tour of the Normandy D-Day beaches and cemetery that started at this hotel. We were greeted by the very charming proprietor of this hotel and checking in for our tour was a breeze. The company offering the tour is called simply "Normandy Tours." Our guide, Romain, was...

Absolutely awful food! If I could give no stars, I would. No idea what the hotel is like because we just grabbed a bite at the restaurant before taking the train back to Paris. Do not eat here! The two things we ordered were just microwaved fast food: a cheeseburger and a ham and cheese crepe. My side of salad...

To start off, if you're looking for a luxury hotel, this is not it. However, if you're looking for a quaint hotel with excellent service, good food, and true old world charm, you can't beat Hotel de la Gare. Jean-Marc or his sister will meet you at the door and see you to your room, and their mother will prepare...

I didn't stay there but we did eat there and used it as a base to see Normandy from. the man "J-MAR" was of great help. he runs the hotel, bar and Normandy tours. the place is very clean, very close to down town Bayeux. after spending much time and eating there I would not be afraid to stay there....

I came to Bayeux intending to stay one night. Instead I ended up staying for four nights. The staff was some of the nicest people I've met, and I got my own room for a great price! The downtown is five minuets by walking and the train station is basically on the doorstep. I also took the D-Day tour the...

I stayed here with my wife, and we both thought this is the best locationed hotel in the town of Bayeux. You walk out of the train station ("Gare") and it's the only close-by building you can see, so while other people try to look at their maps or decide whether or not to get ripped off by a taxi,...
